You're on the right track here, but you're wrong about a couple things. 1st off, not all drugs release dopamine in your brain. Some substances, like weed, bind to the cannabinoid receptors in your brain. Different drugs make you feel good in different ways; if it all had to do with dopamine, then all drugs would feel exactly the same. Besides, dopamine isn't the only "feel-good" chemical up there; serotonin is another main one.

But you are right about how they can positively impact your life, depending on what you use, and how you use it, so to speak. Tripping can be a tool to learn about yourself and put things in perspective, for example.
