@evox3222 i dont think toyotas are considered to be called VTEC....its called VVT for toyotas but its the exact same thing as VTEC, but im pretty sure they are called different things
@TheVengefulCo This is a track car, not a muscle car, I have a 300km/h v12 bmw but I still like my celica. I admit the build quality isn't the best but they can be built to be a cheap and capable track car.
@TheVengefulCo also, more like 130... Dont call a POS what you don't know. I'll ASSUME (not calling, assuming) you like the american cars best. In that case, I got news for joos.
@Imreadingthisaloud yes i'm from US... fat.... approximately 350 lbs for both lol..... is it that there is a big difference between the UK and US version ?
@The44445544 well....yes!it was 10.28 seconds from 60-100, i think mines takes under 8 to do that, unmodified. Our emissions law doesnt restrict the breathing so much, i guess it makes that little bit of difference!
@Imreadingthisaloud now i have a new altima coupe with a 3.5 at 270hp and i do it in 7.7?sec or least with a catback and SRI.... the altima weighs a lot more but pull very more harder than my old celica :)...and where I stay, the elevation is 1040ft
@The44445544 I ment to ask what RON the fuel is you run in the states? the lowest we get is 95 but RON 99 is avaliable too and it sure makes a difference!
@Imreadingthisaloud i run with the AKI 91 (=95 RON) but fuel stations will offer 87, 89, and 91 AKI (91, 93 and 95 RON) octane fuels, and at some stations, 100 AKI or higher octane, sold as racing fuel. the highier i see is the ethanol-based E-85 fuel with 105 AKI.
@The44445544 thanks man, educational! just thought the difference in combustability might of been another factor in it, i generally opt for the RON 97, ive seen comparisons and with high compression engines it make like 5-10% difference, il c if i can find a link to send u to see it!
i start in 2nd gear because i need a new synchro for my 2nd gear, 2 person in the car,Mod : AEM Cai + Vibrant Axelback + 17 wheels with nankang 205,45 r17 + mwr main and rod bearing, if you want more vid click on my profile i have a up hill 60 to 95mph and one wheel burnout :(
For those who want to know, a set of piper stage 2 or 3 cams will give the midrange a hell of a lot more punch, but the top end will still remain fairly lacklustre unless you get that mapped via a power fc ecu.

man, shift After redline. you can tell your acceleration is slower shifting too early.
Joanchovyy 3 months ago
@Joanchovyy The Celica GTS has a rev limiter at the redline so you cannot shift after redline.

@bigguns16 it's a stick, you can hear the shift. celicas with automatic transmissions generally have a rev limiter at 6000 rpms.
jeremihc 1 year ago
@jeremihc Celica GTS's with an automatic have a rev limiter at 7800. Not 6000. If it were at 6000, they would never even hit lift.

my friend owns a 2000 celica gts, i absolutely love going on rides with him, that lift is extremely noticible, very similar to the v-tech in hondas
