  • Lovely to hear Sam Browne and he's first rate in this song, but who's the band? It's not Paul Whiteman, is it? (He's the only "King of Jazz" I know, but then I'm from the US.)

  • I love when Sam Browne gets a chance at these "art songs:" to me this is his forte. A very handsome piece, thanks!

  • Great tune, nice to see a bit more of your room.

Are you a Nostalgist as well?

Nostalgists are people who put their nostalgic feelings into practice, wear vintage clothing, decorate their houses in old styles, etc.

  • Wow! What a great looking room. The phonograph looks right at home as if it could be 1927 in there.

  • Interesting how the lyrics rhyme "morn" and "born" and "gone" with "dawn." The singer however pushes "dawn" toward "dorn" to rhyme with the first two. Some American regional accents would say "mawn" and "bawn." Since these also rhyme with "gone," I'm guessing the lyricist assumed the singer would sing it that way. Funny thing, accents. In some parts of the Northeast US they used to pronounce "shirt" and "shoyt."

  • Uh...that last line was supposed to read "shirt" AS "shoyt."

  • Luckily I found the record immediately.

I just uploaded the Hylton recording of this song. Recorded in Berlin in May 1930.

  • Do you know Layton and Johnstone did a very good version of this?. LOVE Edison Bell Radio!!. Bing and the Rhythm Boys take some beating too. I'm for Sam now!

  • It is a slow song! But it gifs a realy good picture of a ricing sun in the morning with the dawn on the gras. Some good songs are on small records! And this is again a great record!!!

  • I only knew this song recorded by Jack Hylton. This recording is so different. Excellent!

  • Yes,i always think the Hylton is the best dance band arrangement of the tune, even better than the Paul Whiteman.

  • Superb!
