  • When I was in the monastery and seminary, decades ago, this was used on ordination day as part of the liturgy. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

  • It looks like the Mormon Tabernacle Organ and the building, so maybe these people might be part of the Mormon church.

  • @organrick Yes, this is performed in the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City. I had the chance to sing there myself when I was in BYU-Idaho's Men's Choir.

  • *Beautiful last note*........awkward silence. lol

  • Almost 40 years ago, when I was a young man, I lived in a Roman Catholic monastery and was a seminarian preparing for the Priesthood for my church. This was a festival piece that we sang on feast days. It was very moving, as there were nearly 800 of us in those days. We sang it as we entered the Seminary chapel. We had a nice Mohler organ, 4 manual, don't remember how many ranks. But it was wonderful to sing it. This brings back happy memories from a happy time in my life.

  • I like this hymn.

I am sure the organist hit the wrong note briefly at 0:18 on the pedals, otherwise good.

    Good choir as well.

  • I love this hymn. I'm wondering if the Mormon Tabernacle Choir might have sung this piece?

  • @DrTerminus I hope not, they generally manage to butcher traditional hymns.

  • this song is so ackward to sing..we tried today in class...so confusing

  • Oh how absolutley beautiful!!

    Rise Up!!!

  • Heard this song for the first time at a pastor's conference, almost brought me to tears.

  • I remember singing this for the Fall General Conference as a missionary. October 1998... when I was a wee lad as a missionary... lol

Was it really THAT long ago?

President Hinkley was conducting. I'll never forget the spirit and warmth of that man!

  • i get to sing this to the prophet

  • Wow! I just got goose bumps listening to this powerful song. :D

  • Yes! Rise up Men of God. So nice to see this beautiful choir. Thank you for this song!
