Erinnert mich eigentlich zu sehr an die aeusserst einfarbige deutsche Gesangsschule, wie z.B. Fischer-Dieskau. Um ehrlich zu sein, weiss ich nicht genau, warum er als der beste Bass-Bariton gilt. Die Stimme wirkt sehr warm und ausgebildet. Das ist der aber auch der Punkt. Dadurch, dass hier auf einem Gleis gesungen wird, welches keine Abzweige kennt, ist die Darbietung monoton und nicht naturell anzusehen!Nur die ganz grossen Saenger wie z.B. Caruso, verstehen es Ueberraschungsmomente zu setzen!

This aria is bloody difficult to sing-really very demanding in techniqal terms- it displays weaknesses in voice range and technique. To master it is a real task.

Here you are able to witness the most magnificient singing you will ever come to hear in this aria. Terfel`s legato and seemingly effortless technique is superb. Add to this the richness of tone and immaculate german pronounciation. Well done.

Well, that is how this aria should be sung. You will not find much better.... Perhaps Joseph Schwarz, Even though his deutsch ist not so perfekt like Terfels. Still he leads a great legato...

But, I must admitt: Brin is the One!
