hey, how does the wah sound on this unit? i've read in some reviews that it's horrible but i've read one or two others that say it's good. also, why does it make a difference on what kind of fx loop you have?
Cool demo, this is my favorite effect unit too, very nice sounds, you can check out the cool Hendrix sound for All along the watchtower on my profile that I made using only Sansamp GT2 and the G-major 2 in the effects loop of my Fender BD amp, this unit has very nice effects, cheers!
I love the "fluidness" of the front screen. The whole front panel reminds me of an old older car cd player lol. I have an ax fx but wouldn't mind checkin out out one of these, just for the hell of it.
is this foot switchable because id like to use it live situations or do you just leave it on in your effects loop and engage it through the effects loop ?
will this work well with a mesa dual rectifier?....can i set up patches with my dual rec channels and this processor to where i just need one stomp, for example, from a clean with chorus to a dirty sound with phase?
@davem04ify you can sure do that.. Get your self a midi control foot board pedal.. run your mesa foot switch cable into the TC electronics (amp control) switch.. and then start tweaking like crazy.. will take some knowledge of how to send midi signals.. but once you get it set up it will be heaven.. one stomp and you will have amp switching along with the effects and all that good stuff..
Nice demo but I've got a question I'm going to buy a Mesa Boogie Mark V head and cabinets and probably the g major 2 but do i need to have a power conditionner, power amp, rack to hold it, etc... I dont really know about amps and effects XD
@pedaltoneshop would you be able to set up this amp to be controlled by the voodoo lab ground control unit? and if not is the a foot controller for this unit?
Good demo. I'm seriously considering one of these. Besides delay reverb and chorus what other effects does it have? Does it have a built in noise gate?
@Jakechinnius hello, the gmajor 2 has, Univibe, Tri-Chorus, Through-Zero Flanger, TC Electronic reverbs, A new filter/wah block ported 1:1 from G-System, Reverse Delay, Intelligent pitch shifting, Modulated delays as well as compression, Noise Gate and EQ controls.
@guitargeek57 yes the unit was through the loop, to use the pitch and compression effects you need to make sure you amp has a serial fx loop. It usually tells you in the manual.
For example the marshall TSL122 has a parallel loop but it becomes a serial loop when the fx control is turned up to 10.
@pedaltoneshop Hey, my Mesa TR has serial loop and it is important to me to not have any lags while changing chanels and presets with my foot controller. Does it has any?
i'm looking for a rack unit to do delay, anything else that is added on is cool, but delay and reverb are the main things i need. does this unit suffice in having a wide range of reverbs and delays? (im used to a line 6 DL4) Also is there ever lag when changing presets?
i heard there was a triple foot switch that you could tap-tempo on to set the delay. Not sure about that though. It'd be a HUGE selling point for me if there was
@SxTHUNDERxG There is a triple footswitch available for the G-sharp however it doesn't control the Gmajor 2 in the same way.
You could use a two button footswitch and plug it into the footswitch jack input, it is then possible to assign two a function to each button such as patch up and down patches / tap tempo / bypass etc.
@TimmOfficial as far as i can see from the specs the Roland Cube 30x does not have an effects loop, if you placed the Gmaj2 in front of the amp you may experience problems with low gain.
Check out the Nova System, it is designed for the front end of the amp, sounds great and is easy to setup and use.
@Pelko77 Don't know if you still want to know, but you can use any kind of expression pedal. Via MIDI (such as a behringer fcb1010 or coupled with a GCP) or directly into the pedal in (with a stereo jack cable)
GREAT REVIEW MAN!!!!!! what footpedal can you use with this besides the g-switch, is there a larger one that you can use if so please tell me, i m thnking bout buying this
If the digital efectis made properly and that circuit is made properly and from quality materials it should sound amazing. Some 80s digital effects stil soun beter than these moden digital crap. Thats because circuit was much better and quality was superb. Well i can say G major 2 really sounds great :D :D
sorry i haven't replied to all of your comments straight away they didn't show in my inbox.
We plugged the unit into a series effects loop, all the sounds are designed to work best in this type of loop especially the wahs and pitch shifting effects.
It can be used in a parallel loop with the kill dry function, however it is not designed to work in front of the amp (this doesn't mean it wont work its just not designed for front end effects)
Hi Do you use it in the fx loop or in front of your amp?
I always used fx like reverb and delay in the fx loop, but i want to use the whammy, tuner, compressor as well (i always played this in front of the amp)
SO can u tell me if this unit sounds GREAT / AMAZING in front of the amp?
the leslie preset (in mono or not) does not sound even faintly like a real leslie, and I own several real leslies (model 122, etc). I have many tc units too, so I'm not hating on tc for any reason besides this bad leslie preset.. tc reverbs are great (m2000, m3000, 4000)
I don't know... i've had a tc g-force for years and never had any problems.. as a matter of fact i love that thing. can't seem to part with it. I recently bought a cheaper g sharp for just a little delay and verb for my second amp. it's not as crisp as the force but it sure beats the hell out of a lot of modeling units out there.. i won't mention any names....saw this thing in action at namm. i definitely want to get one of these though for sure...
the gmajor 2 has had a massive upgrade from the previous model, I've gigged with both units and the gmajor 2 not only sounds better but is much better designed and built.
Anyone have any experience using this direct into the amp? I use a one channel Fender Blues Junior and play with a very clean sound on Tele and Strat. I'm looking for some quality delays and reverbs, along with some other random stuff.
I have the first "g-major" and run it in front of my amp (almost all my amps are single channel) and it sounds great! Listen to old 'Pink Floyd' like: 'Dark Side of The Moon' & 'Wish You Were Here.' Gilmour plays Hiwatts that are single channel (no effects loop); Thus, he ran his effects in front of the amp. It's all about your taste & feel - that's what really matters!
the gmaj2 is designed to be run after pedals and amp distortion through the effects loop. there are no distortion effects just high quality reverbs, delays, pitch and modulation effects.
thats what i have it in. it has two effects loops(parallel and series). i have mine hooked up through the parallel, thats what i heard you should send it through. and the amp has wet/dry knob for the the parallel fx loop. this is a whole new thing to me so im trying to figure out as much as i can.
you need to put it in the series loop to get it to sound right, otherwise you're mixing half of the signal from the amp and half from the FX. thats fine for reverbs but terrible for modulation effects like tremolo and phasing/flanging/chorus. you can change the direct sound to effect sound ratio in the unit itself to get desired sounds. or if you do run it through the parallel it should be set too 100% wet, but it still may not sound quite right with all presets
You can get the most from the G Major 2 in a series loop. Delays and Reverb will sound great either parallel or series. If you run in a parallel loop use the kill dry function.
i noticed that when i use it in the parallel loop with the effects volume all the way up it changes the amps tone, but if i turn down the pre-amps volume it clears up but then i loose some of the tone. thank you everybody for your suggestions. i will let yall know how it goes. it would be nice for somebody to put up a basic setup video or something like that.......... wink, wink :)

@thepissflap Hi, the 5150's have a very strange Hi Z loop. Having said that I have used the GM and GM2 with mine with awesome results ;-)
