  • When you opened the hood, the Turbo was after a drive like the end of a jetfighter...totally in Burn.

  • Coolest commercial ever!

  • I recall reading that Saab Automobile never made any profit on the car's! And the biggest pain in the side was 1: Sagging roof linings that not even epoxy could sort out! 2: The 5th gear would smash because of the alloy casing of the gearbox output shaft would crack! - Anyway how the heck they drove these in their designed environment I'll never know, Whenever I took mine out in the snow, it was too heavy to find any grip! - On a + though, Everyone gets out of your way (B-:)

  • Have had 5 Saabs! (1st): 1975 3dr 99GL = Great! - (2nd): 1980 5dr 99GLE = Didnt want to go over 50mph, until I went down a big hill, then bought the (1st) back for the Engine! - (3rd): 1982 3dr 900Turbo = Broke it on a motorway BECAUSE the guy I bought it from bypassed a cut off switch/valve! (4th): 1982 3dr 900EMS = Rebuilt completely, only to have the Head Gasket fail 10,000miles later! (5th): 1981 2dr 99GL = From an Auction, changed the shaft that drove Waterpump=OK, Fastest too!

  • Gotta love this ad. The atmosphere, the music, the images, the jet, the car... I love Saab.

  • @rautapuoli go buy one then ffs! the whole company is about to go belly up.

  • Owned three Saab (900 turbo) over a period of 15 years, the happiest days of my motoring life.

  • This commercial was the first ad to emerge from The Brand Bucket now a trade marked methodology that underpins the marketing of thousands of products and services across the globe

  • I had a 900, and it was full of problems. fuel gauge broke, pie pan noise under car, leaking coolant into passenger compartment, headlights wouldn't shut off. now I have a volvo. MUCH BETTER !!

  • I am sorry but the last great saab was the 900

  • @lawtowngirl85 Yes, but not the last true one. The 9000 was the last true one

  • @VTS1337 yea a cry for help getting eating by gm

  • @lawtowngirl85 Sort of, but the 9000 was 1985, and GM pitched in in 1989, because Saab truthfully was going downhill, as they only had two engines, and two models (900 and 9000). The 9000 in the 90s remained remarkably untainted by GM even though GM owned 50% of it then, the only thing that GM did to the 9000 was put a dirty great V6 in it on the Griffin and some other CSEs that was large and lazy. The 9000 was killed off in 1998, to make the way for the 9-3s/9-5s. They at least had B232 engines

  • Saab has to redo this commercial whit the new 9-5 and JAS Grippen

  • @tony565565 I'm no fool, but you sure show the symptoms of one. Here's your quote: "dont buy american, help put them out of business. no bailout!!" COEXIST means that BOTH stay in business. What you are saying is that Swedish cars should flourish while American cars flounder, as if the Swede's success is somehow dependent on what other American makers are doing. While I admit that GM could have managed Saab WAY better, I still think they did their best in handling a brand they were not experienc

  • @tony565565 *ed with. There is plenty in common with the two. Style. Reliability. Performance. And most of all, soul. Saabs are unlike any other car, and American cars are slightly different but can also produce the soul-stirring effect that a true automobile lover longs for. They both have emotion and passion. I own a 2009 Saab 9-3 2.0T with XWD, and it is an unbelievably fun drive. So is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, which is also in my garage. GM and Saab would have been perfect. In my mind, h

  • @tony565565 *ad that worked out better, Saab would have been a force to be messed with. Everyone refuses to admit that it was GM that got Saab on the map when it came to luxury and competing with German and Japanese cars. They planted the seed, and so now it is Spyker's turn to make the best with a treasure of an automaker - Saab. As for American cars, they too are getting a second chance, thanks to the bailout that you seem to despise - and will blossom into their potential as well, like Saab.

  • @tony565565 Also, when I say there is plenty in common with the two, I mean Saab + Swedish automobiles and American automobiles. Harbor no ill will toward GM, who tried.

  • @Hawk6DM

GM restricted what types of cars they could build, and the parts they were allowed to use. GM nearly desrtroyed them.

  • I LOVE MY 900 ! it's the B212 Engine with 2.1L no turbo but it's been doing 272k miles and Still takes me to my office daily ! I will never sell my swedish beauty, it's my girlfriend now !

  • @hadabenz You are right, keep it well, you have the rare 2.1ltr engine which was only availble on early 90s american models and had more hp than the standard one

  • I loved my 1986 saab 900 turbo. RIP at 416,211 miles

Went to SAAB dealership in 2008, test drove a 9-3 turbo and....i chose to walk home.

GM SAAB's SUCK, But the last year and half i will admit their cars were looking REALLY good.

  • Look at the video at 0:16. There you see a unice stretced Saab 900CD "Corps Diplomatique" built in the Finish, Valmet Factory in Nystad in 502 ex between 1981 to 1986. Look at the stretced wheelbase, and compare it whit the " regular Saab 900". The Saab 900CD was the following production from the Saab Finlandia wich were orderd in a NOT serial number. The Saab Finlandia started whit it´s base on the Saab 99 CC GLE in 1976. Excuse my bad english on this little notis about a UNIC car from Eourpe.

  • Once SAAB ......... always SAAB.

    The best car ever build..

  • I remember fondly owning a 1980 900 back when I was 17 and in High school. Everyone else wanted Mustangs or Trans Ams but I was in love with my Saab. Plus it was cool that I was the only one in school with a SAAB.

  • HEY FOLKS I'm not sure what to say about the US Involvement with SAAB I do know that THANKFULLY we still sell SAAB'S Here in the U.S. I Currently drive an 01 S 9-3 4 door hatchback. Which I admit beats hands down anything I've driven in the past. IF I have my way about it. SAAB will be the only car I drive from this point forward.

  • @mesquiteguy1221 my friend had an '01 9-3. It was trash... at least comparatively speaking. The older the Saab, the better it is. It wasn't uncommon for classic 900's to get over one million miles. The cars were built for longevity and reliability. American cars (Saab after 1990) are designed to break down at a certain point so you have to take them back to dealership and have new parts put on. Automakers make the most money on repairs and parts, not cars in my opinion.

  • @XlPH0S Thank You, Well I have had min e for over 5 months now, And so far no complaints. I like the fact that in the city I live in, A SAAB MIGHT be 1 out of every 10 other cars you might see on the road. So that is pretty unique to my way of thinking, I rather like that.

  • @mesquiteguy1221 The USA Saab makes up 1% of the car population. Not bad though? I got an email from them when Spyker took them over that said they want to go back to their roots; how the company used to be. I hope they do.

  • @XlPH0S YEAH I know, That's another reason I enjoy owning and driving my SAAB, Sort of like being a part of a unique club, Not JUST anyone Drives a SAAB, While EVERYONE else drives the OTHER Types. WE, US unique and SPECIAL People choose to OWN and DRIVE a UNIQUE car from a VERY Unique Country. I LIKE that (Need a Smiley face here)

  • @tony565565

    It is done with SPYKER!!!

  • your aesthetic sense is biased by disney and mc donalds, I'm sure you drive a pontiac and find the prettiest in the world. It's called envy.

  • @juanlaga LMAO I'm putting a stamp on that, but don't forget public opinion. A lot of people only like certain things because they look around first to make sure everyone else likes it too. I originally got a Saab because it was quick, drove smoothly, and NO ONE I knew had one. Now it's just common sense to have one.

  • @XlPH0S guess I'm not part of the sheep herd then

  • @juanlaga Yes sir! Be proud about it too!

  • Saab should have stuck to jets, their cars look like they got down syndrome.

  • @Jaket2000

    You sir should leave

  • @traingunner I didnt say anything bad about performance or reliability I just think they are one of the butt ugliest "next to the porsches" eurocars out there.

  • "Nothing on earth comes close".

I guess the Bugatti Veyron is from outer space then.

Seriously, to all "Saab lovers". Love the car as much as you want, it won't change the fact that Saab never succeeded, ever, as much as Volvo did.

It never had a legacy left behind, like a BMW M5 or Dodge Challenger R/T ('71 and '70). The sales didn't suck back then as much, but suck even more nowadays. No "Sports saab" was able to save them.

    Put a simple 900T againts a 518i: 518i wins.

    & inB4 "Y watch if h8"

  • Behind the Sunglasses is Massa.

  • Saab was my first love and still is.

  • My fuel quantity gauge doesn't spring up so quickly at 230,000mi

  • Viggen!! love this plane ! <3

  • Classic saab ad but after 2002 they seem to lose there style. But with new ownership saab will come back strong!

  • This is truly the most awesome and magnificent car commercial ever made! :D

  • Saab are back! cant wait for a new 900 or a sonett.

  • Saab was beast before GM fucked everything up.

  • @Iwishihadatvr To be fair, Saab was already broken and on the verge of bankruptcy in 1989 and GM managed to keep them on the life support for 20 years. But yes, GM never figured out what to do with Saab and as a result the brand was neglected and it almost ended up going belly-up, until the last minute when Victor Muller from Spyker stepped in and Saab was saved. Thanks Vic!

  • @JELH yeah, hope spiker does a good job this time

  • @Iwishihadatvr yeah, then GM dumped them last year...the bastards didn't know they were dealing with. They put Vauxall Vectra diesel engines in, while keeping the 'saab spirit'. They wanted to make saab, once a rather rare kind of car...to a common-or garden diesel powered, boring family car.

  • @Iwishihadatvr Gm was involved in management and money only. The cars were still designed and built in Troll hatten Sweden. They are still a SAAB and the best car I have ever driven.

  • @Iwishihadatvr There's a reason why SAAB was flailing in 1989 and NEEDED to be bought out by GM. They couldn't make turbos and transmissions that lasted to save their lives. Love the car's engineering, handling and exterior/interior design but I'm REAL glad that GM brought in Japanese component makers for the tranny and turbo.

  • SAAB - Nothing on earth comes close....That's by choice

  • There IS A SAAB 9000 @ 0.45 cause i'm from sweden and i see 9000 everyday so i really know how they look like.

  • Strange. Seems to be only that one picture.

  • My love, being a swedish national doesn't qualify you to make predictions about a car that wasn't even conceived in the engineers' thoughts at the time of this ad =)

My family owns 6 900s - two cabriolets, two 3-doors, one 4-door and a 5-door, three 9000s, and a 9-3. I not only SEE Saabs every day but I DRIVE them, too. I'm telling you, that is a full-blooded 4-door, a 70's model by the look of the door decor. I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

  • @saabnico

yes, for those who dont believe it, look att the hood, there is no intake for det ventilation :)

  • Goodbye Saab. I will miss these unusual cars. Sure Lexus & infinity build great cars but Saabs were unique.

  • Lexus and infinity don't even come close when it comes to toughness and reliability.

  • Winding down was overturned on 26 January 2010 as SAAB was finally bought by Dutch luxury carmaker Spyker with help from Swedish government.

  • saab make aeroplanes:)lol

    volvo produce the engines

    get real you guys

its a car, not an aeroplane, never seen one fly yet:)lol

  • These were the says when Saab cars really were 'Born from jets!'

  • @ansettnz100 Now from 1999 its like 'Born from GM' ...yuck

  • Love it, just love it. Great car, Great ad.

  • Weird! At 0,45 you se a SAAB 9000 from above. It doesnt have a grill in the hood.

    Check it out!

  • thats a 900

  • I know that the commercial is for SAAB 900, BUT there IS a SAAB 9000 hood/bonnet at 0.45!

  • it looks like it but if u look close u can see the raised edge of the windshield that was only in the 900 models the 9000 had a smooth edge. its pretty obvious that they used 2 different cars because at :34 he gets into the Right door like a euro car but at :47 he's on the left side like american cars.

  • No no no, it is the 9000 that has a raised edge at the top of the hood, it is where the intake is and the windshield wipers are mounted. The 900 has the intake grille in the hood and the wipers mouting over the hood.

  • RAISED WINDSHIELD EDGE!!!!! not hood

  • I´ve had 9 SAAB 900 and 5 9000, I know when I see a 900 or a 9000 ;-)

  • wouldnt trust one as far as i could kick it. volvo i mean.

    there shit!

and ugly. i love cars in australia, they still have theyre flair, even if its a ford or a holden.

  • This is the most beautiful ad Ive ever seen (and Ive seen many of them)! It is so elegant and understated, and the harmony of sound and image is just perfect.

Im going to apply for my first driving test soon. When I pass the test I hope I'll be getting a vintage Saab. What a great looking car!

  • When I first passed my test in the UK, to get insurance on 1987 Saab 9000i 2 litre was £2,500...

  • thanks for posting this! Saab has the best ads, I really love this one, too (have to see over and over again...)

  • Hi,does anybody know how can I get (or where) Saab 9000 97'advertisement for great britain in good quality??? Tnx!!

  • nobrainz00 ur name lives up to u

  • Sorry it's more like ~00:44-00:45 where it looks like a 9000

  • The pounds that are being spoken of are pounds sterling (£), as in proper money.

  • Comment removed

  • the guy with the car looks like he got shafted hes like AWWE SHIT

  • haha, thats pretty sweet... love my 9-3

  • how could you hate the old saabs?????

the only thing is hat when saab was bought by gm saab cars were crappy so if you want to insult saabs insult the new ones

  • Just if you or anyone knows, what did GM do to the quality of the 9-5? I heard it's part Vauxhall/Opel and part Saab. Can anyone confirm that? I wouldn't buy a GM Saab through principal tbh, just curious.

  • Unless you've driven a Saab you wouldn't understand.

  • have to agree 100% with you

unless you have experienced a saab you will never know what was missing in your life

  • You dont have the two things Saabs , and Saab drivers hold 1. Class 2. performance, my guess is you must drive a small poorly made common looking auto that can easily be had.

You sir are a Cock Jockey....

  • Best saab spot ever!
