  • I guess octopus don't like Cindy Lauper

  • "The octopus was very scary"

    "Octopus?"

  • I guess that octopus had a bad TASTE in music!

  • Menudo truño! No me extraña que la cortaran.

  • was this really deleted? i recall seeing this in the movie everytime it was on TV when i was a kid

  • lol wow. I am very gladthat was taken out. It was by far the worse scene ever in the movie. I mean I know it was a kidsy adventure movie but that was a bit over the top.

  • "Goonies never die!!!" - Immortal Technique

  • That wasn't too bad haha just a lil weird throwing in the tape cassette player in the octopus. But couldn't tell if it's running away or dancing hahaha

  • Yeah that pretty bad!! I was all excited because I thought it was gonna be cool, but it just turned out to be a very wide decision to cut it after all. That squid looked way to cartoony

  • In the version where this was cut out they still left Data saying that there was an octopus when they're all being interviewed by the reporter.

  • @iamsupa1 Reporter: What happened out there, were your lives in danger.

Data: The octopus was very scary.

Which is when I looked on YouTube for this scene :-)

  • @iamsupa1 Same here. I actually read the book prior to seing the movie and as they say, the book is always better than the movie, I tend to agree. Never the less, the movie has a place in my heart and I'm glad to learn the movie did include such a scene.

  • Why would you?

  • i swear they left this scne in wen they air the movie on tv

  • Yeah clearly tell that was fake and gay

  • So weird that I somehow saw this ages ago and I'm not sure how

  • Data's line was funny, but the rest of that scene sucked. Wise move to cut it.

  • Probably would of ruined the film.

  • i see why it was cut

  • not that bad of an effect but yeah, it's too surreal.

  • This scene would have killed the film

  • Donner and co got it right. Had they left this in, it would be an unsightly blemish on a classic film.

  • This scene would have ruined this movie.

  • LOL, this is amazing, my entire life I always wondered why, after the amazing journey they had, Data felt the need to lie about a giant octopus at the end of the movie!

  • @TheAtheistFuture Me too, specially because Lawrence is the one who should lie not Data. But I'm definitely glad they remove this scene :)

  • Only in an 80's film would that gag get put in about how great 80's music is. Near on every film aswell had the line. " Hey come on, It's the 80's." Or "wake up and smell the 80's." i can see why it was cut. Because it's dated now. Right choice then.

  • I like that song "8 arms to hold you", sometimes they keep this scene in tv airings

  • When the music starts playing and the octopus swims away dancing it's the most fucking illogical thing. I mean, really. XD

  • i saw this scene ONE time and I always thought it was a dream because I never saw it again

  • Ha! I'm going to have to repost to Facebook... I have an ongoing argument with some friends about this scene- they don't remember and think I made it up! Why would I make up a movie scene that caused me to be freakishly afraid of octopi?

  • It just doesn't fit with the rest of the movie & was best left out.

  • I always loved this scene. saw the movie with this scene when I was a little kid, then i saw a different version alter without it... and ti wasn't there. I thought I had just imagined it lol

  • LMFAO!!!! Thank god they took this scene out.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • This is very, very pooh. If this would have stayed in the movie I would have grown up a total moron.

  • This scene is actually pretty awful. I think that's the biggest reason it was removed. Kerri Green in a wet sweater, however, is worth suffering through a crappy rubber octopus scene any day.

  • I knew this scene was in this movie! I thought I was going crazy when I saw the newer movie years later and it wasn't there!

  • Lmao mouth tries biting it

  • @awesomeandboring lmao i know right

  • LOL octopus loves music! XD

  • they should have kept this in it would have made more sense

  • No one believes me when I mention this scene.

  • @Witzk01U Me neither... :'(

  • this used to be the scene I remembered the most until they took it out :P

  • Lol, it wouldn't suprise me if: Now for the first time, a BRAND new movie: "the goonies" It will be released for the first time in 2034, You've never seen anything like it!

Would be something they would do :P

  • Hah, I love that Mouth bites it.

I knew I remembered an octopus!

  • haha i always thought data was lying to make their story seem more exciting... i wonder why they cut this scene out, its great!!

  • @MegaSam777 i guess cassette players don't work under water eh?

  • I freakin LOVE Mouth(:

  • I really hate when movies go and have scenes cut out I originally remember. Takes away from the feel of the movie. Every part of the movie is essential to the whole even if it doesn't seem like it. Yes the girl was all worry crazy like threw most of the movie. Remember she use to have glasses and questioned each thing they did and was panicky. Who cares if it looked sort of fake, it was a children's movie.

  • That was nothing like the real movie....She was all...spazum like...?

  • that was a terrible scene! thank goodness it was deleted!

  • Several scenes were removed from the final version. Remember that the map was burned? Well, there's a deleted scene at the grocery store when Troy give it a fire and pretend to smoke the rolled map as a cigar, and another one outside the restaurant. (Both are on the related videos over there →)

Anyway, I'm glad they removed this one, that octopus looks SO fake, as the attempts of Stef and Mouth, pretending to fight it LOL)

  • It's hard to see, but around 0:47-0:49 when Data goes underwater, you can see a person in the background (probably a prop person controlling the octopus.) and again at 0:51

  • That sucks that this is a wasted special effect octopus.

  • Oh come on, this never happened on Popeye

  • CRAZYZEZ!!! this was locked in my subconscious for so long.. Definitely remember seeing this when I was a kid.. I didn't see it in the theaters so it must have been put back in for the broadcast tv version or something.. HILL-AIRY-US!! Looks like the hippos from the old Jungle Boat Cruise at D-land.. Feeling old now..

  • I KNEW THIS PART EXISTED CAUSE I HAD BOUGHT THE DVD N IT WASN'T THERE LOL SO I'M NOT GOIN CRAZY HAHAHA

  • I knew it existed. 25 years of thinking i was going mad...

  • I can see why they took this out. An octo vs kids might as well have been a grizzley vs kids.

  • Im so glad they didnt put that in, it would of completly RUINED it!

  • Why have I NEVER seen this before!?!?!

  • ive been telling my 2 brothers this scene was out there since like 93-94 and now i finally have the proof. I think I even stopped believing me until now.

  • I always thought when Data commented about the octopus he was just making it up, embellishing the story. Glad they cut it from the movie, this ruins the scene.

  • oh man for eighteen years my sister's been tellin me this was a scene in the movie and I never believed her! hahaha damn sorry sis

  • @kray1192 ive been telling my 2 brothers this scene was out there since like 93-94 myself. finally have the proof.

  • Of course Stef thinks mouths touching her butt..classic

  • Its been a long time since I've seen this movie and just introduced it to my son last night and noticed this scene was missing! I thought I dreamnt it which is why I am on here youtubing it to confirm I am not crazy!

  • ... seriously? Damn am I glad they took this out lol

  • If there was a remake of this movie, they would for sure be able to do this scene.

  • the coolest time for music; that tune was rad...

  • It's funny cuz in the end wen there talking to there parents in the end they talk about the octopus woops

  • Good thing this was not in the movie.

The goonies was such a great movie!

If this scene was in the movie, it would of fucked up the whole movie.

  • that would be freakin scary if Data wasnt there

  • It's safe to say that if this had made it into the movie Goonies would probably be remembered today as "one of those goofy 80s movie" instead of the classic from our youth that it is today.

  • ok so the octopus was awful i agree it was a good decision to keep it out of the movie but its still hilarious!! plus any extra screen time for mouth is fab he is awesome =]

  • i new there was a octopus in the goonies i seen it in 88 thats the onley time i seen the octopus.

  • It's awful. The best thing watching the Goonies when I was a kid was "wow, maybe I could explore a dungeon someday and find a treasure!" This ruins everything! So unrealistic!

  • HAHA the robotic octopuss. im pree sure they sold this to SeaWorld, who the fuck else would buy it ahaha

  • the octupuss was jamming out to music lol

  • Man, I hate that they deleted this scene. When I try to explain to people this was in the movie originally, they look at me like I'm psycho. 'THAT WASN'T IN THE MOVIE!' And I yell back, 'IT WAS IN THE ORIGINAL VERSION YOU DAMN, DIRTY KIDS!' lol

  • @EZ3FalconJoker The octopus scene was never in any theatrical or home release of the film. The first time it was ever made publicly viewable was as an extra on the DVD version. I saw The Goonies in the cinema in the first week of release and it wasn't in the film.

Why would you make up something like this?

  • @dmh79 Look dude. I saw the movie on VHS. I've never seen it on DVD. I'm telling you it was in the original movie. You can go blow you smoke somewhere else.

  • @EZ3FalconJoker

    No you "look dude".

I saw this IN THE CINEMA WHEN IT WAS RELEASED! Then I bought it on VHS when it was released. This clip is from the DVD special features. It was never included as a scene in the cinematic, VHS or DVD versions of the film. From what I've read, the octopus scene is sometimes put back in on the TV version in the US. Maybe thats where you have seen it? I 100% know for sure that it was never in any cinematic or home version though.

  • u can see this on the new goonies the 25th aniversery with deleted scenes

  • this reminds me of bella lugosi and the octopus in Bride of the Monster

  • as a kid, i could have sword i saw this part.

  • @mommysantichrist me too

  • @mommysantichrist This scene plays most of the time when its shows on TV

  • lol "GIANT SUSHI!!!!"

  • I was always confused when they mentioned this at the end.

  • yeah this would have just pushed it too far. Sort of like aliens at the end of the latest Indiana Jones movie did.

  • They should have used Rick Astley-music to make it more realistic.

  • This was one of the best and important scenes. reason why i say this is because the part when they are talking to the press and the police they mention this part and if you never seen this part then your going to be like there bullshitting the press, plus its a fictional movie in the 80's if the teeth catching on to the cave thing wasn't real enough i think this would be more realistic.

  • I have scened that deleted scene in one of the versions it doesnt look that unrealistic I dont know why this does

  • Glad they deleted that

  • glad that wasn't in the movie.

  • I got 3 letter. W T F!

  • 0:18 BITCH SMACKED!

  • Then why did they keep Data's line mentioning a giant octopus?

  • Now that scene at the end when Data says to the police ' The part with the Octopus was really scary' makes sense i always thought i had missed something.

  • really data? music IT ONLY MADE THE OCTOPUS DAAAANNNCE!!!!

  • @MrKhalil9 Maybe next time we'll stuff the best of Van Hallen or Red Hot Chilli Peppers into the octopus and see what happends.

  • @realisation21 I think that within the context of the final version of the film, we can just assume he's exaggerating in order to make the story sound even crazier. they should have had Chunk say it in order to make it fit with his character type (telling tall tales).

  • @realisation21 lol same

  • @realisation21

What part does he talk about the octopus?

  • @Rimsa at the very end when they all meet up with their parents and reporters. When I originally saw it over 20 years ago, they only mentioned an octopus but there was no actual scene.

  • @realisation21

ha i felt the same way,

i cansee why they cut it though lol.

  • kinda turned into a howard the duck videO...maybe itz better deleted...

  • I like how Data just HAPPENS to have a tape with a remix of Eight Arms to Hold You. :D

  • …ha ha ha, oh wow — I'm so dumb. I could swear that The Beatles had made a song titled 'Eight Arms to Hold You', but apparently I got that mixed up with the original title for their movie, "HELP!".

    My bad.

  • Haha Steven Spielberg tried to add a little Jaws to the movie, just didn't work!

  • I have not seen this scene in I dont know how long. The Octopus scene kind of scared me a little.I guess this where I got my fear of octopus from.

  • GIANT SUSHI HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

  • LOL data! "GIANT SUSHI!!!" xD!

  • I think it had merit....lol

also...if you are the cute guy who works at metro who recommended I check this out---good idea! You should ask me out! I'll suggest we watch this. :D

  • @LibZep sure thing give me a date.

  • @rangerjavi lol...man! now i'm living in Toronto again. Sigh. Well the next time you're in T.O.: look me up. libbyjh@hot... The next time I'm in dwntwn Ott, I'll have a new goonies reference for you.

  • i remember i only saw this scene once in my entire life. and every time the movie came on tv i'd always get mad cus the octopus wasnt in it! and everyone said i had imagined it. thank you youtube.

  • @seventydreams lol same here! saw it once as well, then never again. my girlfriend told me I imagined it all. Glad to see I'm not crazy.

  • @jaydem816 Yea same here!!! Its from the OLD VHS and TV version...

  • @seventydreams yah the HBO version had the octopus in it

  • "Giant Sushi!" Hahaha, great line!

  • Comment removed

  • the girl has a white shirt on they didt relise it till after awhile and you can see her chest :\

  • GIANT SUSHI!!

  • cant believe this movie is 25 years old.

    A quarter of a century...

when this movie came out, 25 years earlier was 1960. Bleagh!!

  • @0m1nous You're a mathematical genius, you know that?

  • @NeverContactMe Yep, actually I did know that... now can you tell my wife please?

    BTW, may I contact you?

  • GIANT SUSHI!

  • OH SHIT IT'S ADMIRAL ACKBAR! IT'S A TRAP!

  • nobody belived me that there was an octopus scene in the goonies i was called crazy, delirious, and stupid. thank you utube for showing this and proving me right!!

  • @funpack000 OMG, ... i also said there was an octopus scene ... but i was also called crazy, LOL, ... small world... good thing we were proved correct, thanks to youtube ... LOL

  • WTF WERE THEY THINKING!?

  • I would shit myself if I saw something with eyes come up out of the water...

  • It's a good thing they did leave this out. I LOVE The Goonies, though for me this clip doesn't work and cheapens the rest of the movie.

  • Glad they deleted it

  • the dumb bitch is completly useless, what was her role in the movie anyways?

  • @skyarsalan Martha Plimpton was one of the most talented "kid" actors of the 1980s, and even though she isn't given as much to do as the other kids, she does a good job with what she IS given.

  • @thefilmidiot

thats exactly by point if shes so talented why is she put in as a filler character?

it drives me mad when people put in useless people into the movie, thinking that people will enjoy the character. ironically they ruin the mood of the movie

  • @skyarsalan I am pretty sure you are in a minority thinking that Martha Plimpton's character ruined the mood of this film. Her character works great against all the younger and far more hyperactive kids who are bouncing around the scenery.

  • Nooow I get it, I always wondered why when Data says at the beach that the scariest part was the giant octopus... they should have kept it! love it! XD

  • Good thing they removed this scene. Very stupid.

  • General Akbar's great great great great great great grandson!

  • @virgil592 ADMIRAL Ackbar*

  • No. I watched this movie several times as a kid and I specifically remember this scene. How can it possibly be an omission? It's even on the copy I have. Maybe I have the movie from THE FUTURE *echo*

  • @RabidMustang yeah, i remember it too on the original vhs and the first tv runs. it disappeared sometime in the early to mid 90s from the tv versions, and the later video releases.

  • @TheMichigami At least I'm not alone. I thought I was bloody crazy!

  • They deleted the scene where Karri Green and I fuck: I know, it was three hours of it, so it couldnt be in it. She was SO good...I have the special disc make, w/that Octopus deleted scene...and mine and Karries together.

BTW, SUSHI SUCKS!!! ITS ALL A PRETENTIOUS, STATUS-QUO DELIRIOUS HYPE. TAKO, ESPECIALLY, SUCKS!

  • I remember that they used to have this scene when it was aired on TV. That was probably 10-15 years ago. Suddenly, they cut it out, and I never saw the scene again. I hated that, because it doesn't make sense. When they are on the beach, they talk about the octopus attack.

  • @Goutetsu13 I always wondered about that... and yeah it was cheesy and unbelievable... but compared to the other cheesy and unbelievable stuff in the movie, I would have totally bought that scene and laughed. They should have left it in :-) It's only a minute... it's a cartoonish octopus for 73 seconds -- not Jar Jar Binks for two and a half hours!

  • Haha, you can't compare the ridiculousness of this scene to a sci-fi movie lol.

  • weird...i feel like a actually saw this scene when i was a kid. but that doesn't make sense if it was uncut....somehow i remember it from something? commercial maybe?

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • @THEWHIPLASH there's no boobs

  • THis scene makes a great deleted scene haha epic! B)

  • GIANT SUSHI!!! hahahhahaha

  • WHEN did they delete this? I totally remember this scene!

  • at :30-:32 -maybe thats why it got cut?? see through underage boobies

  • I said stop it!

  • ok that was interesting

  • GODDAMNIT why didn't they put this brilliant scene in the movie??!!!

  • i totally remember this scene too!!! i thought it was my imagination after they just started showing the original cut. but i totally remember!! its weird! i wasnt crazy!

  • What is the title of the song on 0:58?

  • @hilarioph What better fitting song than, Goon Squad "Eight arms to hold you". The video is on here.

  • Good call keeping this out.

  • @cincye yea cause it was in i would have been clueless.

  • I'm glad this wasn't in the movie, i love the goonies, but this is ridiculous.

  • @GrantPowerhead yeah.. my god! thanks god thats this shit is not in da movie.. so lammmmmme

  • haha they shouldve left this in

  • how is this a deleted scene.... i remember this scene clearly....

how many yrs after did they delete it...
