You know in genetic terms calling someone white is a very bad description. White haired tall person from Sweden has quite many genetic differences to a dark haired person from southern France... why do we call both white? The homo sapiens replaced homo erectus around 250 to 200 thousand years ago, and colonized oceania around 40 000 years ago from Africa. Then the homo sapiens reached Americas from 30 to 20 years ago, of course by then some minor adaptive evolution had already occured in terms of skin color. This is the modern theory, but new finds of course could make this theory obsolete, but currently is thought to be valid.
