  • I am a recovered fibromyalgic who left the care of the medical profession to discover the cause and cure for this horrific disease after 15 years of failed treatments. I understand this illness completely from the inside and back out again. Symptoms are often mistaken as a cause and what can help does not cure. Please, do not give up and keep going. See my You Tube video "Curing Chronic Fibromyalgia - Choosing What Works" and my best wishes to you all!!!

This is a good description of symptoms. Symptoms can often be mistaken for the cause, and treatments that help do not cure. Do not give up from failed hope. Keep going! See You Tube video:

  • I'm a medical doctor w/ 5 crushed discs, history of cervical and thoracic fractures, and intermittent periods of fibromyalgia.

Wasted a lot of time, money & hope trying to get help from other physicians before realizing they all hadn't a clue. All guesswork and theory, limited in their studies & thinking to the limiting predjudice of seeking a 1-size-fits-all explanation and/or treatment. It will never work.

  • I remember back pain so bad that I ended up selling my car (A honda accord) that I truly loved and buying a mini van. I would've been stuck "babying" my back and living in pain but then one day I saw the John Stossel piece with Dr. Sarno and it was like the light went on. Know the truth and the truth will set you free.

  • Actually, most of the so called medical explanations for pain are not based on any concrete evidence. RSI for example is not really a damaged tendon or muscle. It is a temporary change in blood flow.

It's fairly easy to look up this information on public medical records on the internet.

  • We are doing research on a mind body approach to fibromyalgia and will publish our results in a scientific journal later this year. There are about 10 million people suffering with fibromyalgia pain in this country and many more around the world. The available medications and other treatments do not help the majority of people with this very real and very painful condition. Our approach shows great promise and we will continue to conduct research to try to show this efficacy.

  • I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and lactose intolerance and was told it more than likely had to do with my ability to metabolize Vitamin D and Vitamin C not something tragic that happened in the past. What happens is that the bones thin and swell causing the bones to reach the nerve beds in your skin causing extreme pain. Again I believe its irresponsible for medical professionals as well as others to make people feel like they have some underlying mental condition. Get educated!!!

  • I'm sorry, but there is no evidence in the medical literature that Vitamin C has anything to do with fibromyalgia. Vitamin D deficiency can cause muscle aches and pains. Anyone with muscle aches and pains should have their Vitamin D level measured and if low, should take Vitamin D supplements. However, in our experience, supplementing Vitamin D rarely cures fibromyalgia.

  • I think that placing fibromyalgia in the catagory of mind syndrome is just plain irresponsible as a medical professional. Just because doctors are misinformed or lack the education to find out what it really is all about they want to classify this as a mind syndrome or condition. I think that alternative therapy is good but not a cure for these things.

  • FM is not a mental condition, but the effects of how stress and the body interact. In order to figure out if childhood and adult stresses are related to a condition such as fibromyalgia, back pain, headaches or other related illnesses, I conduct a detailed history to see if we can connect the stresses to the onset of the illness. We are usually able to do this which helps us understand the connection between the mind and the body. Thanks for your response and I hope you get better soon. Dr. S

  • Read Dr. John Sarno's books "The Mindbody Prescription," "Healing Back Pain," or "The Divided Mind." Over 500,000 people have been able to reduce their own TMS symptoms by reading the books alone!! Relief after so many years!

  • What is the name of this doctor's website?

  • Great question and great summary of how to decide if you suffer from TMS
