@sammy95kor why have you started a fight about the death of a great driver and why he died the fact is it was tragic will happen again but don't start fight over an opinion

@Sammy95kor Well you should know I wasn't. I was talking in general. You should know that. I'm not like those other silly users who make taunting comments. Also I am sorry I swore at you but you shouldn't have sent me that threatening comment
Great year in general. Rwanda took 1 million lives, F1 lost the first coming and the greatest one, and all that to end with Schumacher ramming (accidentally of course :)) into Hill to win championship. Crazy how sometimes people can't help themselves spoiling other ones lives! Anyways too bad i only started watching F1 in 1990 when the rising star started to shine in 1984. Legends can always steal the show even with low to mid-pack cars. (Senna-Toleman/Lotus & Scumi-Jordan especially!)
The guy at the end said "This sort of thing has happened before, it will happen again". It's been 18 years since this happened, and it hasn't happened again in F1 to this day. I'm glad that the authorities didn't take this guy's defeatist attitude and actually tried (and succeeded) to do something about the problem of death in Formula 1.
@Cream147player Unfortunately, this guy (Murray Walker) is right... it ill happen again. We dont know when but it ill =/... When you some accidents last season like Kubica in montreal in 2007 or Webber in Valencia in 2010 or Schumacher the same year in Abu Dhabi... you can see it can happen "easily" it is not defeatist, it is realist =/
Senna's sister once told, that on the morning before his last race, the last passage in his bible that Senna had read was "God will give you the greatest gift of all, God himself"
Senna is the greatest of all time, even if I was born on 5th March 1994 and he was sadly killed on 1st May 1994. I've looked at all the classic races and the footage and it just blows me away. Forget Schmacher, Vettel and Alonso. He's the greatest by a long shot. The quote on the Senna website sums it up I think.
I'm not really a fan of F1 but reading his story and his passion for F1 is quite inspiring and quite sad. Its especially sad knowing that he was pushing for better safety regulations and he was very concerned about his fellow racers who were dying left and right.
@haha5209 Never ever compare such a trivial hatred of an insignificant child ever cloud a sentence that includes the death of a legend. this man deserves more than your stupid statement.
@thehitchrules Thanks for the clarification - I do realize that each of the 3 injuries would have been fatal in and of themselves, it's just that my comment was badly worded. They said his skull was cracked side to side and that he was essentially brain dead when Watkins arrived (the dilated pupils indicated that the brain stem was inactive). An enormous tragedy and such a loss.
I know that the tie rod piercing the helmet visor and the upright assembly hitting the helmet caused the fractures and damage to his forehead, but the wheel probably compounded the force of the impact and the fractures at the base of his skull - such a tragedy, and more so since it was a simple matter of incompetent, shoddy welding of the steering column that killed Senna, a legend in the prime of a fabulous career and life. Anyone who says the car bottomed out and that's what killed him is wr
@22astonmartin Well, you should read what the doctors said at the time .3 seperate head injuries, any of which would have killed him .If the pieces of upright had missed the front of his head but the wheel still smashed his head back against the head rest he still would have died . Basilar fractures of this nature are not survivable . The metal rods didn't cause those fractures- the wheel shot up slamming his head in ti the head rest.
Airton Senna was killed by the team Wilinams! This was an armed plot against the greatest driver ever, but as payment to Williams team was never the same after 1994 this crap team never paid and was punished by his own incompetence!
There's also speculation that a wheel shot up like a catapult, hitting him as well - helmet's can only do so much, you know, especially at high speeds...of course they're much stronger now due to Senna's death, there are also wheel tethers and a redesigned, higher cockpit and the HANS device - all because of him, it's a shame a death, especially of the greatest driver ever, had to cause these changes
A piece if the upright assembly hit his helmet, sending his head back against the headrest, causing fractures - he also was hit on the forehead area and a metal piece of assembly through his visor - he had massive head trauma that no helmet could have prevented - ice hit the wall at 135 mph, but it was the angle that killed him (it was mechanical failure that caused him to lose control)
@22astonmartin The suspension assembly is the only thing that caused his death. The impact of the wall and the wheel against his head would not have been enough to kill him. Had that piece of suspension gone a few inches higher or lower, he would've walked back to the garage.
@squirlybmx Wrong . He sustained 3 separate head injuries. Anyone of them would have killed him . Make no mistake about it basilar skull fractures kill . Ratzenberger also sustained basilar skull fractures Their skulls cracked like eggs.
@thehitchrules What hit his head besides the suspension assembly attached to the wheel? It is said in the movie and by the creator of the movie himself that had that piece not hit right where he did, he would've gotten himself out of the car and walked back to the pits.
I saw the Senna movie and I was struggling to fight back the tears when it showed footage of the accident - he was arguably the best racing driver ever to have sat behind the wheel of an F1 car.
The first time I knew Senna was by Top Gear, where Clarkson said there will be a movie about Senna. I just saw the movie, and just realized what a legend Senna is, his control of the car in the rain was unbelievable, and what a human being! Aryton Senna is the best ever F1 driver!!!
Tonight i saw the Senna movie. Senna personally said he was 'uncomfortable' with the removal of the electronic suspension. Many said he was scared of racing due to the result of the accident the day before. Some said he did not smile once during the course of the weekend. The movie showed tht he was reading the bible in his car before the race stsrted. He read a passage that said, "I shall give you the greatest thing in the world, life". R.I.P Ayrton Senna.
@MrJORTRON he was uncomfortable because the Williams car was nearly impossible to control and was very tight in the cockpit (the steering column had to be shortened due to this - and this adjustment likely caused the accident when the column broke, making Senna a passenger in the car rather than the driver...). Also, he wasn't reading the Bible in the car, but he read the passage that morning which said he would receive the greatest of God's gifts, God Himself. Just wanted to clarify.
@wks1978 I always heard Schumi idolized Senna. Senna was one of the senior drivers in F1 (at 34!) in '94, and by all accounts he was very well respected and viewed as a leader
Ayrton is such a great source of inspiration. I don't believe in God, but I certainly hope Senna received him, just like he said he would and wished for that morning before the race. Always in our hearts, Ayrton, greatest F1 driver of all time!
The death of this great man made it very clear to me that 'life isnt fair'. The future would have been so promising for him and he would have won more championships im sure. You couldnt imagine ayrton senna dying in his sleep at an old age in his warm bed, it was just meant to be tha ayrton died doing the thing he placed above all else. he was a pure racer down to the bottom of his heart. It disgusts me how he can be compared to other drivers. he was unreachable. RIP ayrton my hero <3
@LH4wdc I agree that he was one of the all time greats, but to say you are "disgusted" that people compare him to other drivers is a bit much, Prost and Mansell were as good as he was and even Schumi, he was an amazing driver but there are also other amazing drivers.
@bourlivak88 Scum, sooner or later you will pay for your sickening comment you dirty bastard. What else do you wank over? Dead people? Baby's? Your mum?
@MultiComputer11 if you mean it, go outside and shot yourself because you dont deserve to live... Senna was and always will be the best racing driver, but also very good person who should be there still with us...godspeed to Senna
I saw this race, live on TV. I was a 12-year-old boy and a huge fan of micheal schumacher. when i saw the accident, first i was happy that senna was out of the race and schumi was 1st. but then, when i noticed that there must happend somethingbad, my happiness was gone. after the race, on the news, i heard senna died. i cried the whole evening. he was a hero, and in my mind he will ever be alive! now and forever!
@RiderOnRing This is nearly the same situation to me. I was 16 years old and watching the race. I was Ferrari-Fan and in the first moment I think - big crash, but ok, now Michael is the leader, nice. But some minutes later I see the pictures again in slow motion. Dramatic. I will never forget that day.
@SandraundSven may be u were too young or u misconfuse Schumacher that year was driving a Benetton under Briatore management not a Ferrari at the end of the year he won the first World Title.
It's also strange the story about Thumb Up i think the over 3k made a like are only agree with the video as remembering "The Racing Driver"absolutely the best ever racer in F1.
I had a luck ones to ask a Gerard Berger Why Ayrton is so strong??
@marcolonardi1 sure, you are right. Maybe I write it a little bit wrong, sorry, no native speaker :-) I was Ferrari fan at this time, but also Schumacher as a German driver, clearly that he don't drive Ferrari at this time. Sorry for difficult words.
I never did get to see Senna race :( but after watching hours of footage is doesnt take much to see how talented he was! He was a true inspiration to not only Brazil but everyone around the world. R.I.P Ayrton my thoughts go to you and your family. A true hero. I only wish i could of met you :'(
After watching his death in the movie, i just cried and couldn't stop. Very unlucky for him to die. thumbs up for people who share the same feeling as me
It is always the racers that drive on the ragged edge that seem to lose their lives I am a die-hard Senna fan and always will be. I am also a Simoncelli fan and was truly floored to learn of his death on Saturday. Simoncelli was not a deep-thinker like Ayrton but he WAS a passionate, all or nothing racer just like Ayrton. Super Sic # 58 you were awesome . My heart goes out to all who loved you. From a big fan of yours, England U.K.
@ghurghust your asking for thumbs up on a video like this? Go fuck yourself, very hard, in the fucking nostrils you attention seeking asshole. Show some respect instead of going for a meaningless "thumbs up"
I remember this like it was yesterday. And, we could debate the cause of the crash over & over again but it doesn't matter. The sad fact is the greatest driver that the world has ever seen & ever will see was lost in a tragic accident. Instead of arguing about the crash we should be remembering just what a genius Ayrton Senna really was.
@DaniloAugust0 That's 1 of the biggest controversies of all. All the experts, including Sid Watkins. Knew that Senna was dead at the scene. Had he been pronounced dead there and then the race would have to of been stopped. As it was they kept Senna alive artificially until they got to the hospital. This meant that the race could continue. Calling the FIA Pigs is a bit strong but there is certainly a lot of controversy still raging on about Senna's time of death.
@DaniloAugust0 He wasn't dead. He still had cardiac output . Was declared clinically dead that evening when life support was switched off . Injured race drivers are not declared dead at the scene because every possible means of medical intervention is given . If Sid Watkins had made absolutely no attempt to assist Senna there would be a massive out-cry . Senna's heart was still beating when Sid Watkins attended him .
I like the fact he knew that everything (including the dream that was F1) was politically motivated and run. In the film you see this with the guy saying 'I spoke to Mr Moll' and the whole situation about his ban. It appears he died due to a freak technical fault in a machine he was not comfortable with, using the same technology that went against his principles of 'real racing'. I watched that film and as someone who doesn't follow F1, I admire him and acknowledge the loss. 15 when he died
@SchwarzundWeis Senna, Shumacher and VetteI. et's stick in Kobiashi. The first three genuine greats, the Iatter an over-taking master. We were very much derived. It is aIso a great shame that Shumacher's finest years were reIativeIy unchaIIenged!
looking at the crash it looks like a part of the steering column has either broken of or jammned in some way as the car seemed to go dead straight at the corner but you can certainly rule out driver error as he was to good a driver for that.r.i.p senna.
@aMoodyPube Several theories:the main one being the steering column snapped from a weak weld Also the car may have hit the skids and bottomed out Another is there was not enough heat in the tyres and this lowered the ride height , and another is a puncture from from debris picked up from the start/line crash at the start of the race General consensus is mechanical failure of some kind. Damon Hill says it was driver error. Basically we'll never truly know. Beyond tragic Senna THE BEST for sure .
SENNA FILM in the shops on Mon 10th Oct people . If you didn't see at the cinema get yourselves a copy. It is absolutely fantastic and does his talent and personality justice. The on-board footage is fab too !
'Its very strong in my mind, its very good that its there the way it is because it gives you the right feeling for self preservation at times when you are dealing with a danger, in a way its a very close relationship, its attractive, and being attractive it could go too far at times. The fact i'm you are aware of it, that i can get hurt and die gives me the ability to stop at some moments when i really have to stop, its there and i live with it very well, i use it as self preservation' A.Senna
'There are many different ways of experiencing emotions, one particular thing that formula one can provide you is that you know we are always exposed to danger, dangers of getting hurt, danger of dying.' Ayrton Senna
Para o Brasil, Senna era o Pelé da F1... Jamais haverá outro piloto como ele.. O Brasil e o mundo sente falta dos bons tempos de grande rivalidade, onde cada grande prêmio era um espetáculo.. Senna forever
@szeretemb mmmm i wouldn't be too sure about that. Michael also is an amazing driver wich can do things nobody else can. Senna had the better personality tho, that's why many favour him over micheal, but if you compare there driving and the things they achieved, there isn't much between them.
@TheSupreme0993 There is an interesting point about Senna's & Schumacher's careers. 1 little known fact is that Senna had an agreement with Ferrari to drive for them in 96 (although they never had a signed contract). This raises a really interesting question. How different would Schumacher's career have been had Ayrton Senna lived. I honestly believe that Senna could have won between 6 & 8 titles in total. This would've had a major impact on Schumacher's title haul. Food for thought???
He had tucked away an Austrian Flag to wave for Ratzenburger...something that no one else had thought of....this says alot about the type of person he was.

RiderOnRing 3 months ago 28
@RiderOnRing This is nearly the same situation to me. I was 16 years old and watching the race. I was Ferrari-Fan and in the first moment I think - big crash, but ok, now Michael is the leader, nice. But some minutes later I see the pictures again in slow motion. Dramatic. I will never forget that day.
SandraundSven 2 months ago
@SandraundSven may be u were too young or u misconfuse Schumacher that year was driving a Benetton under Briatore management not a Ferrari at the end of the year he won the first World Title.
It's also strange the story about Thumb Up i think the over 3k made a like are only agree with the video as remembering "The Racing Driver"absolutely the best ever racer in F1.
I had a luck ones to ask a Gerard Berger Why Ayrton is so strong??
"Simple, he replied bcos is breaking after us."
marcolonardi1 1 month ago
@marcolonardi1 sure, you are right. Maybe I write it a little bit wrong, sorry, no native speaker :-) I was Ferrari fan at this time, but also Schumacher as a German driver, clearly that he don't drive Ferrari at this time. Sorry for difficult words.

DaniloAugust0 3 months ago 4
@DaniloAugust0 That's 1 of the biggest controversies of all. All the experts, including Sid Watkins. Knew that Senna was dead at the scene. Had he been pronounced dead there and then the race would have to of been stopped. As it was they kept Senna alive artificially until they got to the hospital. This meant that the race could continue. Calling the FIA Pigs is a bit strong but there is certainly a lot of controversy still raging on about Senna's time of death.
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago 4
@chrismarkbicknell In the Brazilian radio, on the day of the tranmission, the locutor said to all that Senna was dead.
The Tvs, Radios, and the FIA knew that he died instantly, and continued the race just like nothing happened...
They don't even respect the dead racers that made them rich. PIGS
DaniloAugust0 3 months ago 36
@DaniloAugust0 He wasn't dead. He still had cardiac output . Was declared clinically dead that evening when life support was switched off . Injured race drivers are not declared dead at the scene because every possible means of medical intervention is given . If Sid Watkins had made absolutely no attempt to assist Senna there would be a massive out-cry . Senna's heart was still beating when Sid Watkins attended him .

It's weird seeing Murray Walker that dejected, just completely lost his enthusiasm, but I can hardly blame him. Great man.
55DJL 3 months ago
I like the fact he knew that everything (including the dream that was F1) was politically motivated and run. In the film you see this with the guy saying 'I spoke to Mr Moll' and the whole situation about his ban. It appears he died due to a freak technical fault in a machine he was not comfortable with, using the same technology that went against his principles of 'real racing'. I watched that film and as someone who doesn't follow F1, I admire him and acknowledge the loss. 15 when he died

looking at the crash it looks like a part of the steering column has either broken of or jammned in some way as the car seemed to go dead straight at the corner but you can certainly rule out driver error as he was to good a driver for that.r.i.p senna.
MrPmul3708 3 months ago
@MrPmul3708 Rubbish .Senna made many errors as a driver . They ALL do at some stage or another. Ridiculous to say otherwise.

Phantomdirt 3 months ago
Hi, i was only 1 when this occurred and i don't know much about this fatal accident, did they find out what caused the accident in the end ?
aMoodyPube 3 months ago
@aMoodyPube Several theories:the main one being the steering column snapped from a weak weld Also the car may have hit the skids and bottomed out Another is there was not enough heat in the tyres and this lowered the ride height , and another is a puncture from from debris picked up from the start/line crash at the start of the race General consensus is mechanical failure of some kind. Damon Hill says it was driver error. Basically we'll never truly know. Beyond tragic Senna THE BEST for sure .

If Senna Survived Imola 1994,Schumacher wasn`t a 7-time champion.
szeretemb 4 months ago
@szeretemb mmmm i wouldn't be too sure about that. Michael also is an amazing driver wich can do things nobody else can. Senna had the better personality tho, that's why many favour him over micheal, but if you compare there driving and the things they achieved, there isn't much between them.
TheSupreme0993 4 months ago
@TheSupreme0993 There is an interesting point about Senna's & Schumacher's careers. 1 little known fact is that Senna had an agreement with Ferrari to drive for them in 96 (although they never had a signed contract). This raises a really interesting question. How different would Schumacher's career have been had Ayrton Senna lived. I honestly believe that Senna could have won between 6 & 8 titles in total. This would've had a major impact on Schumacher's title haul. Food for thought???
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago 3
