  • hey, how does the wah sound on this unit? i've read in some reviews that it's horrible but i've read one or two others that say it's good. also, why does it make a difference on what kind of fx loop you have?

  • Hi is it possible to use a G-Major 2 and a Triaxis as a head on a cab?

  • does this have distortion on it

  • ! if i run this through a midi control board am i able click on a pedal and make it change the effects and ALSO change the channel on my amp?

  • @DannyVss yes, it has the relays to control your tip to ground amp. Not sure if it can do pulse switching (ala 5150 III). Cheers, Lucius

  • Can you use multiple delays at a time?

  • Does it have a headphone output ?

    thanks for sharing this video

  • That tuner's going crazy. :P

  • What a neat Machine, you made quite a good example of it =)

Loved the tune played at 1:00

  • Distortion on my 2x12 combos is crap. Could i get a nice decent high gain sound out of the G Major?

  • Comment removed

  • hey, are those all like presets on the gmajor 2?

  • I have a tc g force and I'm considering selling it cause of the slow preset changes, does the g major 2 have instant preset change? cheers

  • I know this is a stupid question but, and i haven't much knowledge with cabs or processors,

Do you need a cabinet to use the TC Electronic Gmajor 2?

  • @catshumpcats3 you need an amp basically, combo or a head and a cabinet

  • Good video! Finally sounds and not some guy talking endlessly! Bravo!

  • any chance I can hear what this thing sound like in front of the amp?

  • This Unit sucks.

Ik had one and sold it becourse it sounds like shit!

Cold and not warm at all.

My old Alesis quadraverb GT sounds way betterand warmer than this tone sucker.

I tried everything but afther tree monts i'm glad to get rid of it .

For me, never tc electronics again.

  • I love the "fluidness" of the front screen. The whole front panel reminds me of an old older car cd player lol. I have an ax fx but wouldn't mind checkin out out one of these, just for the hell of it.

  • im sure/would hope you get this all the time but... fantastic playing man.... thanks for posting... Ty...

  • do i see the integrated tuner ? right guyz ?

  • can this unit be standalone + amp cab in a live setting?

  • is this foot switchable because id like to use it live situations or do you just leave it on in your effects loop and engage it through the effects loop ?

  • i am sorry for this stupid question but i have never used rack effects before. how do you set this up?

  • im sure this has already been asked but could i use distortion from my own amp and just use the effects from this unit ??

  • @kyleshut this unit doesn't have distortion, you're supposed to use the distortion of your amp

  • Probably the best video about this product.

  • will this work well with a mesa dual rectifier?....can i set up patches with my dual rec channels and this processor to where i just need one stomp, for example, from a clean with chorus to a dirty sound with phase?

  • @davem04ify you can sure do that.. Get your self a midi control foot board pedal.. run your mesa foot switch cable into the TC electronics (amp control) switch.. and then start tweaking like crazy.. will take some knowledge of how to send midi signals.. but once you get it set up it will be heaven.. one stomp and you will have amp switching along with the effects and all that good stuff..

  • @fixxxer602 good demo. i've looked at the gmajor2 manual and i didn't see any CC#'S for midi programing. did i miss something?

  • does it have flanger and phaser like the older version?

  • Can this unit make a good RUSH sounding chorus? Just curious.

  • Can you use your regular distortion on an amp with this effects unit?

  • @zigzaghookie yes! :)

  • The TC support forum has some really serious help on these babies. There is some top dudes on there who are willing to help out.

  • Hey, i´m sorry for the stupid question, i´m a begginer sp i don´t know much about that kind of gear.

Can we creat patches with this ?

    Thanks a lot .

  • hmm this or G system?

  • is that octaver thing like a harmonizer kinda of thing?

  • does this colour the amps sounds when its on in the loop?

everything ive tried in the loop of my 5150 II just sucks the tone right out of the lead channel..

  • @thepissflap Hi, the 5150's have a very strange Hi Z loop. Having said that I have used the GM and GM2 with mine with awesome results ;-)

You'll need a special switching lead with the 5150II to get the most out of it.

Mesaage me if you want any info ;-)

  • @TaorRanger thanks for the personal response.. would you say its "workable" with the Hi z inputs? its very frustrating for me,

im thinking i need to find a local shop with both a 5150 (or 6505 as theyre called now!) and the gmajor in to try it out..

i heard about the special lead needed to change the amp channel with midi, i think the Fja mods site has a few for sale..

any idea of a good hi z FX only units?

  • Hi,

Nice demo but I've got a question I'm going to buy a Mesa Boogie Mark V head and cabinets and probably the g major 2 but do i need to have a power conditionner, power amp, rack to hold it, etc... I dont really know about amps and effects XD

  • sounds v nice on the cleans

  • @pedaltoneshop would you be able to set up this amp to be controlled by the voodoo lab ground control unit? and if not is the a foot controller for this unit?

  • Good demo. I'm seriously considering one of these. Besides delay reverb and chorus what other effects does it have? Does it have a built in noise gate?

  • @Jakechinnius hello, the gmajor 2 has, Univibe, Tri-Chorus, Through-Zero Flanger, TC Electronic reverbs, A new filter/wah block ported 1:1 from G-System, Reverse Delay, Intelligent pitch shifting, Modulated delays as well as compression, Noise Gate and EQ controls.

  • was this through the FX loop? How do the pitch and compression effects sound through the loop?

  • @guitargeek57 yes the unit was through the loop, to use the pitch and compression effects you need to make sure you amp has a serial fx loop. It usually tells you in the manual.

For example the marshall TSL122 has a parallel loop but it becomes a serial loop when the fx control is turned up to 10.

    Cheers

    Charles

  • @pedaltoneshop Hey, my Mesa TR has serial loop and it is important to me to not have any lags while changing chanels and presets with my foot controller. Does it has any?

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice demo, what kind of guitar and amp are you using? Also what kind of mic are you using to post this?

  • is there a reason why there is always the 2 lights flashing on the routing matrix ?

  • @666quebec666

    Thats the tap tempo

  • Nice demo ... thanks!

  • i'm looking for a rack unit to do delay, anything else that is added on is cool, but delay and reverb are the main things i need. does this unit suffice in having a wide range of reverbs and delays? (im used to a line 6 DL4) Also is there ever lag when changing presets?

  • @guyshocks Hello, The unit has a wide range of delays and reverbs and there is no lag when changing presets.

  • i heard there was a triple foot switch that you could tap-tempo on to set the delay. Not sure about that though. It'd be a HUGE selling point for me if there was

  • @SxTHUNDERxG There is a triple footswitch available for the G-sharp however it doesn't control the Gmajor 2 in the same way.

You could use a two button footswitch and plug it into the footswitch jack input, it is then possible to assign two a function to each button such as patch up and down patches / tap tempo / bypass etc.

  • are the knobs still pieces of crap on the GMj2 as they were on the GMj1?

  • @tehsimo The knobs are much better, single encoder wheels which don't fall off and work all of the time!

  • Which amp do you use in this video ?

  • can i use this with my roland cube 30x?

  • @TimmOfficial You can use the Gmaj2 with any amp that has an fx loop

  • @pedaltoneshop is that a yes or a no? xD

  • @TimmOfficial as far as i can see from the specs the Roland Cube 30x does not have an effects loop, if you placed the Gmaj2 in front of the amp you may experience problems with low gain.

Check out the Nova System, it is designed for the front end of the amp, sounds great and is easy to setup and use.

  • could i use this on a roland cube 30x???

  • @Pelko77 Don't know if you still want to know, but you can use any kind of expression pedal. Via MIDI (such as a behringer fcb1010 or coupled with a GCP) or directly into the pedal in (with a stereo jack cable)

  • I really like the supernova! patch 3

  • you can use almost any midi footswitch...

I have the G-Major 1 and use the behringer fcb1010 with it... works great!

  • GREAT REVIEW MAN!!!!!! what footpedal can you use with this besides the g-switch, is there a larger one that you can use if so please tell me, i m thnking bout buying this

  • @guitarsbunch347 You can use any midi compatible footswitch, we have used GCP, behringer and Roland controllers.

  • is it me or does this thing not even sound digital? sounds like analog sweetness and tube reverb etc.

  • If the digital efectis made properly and that circuit is made properly and from quality materials it should sound amazing. Some 80s digital effects stil soun beter than these moden digital crap. Thats because circuit was much better and quality was superb. Well i can say G major 2 really sounds great :D :D

  • Can you demo more of the delays and pitch shifting in the G Major 2? The patches you demonstrated in this video sounds really good.

  • How many presets and user banks are there?

  • Hello everyone,

sorry i haven't replied to all of your comments straight away they didn't show in my inbox.

We plugged the unit into a series effects loop, all the sounds are designed to work best in this type of loop especially the wahs and pitch shifting effects.

It can be used in a parallel loop with the kill dry function, however it is not designed to work in front of the amp (this doesn't mean it wont work its just not designed for front end effects)

    hope that helps,

    PedalTone

  • very nice sounds and tone. can you please tell me what amp was used on this video? thanx

  • can u tell me if wah wah works right when g major is set post preamp or in fx loop..? thanks!

  • Hi Do you use it in the fx loop or in front of your amp?

I always used fx like reverb and delay in the fx loop, but i want to use the whammy, tuner, compressor as well (i always played this in front of the amp)

SO can u tell me if this unit sounds GREAT / AMAZING in front of the amp?

    Thanks a lot!

    nice demo by the way!

  • the leslie preset (in mono or not) does not sound even faintly like a real leslie, and I own several real leslies (model 122, etc). I have many tc units too, so I'm not hating on tc for any reason besides this bad leslie preset.. tc reverbs are great (m2000, m3000, 4000)

  • prog jazz & fusion in the same sentence...now there are 3 words when linked that strikes fear into the heart of any decent music lover....

  • yes prog jazz + fusion should strike fear into punks because they can't play anything more than 3 chords.

  • QUESTION...

What's the difference between a Punk Rock Guitarist and a Jazz Fusion guitarist ???....

The Rocker plays 3 chords to hundreds of people, The Jazzer plays hundreds of chords to 3 people....

    :-)

Feud over PJF, mate - it's just a joke, sorry for winding you up :-)

The G Maj isn't all that anyway.... my mistake !!!

  • How much ????

  • can someone tell me if the gminor pedeal will work with the gmajor 2 i know it does the gmajor 1 but im not sure about the gmajor 2 help

  • Yes, the gminor is the one midi pedal.

  • I don't know... i've had a tc g-force for years and never had any problems.. as a matter of fact i love that thing. can't seem to part with it. I recently bought a cheaper g sharp for just a little delay and verb for my second amp. it's not as crisp as the force but it sure beats the hell out of a lot of modeling units out there.. i won't mention any names....saw this thing in action at namm. i definitely want to get one of these though for sure...

  • g mayor racks have a very good quality sound reputation but they are delicated units, they break down easily.

  • the gmajor 2 has had a massive upgrade from the previous model, I've gigged with both units and the gmajor 2 not only sounds better but is much better designed and built.

  • are you running this in mono?

  • yes we ran the unit in mono.

  • has the g major 2 parametric eq??

  • just got mine. I use the relay to switch channels on my preamp via my midi pedal....its so convenient and easy to set up!!

  • THE BEST!

  • Thanks for posting, enjoyed the listen!

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • Anyone have any experience using this direct into the amp? I use a one channel Fender Blues Junior and play with a very clean sound on Tele and Strat. I'm looking for some quality delays and reverbs, along with some other random stuff.

  • the unit works best in the effects loop of the amp. you may experience low gain using it this way. have a look at the nova system.

the nova system is designed for the front end of the amp sounds great and is easy to setup and use.

  • I have the first "g-major" and run it in front of my amp (almost all my amps are single channel) and it sounds great! Listen to old 'Pink Floyd' like: 'Dark Side of The Moon' & 'Wish You Were Here.' Gilmour plays Hiwatts that are single channel (no effects loop); Thus, he ran his effects in front of the amp. It's all about your taste & feel - that's what really matters!

  • Thank you very much for your post.

  • thanks

  • I liked the Leslie best !

  • well im sold

  • hey yall, thanks for all your input. im using it through the series loop now and it sounds really good. and reading the manual helped too :)

  • How is the noise gate, and eq function on this unit? Is the gate good enough to keep a high gain amp quiet? Is the eq good enough to shape tones?

  • has the gmaj2 also distortione effects?

  • the gmaj2 is designed to be run after pedals and amp distortion through the effects loop. there are no distortion effects just high quality reverbs, delays, pitch and modulation effects.

  • how do you know where to set the in and out level? do i need to adjust my amps volume?

  • this unit should be run in the amps effects loop for the best results.

  • thats what i have it in. it has two effects loops(parallel and series). i have mine hooked up through the parallel, thats what i heard you should send it through. and the amp has wet/dry knob for the the parallel fx loop. this is a whole new thing to me so im trying to figure out as much as i can.

  • you need to put it in the series loop to get it to sound right, otherwise you're mixing half of the signal from the amp and half from the FX. thats fine for reverbs but terrible for modulation effects like tremolo and phasing/flanging/chorus. you can change the direct sound to effect sound ratio in the unit itself to get desired sounds. or if you do run it through the parallel it should be set too 100% wet, but it still may not sound quite right with all presets

  • thanks alot. i will give it a try. will the other effects still sound good through the series loop, like the delay and reverb?

  • You can get the most from the G Major 2 in a series loop. Delays and Reverb will sound great either parallel or series. If you run in a parallel loop use the kill dry function.

  • there is a level meter on the G major 2

  • i noticed that when i use it in the parallel loop with the effects volume all the way up it changes the amps tone, but if i turn down the pre-amps volume it clears up but then i loose some of the tone. thank you everybody for your suggestions. i will let yall know how it goes. it would be nice for somebody to put up a basic setup video or something like that.......... wink, wink :)

  • What's the letter at the left mean? Is it the tuner.. or is that the note that you're playing or something. (excuse my english)

  • yes it's the tuner
