@forthetroll That is what it is meant for. Its mocking 'individuals' to highlight the ridiculousness of trying to be like others. The most obvious is the last part where he give a list of people. The 'individuals' are well-known and important people while the other list are people we didn't know or heard of.

He seems to say 'Don't be an individual' but really meant the opposite. The whole speech makes a great use of humorous irony.
