And there are NO official statements by the big 3, or Cummins. In fact...its always the same statements....of how 1/2 ton programs were cancelled. The EPA doesn't want diesels. And THAT is who decides...not government owned motors. Just look at Europe. Diesels everywhere cause they need the economy. Here...the EPA even "banned" the VW diesels after 2005...up until recently. 44MPG in my moms 2005 Golf. Unavailable in 2006 and on until recently. Diesel friendly USA?

The US Government is very very very unfriendly to diesel technology. DO NOT expect to see any diesels in 1/2 tons...ever. In fact...I won't be suprised if it goes away altogether because of the liberals and enviro flat earthers. The emission regulations are outpacing the technology and R&D costs...on purpose. It will soon become very cost prohibitive to develop diesels that only emit air from the exhaust. There comes a point. We're almost there. Trucking will suffer also. By design.

@troy5251 Where's the proof? None of the big 3 diesel sites have any posts on this OLD topic in the last 3 months. You'd think the whole "diesel world" would be discussing it. But they're not. The facts are what they are. Hope you're not standing in line outside ANY of the dealerships waiting on yours. :)

@hvguy cummins is supposedly working on a 4cyl. turbo cummins for the half ton trucks. GM did have a 4.5 liter duramax for the 1/2 ton truck but scrapped it for some reason. it was a 315hp v8 with somewhere around 500 lb feet of torque. i havent heard of any figures on the 4 cyl. cummins.
