They really aren't that hard... mines the perfect dog and hes only 8 months old. Just remember, they yearn to please you, reward him for just chewling on his toys, and if he goes for something he shouldnt chew on, take it away and quickly replace it with one of his toys and reward him. :)

I'd love my lab to look more like that, do you have his kennel club papers etc?

Generally the dogs that are specifically bred for hunting and field work are more streamlined and smaller. They all are considered pure bred, but some dogs come closer to the breed standard and qualify to show.

One of my dogs I have now is also named Kodiak, he is a wolf and Alaskan Malamute mix. I just put up a video yesterday about him and my other dog, Nikki.

He's cute, but you really shouldn't use a choke collar. If you have problems with him pulling, use a harness instead. A choke collar can cause their trachea to bow inwards, causing problems breathing later in life. They can also get caught on things (like fences, pieces of wood, other dogs, etc.), causing a panicked dog to choke to death. Many dog parks ban the use of choke collars for that reason. If you ARE going to use a choke collar, you shouldn't use it while the dog is off the leash.

She loves the water and I can't seem to keep her clean, I may put her out in the fenced back yard when it is cooler, she likes to go there in the daytime and play with the basset hound on the other side of the fence.

I agree, chocolate labs are the best.
My chocolate lab doesn't like to chew but he certainly loves getting in the trash, oh, and barking. Galley he barks a lot.
