@ryanrenesis A foot fault is when the player touches the line during their service motion, before and during contact with the ball. By your logic, if a foot fault occurs when a player touches the line only when they make contact with the ball, they could just stand a metre from the net and serve, as there is nothing stopping them from stepping on the court before contact.
