As far as romance goes, I love Gwen and Rhys's relationship - and Jack and Ianto will always hold the biggest spot in my heart. But you can love a person and not be IN love with them, and that's how I see the relationship with Jack and Gwen (so do Eve and John, as a matter of fact.)

Such a well acted, awkward scene. I think you almost have to be ADD to get this show. Is it a sci-fi thriller or is it a character study? Both, really. Just when you think you can say what this show is, you'll have an entire episode where the sci fi is a moot point.
I don't think Jack is in love with Gwen. He deserves better than someone who cheats anyway. I really hate how people seem to excuse Gwen and act like she and Jack would be good together.

Gwen's face when he's kissing her cheek says she doesn't want him to let go of her - his looks as if he might cry (and just afterwards, too).
if you notice too, they could have killed off any two characters at the end of season 2 but thy chose Tosh which tells me that there is a relationship going to develop between Jack and Gwen. dont hold me to that though, just my thesis.

I love this little love triangle.
I remember watching this scene for the first time, i was just there, my face inches away from the TV by the end of it.
It's these moments of ...awkwardness, longing and people trying to figure out who Jack wants, that makes Torchwood.
Though here... i think it shows (a little) that he does want Gwen (aswell?) because of the prolonged kiss and his face.

Yeah, and I almost feel sorry for Ianto, as gorgeous as he is, cause he's really the "boy toy." That's why I like Jack/Gwen -- they seem like they have genuine feelings for each other.

After "... thought of coming home to you" Jack looked ready to declare his feelings if he got just a sign from her.
In a later ep when they use part of this scene in a 'previously', Gwen is saying something that was edited out of this episode, about "...I need someone I can count on..." I wish we could see all footage/ a script!
Gwen's face when he's kissing her cheek says she doesn't want him to let go of her - his looks as if he might cry (and just afterwards, too).

if you notice too, they could have killed off any two characters at the end of season 2 but thy chose Tosh which tells me that there is a relationship going to develop between Jack and Gwen. dont hold me to that though, just my thesis.

Now, I'm a Jack/Ianto shipper, but I will not deny that there is something between Jack and Gwen. It's more than obvious. And, it's sad to say, but I do think Jack would break Ianto's heart over Gwen's, and I'm almost sure he will in the end.

i think jack does love gwen, especially at that bit in meat whn she comes in and says that she wont drug rhys, its so obvious, i think gwen loves rhys, but like a friend, but i think she is in love with jack. when she said noone else will have me he should have said, "I would".. that would be so romantic... i wish they would just tell each other... grrr

And the swoon when he kisses her cheek!
It's the fact that they can't be together that makes it so good! The star crossed lovers thing.

Jack is from the 51st Century, from Doctor Who we know how the 51st century has no categories, there is no gay, straight or Bi and that's why Jack is so flighty, it's just his time. So, I guess it's right to say that Jack doesn't know what he wants, and he has a bit of an internal fight going on. Obv likes Ianto, but also feels jealous when Gwen gets engaged. Poor Jack :( Make up your mind!

Yeah, he asks Ianto out when they are looking for the canisters. Jack and Gwen so obviously love each other, I just hope Ianto doesn't get hurt when they FINALLY admit it. Ianto is sweet, bless him, but Jack/Gwen all the way!

yes he did and he would have plenty of time before this moment to ask ianto out, but it was only after he found out that gwen was engaged that he asked....i love everything about gwen/jack and i dont care what others say about Gwen, i dont care who you are if someone like jack came into your life. who wouldnt be rethinking their lifes...i know i would be LOL

Well, it's very logical that Jack and Ianto are just having a bit of fun. I don't think that Ianto loves Jack...I think he still loves Lisa...and if Jack loves Gwen...they're sort of like really good friends with benefits, for lack of better terminology.
