2:21 he is putting it into gear with what looks like a stick shift you would have in a standard transmission car but at 2:29 he is clearly using the paddles on the steering wheel to shift the transmission. i'm confused does anyone know what that shift knob at 2:21 is for?

@1984wrx it's a most likley a Tiptronic Transmission. Alot of high end europen cars use them. It's kind of a mix between an auto and a standered with out a clutch peddle the floor shifter is used to pick a shift mode auto shifts like a normal auto auto/standered shifts more like a standered it'll shift down to engine brake and let you hit the rev limter and in standered you use the paddles to shift They're fun for about 2min then you wishing you had a clutch peddle to mash

@Tygearianus Actually not one has a manual, not one AMG on the market does and I love that fact. For me it was the E55 vs the E60 M5 and the autobox and the daily driveability was key. Manual is fun and awesome in say an M3 on the track but the SLR and all the AMG Mercedes are built for GT/Road and that makes them really comfortable. The M5's SMG is a little sluggish in traffic, the E55s torque converter gearbox was perfect. Just put your foot into the floor and go. I hope they don't change.

When I saw the original I almost cried a bit when this guy said they ruined it with all the heavy leather and luxury's and the shitty cc brakes but just having all the leather etc. changed to carbon fiber and better brakes would've been enough for me, with all the F1 style paraphernalia now the interior is just down right ugly and this version is not a legal street car :(.

Um, the R8 V10 is slower than a Porsche 997 Turbo - which has even less horsepower than the V10 R8. The SLR 722 is in a completely different league ABOVE the Audi R8 V10. Audi doesn't have a super performance R8 version except in certain European race championships and those are not street legal.
