I agree I will never forget the first time I read, 'Murder Of The Impossible.' I know it sounds corny but it changed my life. Back when I first read it I was doing a lot of aid climbing (dirty aid climbing with pitons, copperheads etc). I quit using pitons and copperheads started taking my free climbing more seriously and converted to using only clean aid when necessary. I think it really is a better game when you refuse to alter the medium in any way as Messner suggests.
