  • Absolutely beautiful! On both the pianist and the violinist's parts.

  • She certainly deserves a bouquet of roses. I didn't see anyone give them to her.

  • I love Danse Macabre and after listening to the many different uploads of this song on YouTube I have decided that this is the best version.

  • I don't think anyone thumbed this down on purpose. They were probably trying to hit the thumb up button but missed and now they have to live with that mistake lol

  • ...es la versión en la cual me "clavé" cuando deseo escuchar este tema, que me agrada sobremanera...

  • Fabulous work ladies. I loved that.... especially having just seen the movie Hugo.

  • i want to play this on my violin, anyone have or know the notes? thanks

question 2) Anyone completely amazed at how well this violinist plays or is it just me?

  • its weird shes doing so much amazing things with one emotion.... Death (straight face)

  • Heard this on Grimm. Scared the shit out of me...

  • How crazy would it be to turn this into a sax quartet piece?

  • It's hard to believe this was at a high school. You two are amazing.

  • Which Solo Piano arrangement of this song is most similar to the Piano+Violin arrangement you two played?

  • Comment removed

  • @redconversetheorem No, its not tuned to Eb in this violin and piano version. She uses the A string to play Eb.

  • i wonder if i can do both at the same time?

  • Awesome, you are so great my daughter of 14 years old love this song, really you are so great n_n the piano and the violin make the perfect couple.

  • I heard this song on Grimm last week and I cant get it out of my head. This is a great performance of this song. I love to hear just the violin and the piano play this piece. Dont get me wrong, orchestras are great but this is awesome.

  • @defigi OH MY GOSH ME TO NOW I REALLY WANT TO PLAY BOTH VIOLIN AND PIANO! ( i already piano)

  • yo she played perfect song for the violin. good shit

  • Is her E tuned down to Eb? I ask because this piece usually calls for scordatura tuning.

  • I believe that in order to produce the "Devils Chord" which she did produce in the beginning,

    It is necessary.

  • the pianist has ninja fingers! So well played! beautiful!

  • where did you find this sheet? I cannot find it

  • holy crap! that's amazing :')

  • This song drags on for a while.

  • <3 :)

    sheetmusicplus(.)com/title/Danse-Macabre-Op-40/4986058

  • How old are those girls?

  • fantastic!! I can't subscribe no other way than standing ovation.

  • I love this. It sounds so real. Like it the played by the composer, himself (: Well done. Most kids my age, don't have taste in this kind of music. But, I just enjoy some classical pieces.

  • Come, Reaper, give me your hand and let’s dance the danse macabre!

  • I played this in youth symphnay when I was 14 as the soloist

  • @AndrewRWFB I guess that isn't too bad... It's just that I played the Rach 3 when I was 13 as the soloist.

  • Wow! Bravo for both of you! I've played violin myself and I loved playing this. But you need a second part, or it will sound less impressive. You use piano and that sounds great! Good job!

  • Is that you! I think you are great if it is.

  • I LOVE DANSE MACABRE! :D

  • According to legend, "Death" appears at midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance their dance of death for him while he plays his fiddle represented by a solo violin with its E-string tuned to an E-flat in an example of scordatura tuning. His skeletons dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn, when they must return to their graves until the next year.

  • this really is an exception version of this song, probably my favorite on youtube

  • Comment removed

  • your sheetmusic link doesnt work! :( which one is it if i search for danse macabre on that site?

    Great performance!

  • @dutchpianist use this information to search:

Danse Macabre for Violin and Piano

    Transcribed by the Composer

    Kalmus Edition

It's white with "Saint-Saens" written in huge black lettering at the top!! good luck!! :)

  • @dutchpianist try IMSLP.org (:

  • i played this as a duet at my high school it was great =]

  • your sheet music link was broken, do you have any other sources for this?

  • @pianokeynecktiejuice

I replaced the link with information to search for it, because each time I put up new links they expire. good luck!! :)

  • @oakrueger08

is there a site where i can see the music for free?

  • @oakrueger08 Great music is it you in the violin or in the piano?

  • @pianokeynecktiejuice go to imslp.org and click on the "Composer name" on the left, and click "Saint-Saens, Camille", then "Danse Macabre" and u can browse the list of sheet music

  • @pianokeynecktiejuice google "imslp Danse Macabre" click the first link, then when the page loads click "For Violin and Piano" in the table of contents

  • Olivia, I played this song myself, but the sheet music told me to tune the E string down to an E-flat, which, of course, was a difficult adjustment. From the video it doesn't look like you did. Have you ever tried it?

  • @raleighb53 My version doesn't specify to tune the e-string down, but I think the solo violin part in the orchestral version might...but since I don't have time to re-tune my string and don't have a "spare" violin to play the rest of the piece, I just play the tritone at the beginning in 3rd position, because it's only a few measures, and it's not difficult to do

  • @oakrueger08 i see. i played the whole thing with the e-string tuned down a half a pitch. anyway i love this song. hope you have a chance to perform it again now

  • @oakrueger08 I love how the vibrato wasn't overbearing, particularly on that short little 'theme' of the song for solo violin.

SO many violinists these days completely overdo the vibrato, and it just ends up sounding warble-y hahaha.

  • I love this "oeuvre" !

Thank you very much for posting

  • A beautiful performance, thanks for sharing this, and much admiration from me for the both of you! This is going into my Favourites!

  • ohhh krueger!!!! good job

  • Great job! I really enjoyed it!

  • I'm learning this with my friend (I play piano)... ok ok I coerced her into it :-)

What grade level do you think the violin part is? A.Mus.A.?

  • Can you fix the link for the sheet music?? It's broken but it's a beautiful song!

  • I think I'm in love with the violinist!

  • AmaZiNg ViOLiNIsT

  • where can i find the mp3 for the violin and piano arrangement cause all i can find is the original and violin only.

  • Did she play a wrong note at 1:24?

  • Well, if it was, it didn't sound bad.

  • slightly flat, rather than wrong note I think x Few duffs, but awesome!

  • YEY I'm i'm the 49th viewer hopefully i can play like her when i'm older as i am violin player! :P

  • I know nothing about music but this rendition to my mind beats anything orchestral,

  • So beautiful! You both play really nice ^^

  • Unbelievable. 5*

  • AMAZING!

  • Oww! very interesting indeed, thanks for posting! Really wonderful!

  • Olivia and Christi - you were both magnificent. This is not an easy piece for a duet of violin and piano but you excelled.

Thank you "oakrueger08" for sharing this wonderful musical experience.

  • Wow, played beautifully by both of you!!

  • I wish I could play violin and could find that stupid voice score

  • _0_

  • asum

  • Bravo! All my stars! Thanks musicgirl316 for sharing this my way:) *****

  • very gooodd..

    bravoo

  • wonderfull! is perfect!

  • i love it!!!

  • BTW, the sound is really good on this. I've been looking on here for the "original" (?) piano version of this but all I can find are the Horowitz/Liszt variations. They're fiery and great but I think they lose something in the transition from the simpler, cleaner, original effect that this has. Something maybe us mere mortals can attempt. So, uh, what kind of food?

  • The original piano version is as far as I know by Lizt and made "popular" through Horowitz. But originally this piece is a tone poem for Orchestra by Saint Saëns. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • That's sort of what I thought too. It's just that this particular accompaniment could stand on its' own as solo if you ask me. I really liked it On the other hand, if they're throwing in all that free food, hey, who cares?! :D

  • That was great, love it. But what's with the videographer...got a problem with the pianist or something?? You zoom in on the violinist a couple times...pianist who? Oh, there was someone playing a piano there? Whaaa...?

  • probably his kid

  • well, technically it was the violinist's senior recital, and the piece is written to be a violin solo ACCOMPANIED by piano. And I say this as a piano accompanist myself: We don't really care if we don't get attention--it's the soloist's recital, and we get paid and free food afterward no matter what.

  • i can't stop watching and listening to your peformance. my brother who was a concert violinist said it was excellent...and your accompaniement was great too...bravo

  • Funny, I can't stop listening to it either, lost count a loooong time ago! Catchy tune ya' think? :D (Keep looking for the "repeat" button on here so I don't have to click it each time!)

  • I hate that too, youtube really should have added a "loop" button a long time ago
