These are soooooooo pretty, i love their bronze color with a tint or red and their black triangle on their side gives them a elegant look. I just added 5 to my tank and i love them! are there any foods that help bring out their beautiful colors? i want them to be at their peak! :) Harlequins are now my second favorite fish, cardinal tetras are my first but harlequins aren't too far behind. :)
well those are enough fish for your tank.and the number of fish do affect the nitrite levels witch mean the ammonia too.but if you add more fish like that, more bacteria will grow and you will be fine
Good question! As a matter of fact, this video was taken in a dealers aquarium. They have a filtration system with sumps that greatly increase the total amount of water in the system. The general rule of thumb is to place 1 inch of fish per gallon of water in a freshwater aquarium. This would equate to about 10 one inch fish for your aquarium. It is of course much better to keep less than that, there is less chance of disaster :) They are a cool fish... no?
A sump is another body of water, usually a much larger tub or aquarium where the water is exchanged from the aquarium and the sump. Usually water is pumped from the sump into the aquarium and the aquarium has pipe that overflows into the sump. This way, you can filter the water in the sump (usually underneath the aquarium or behind it) and return clean water back to the aquarium. You can also hook up multiple aquariums to the same sump in this way. Dealers and wholesalers use them.
Just a question. Is it healthy to keep fish in this quantity for any period of time? I mean you see them in the shops swiming happily like this but would it affect the nitrate levels in the aquqrium? I have only a small 35 litre aquarium and 7 fish. How many more could i get? thanks. Nice hARLEQUINS. I have two happy harlequins who are best of friends.
these are very nice harlequins... i dont like the other types of rasboras as much as these... are these captive bred?
