NO STEALTH PLANE IS! what stealth does is it lessing the radar signature from the size of a house to a fly on the radar,
the only reason why serbian shot it down was because the planes were flying the same engress and degress routes into serbia and serbia used low res radar which can detect stealth planes BUT it has a one in a 60 million chance of even finding its target

F-117 is out of servce in hibernation - They are still maintained and are ready to fly whenever needed - it was the F-117 that drop the bomb in Iraq - Dont be surpise that this plane shows up bombing again - after all hundreds of bombing sorties with one loss to flight path error prtty much says it all - the russians lose more planes to corrosion and maintenace problems -

@alfredinch Because the F-117 is not a fighter, its a bomber, the F/A-18 is also not the best fighter because it too is not a true fighter it is also an attacker hence the /A in the desingation

Serbia didn t shut down anything. because of the reason Tu49 says and because they fired one or more missiles at clear night sky with a chance 1 to 1 gazillion to hit the plane. and it was so close that the pilot thought the missile was headed at him and ejected. f117 doesn t have warning radars and stuff due to stealth purposes. it has good old gps and infrared cameras. if only this plane could fly by itself

@bestamerica Look at Space Shuttle - America designes it - Russia steals it - call is Buran (Snowstorm) - they look almost identical. Russia does not invest billion$ in development - when KGB can steal the plans for a million!!!!!! Are they smarter than we are?? It was Russia trying to keep up with AMerica Space program that made Russia fall - we CAN out-spend them!!!!

@bestamerica So I guess that you think Russia is a great country? Yes they are - but they have admitted that they stole plans for Shuttle and for Concorde many years ago. They made plane called SU-141 - AKA: Concordsky from stolen English plans of Concorde. You see stealing plans as bad - I see it as rather smart - let others invest billions in test - just steal the right plans!!!!!!!!

B if you look at the 144 it looks completely different than the Concorde, Concorde does not have cunards nor flaps, two traits on the Tu-144. plus the droop snoop on the 144 was for looks not for actual purpouse where on Concorde the Droop snoop helped pilots land. plus the Concord had better handleing and control

@Tu49 - Just a typo - TU - not SU. Russia ADMITTED they stole the TU-144 plans from England - (the frame plans) - and England admitted that they put known flaws in those same plans - THAT was the reason the TU-144 crashed!!! With the exception of the front canards - (not cunards) the TU-144 and Concorde were EXACT replicas!!!! Both noses "drooped" so the pilots could see the ground during landing!!!! Handling and control - you made up - how do you know how a crashed plane handled?!?!?

@Earthlinked have you ever seen Concorde pictures and Tu-144 pics, they look completely different. the reason why the Tu-144crashed was because the test pilot took a turn wrong at the french airshow and it forced extreme stress on the plane causing an inflight break up. and also if i remeber correctly, america had a supersonic aircraft as well
plus and this is big, Concorde is not an english plane

@Tu49 YES - I have seen pictures - and the TU-144 crashed becasue the frame broke - PERIOD!!! The Russians SAID it was a turn - but the English put a flaw in the plans that Russia swiped!! And take the canards off the front of the Tu-144 and it is EXACTLY like the Concorde - it was even called "Concordski"!!!
America knew in teh 1950's that a supersonic plane would NEVER be wor it's while - they gave up in teh early 1960's. They were proven correct - Concorde lost BILLIONS when it was flying!

Also the Concorde was built by England AND France - and was so expensive - BOTH governments had to fund it. That is what started AirBus!!! Throughout it's life - Concorde NEVER made a profit - and when it was grounded - it was $14 BILLION in debt - which the English and French citizens will pay in taxes!!!! And America knew this 40 years ago!!
America's new system will travel into space - and back - New York to Paris in under 1 hour!!! All NASA theory at the moment - but it works on paper!!!!

What grounded Concorde was the crash, what shelved it was the drop in passenger flights in the post - 9/11 times.
Concorde was a huge money maker for BAC/Areospace as well as for Air France and British Airways. if you knew one thing about avaition/areospace you'd realize this. plus the Tu-144 has other differences to Concorde, the wing tabs, size, oh and did i forget to mention the tail, it was a completely different aircraft than Concorde.

@Tu49 YES - YES - YES! The Concorde accident was a blessing - the French and the British were looking for ANY reason to shut down Concorde - it was losing millions per week! Make your excuses - Concorde was a money loser from the very first day - and both England and France knew it!! And you are DEAD WRONG - Concorde never make $1 in ANY year - I know becasue I helped design the computer system that will pay the $14 billion!! So they closed down a profitable flight - due to a flat tire?!?

@Earthlinked no, what crashed the concorde was the tire pressure was held so high, that when the tire ran over a peice of debris on the runway, the tire exploded and sent debris into the wing of Concorde forcing a chain reaction that force fuel to spray out of the birds wing and causing it to catch fire.
Now Concorde was fuel efficent, a flight primarly for and only for the rich and famous, Concorde had a super loyal fan base which meant the companies could profit from the plane outside.

@Tu49 WHAT A REAL GOOBER!! It is called ADVERTISING - That is the reason for the Pepsi colors - and featured in movies. It was a very unique airplane - and very well built airplane - just NOT PROFITABLE!! Tickets ended up being $7900 one way - and $15,000 round trip and that was all people would pay!!! But for a profit - $21,000 one way and $40,000 round trip!!! It was simply a VERY expensive airplane - and the US knew this in the 1960's!!!

The stealth technology is amazing that only 1F 117A was shot down by using a combo of modifying the radar wavelength and guessing the fighters flight paths.

I don't like it when people say "AHAHAHA F-117 got shot down in serbia", As a matter of fact. NATO made them go in the same flight paths all the time. Now they will have a better flight plane. F-117 isn't as agile as the stealth aircraft now. But the F-117 has the BEST ratio in bomber history i think...

@Tu49 VERY DOUBTFUL - the B2 was first flown in 1989 - it is 21 years old - the F16 was first flown in 1976 - (34 years old) and not a single F-16 aircraft has been lost - NOT ONE - nor has a B-2 - but 21 years of perfect flight and 34 years of perfect fligh - I think 34 years is a bit longer!! And bomb to target ratio - (NOT a military term) depends on weather - the bomb and the pilot - as does mission success!!!! I'd think "bomb to target ratio" is 100% as all bombs are sent to some target!

Are you serious? How much military training do you have or have with these aircraft? Have talked with Air Force personel/pilots that were there or apart of these operations? Because your in a "no fly zone" you cant get shot down? Get out of here with that! Hmm funny how Goldfein himself says he was shot down and guess what, HE was the commander of the base where I was stationed, HOLLOMAN AFB. What base did you go to for your crew chief training?

Today is the fifth-generation systems using S.A - 21 The fact that the most modern aircraft shot down an obsolete system shows that the plane is a piece of shit. . In terms of absolute air superiority system SA - 3 was used with 30% capacity and rockets were fired "blind" the radar is switched on only in the last 5 seconds missile flight.
