Did you ever get your lightsaber fixed? If so do a re-post video if you still got the Crystal Focus board. Nice saber so far though. (Yes I know this is an old video).
@jedimastergarcia87 Nah. The cost and time it would have taken to ship it out and get it back was too much. I'm thinking about working on a new one though. Haven't kept up on the saber tech for the last couple years so I have to do some research.
If you go out and buy a forcefx lightsaber, you are a nerd.
If you order a converted forcefx that you can duel with, you are an uber-nerd.
if you can order all the separate parts, do all the wiring, and build a replica lightsaber that performs this well and is this realistic, you are fucking awesome!
I just want to say that I think it's amazing how people can make their own lightsabers and have them turn out really nice. How does one make a Lsaber? I mean lights, sound, etc. It's just awesome.
make 1 that wil cut through metal and i will get rid of all the people that you dont like and then of course use it for my self and if you dont belive me ill find them just give me their first and last name and the state or country
i would like it if some1 made lightsabers just like the 1s in the movie but it didnt slice through peaple that be awsome i .bet peaple would make lightsa23ber tournments
sound effect is wrong.... thats a sound from a sith made crystal not one from a found and shaped crystal like the jedi use. at least to my noob knowledge.. i mgiht totally be wrong. you can tell from the slow purr. wher as all jedi sabers hum. its hard to describe... like i said i might be totally off and they can sound like that. idk
The electronics are housed in the hilt itself. The light in the blade comes from a super bright LED that is housed at the emitter which is normally powered by 3-4 AAA or AA batteries. The blade itself is made of polycarbonate plastic -a clear and super durable material- and it normally has some type of film or paper on the inside that diffuses the light from the LED, making it appear as if the blade itself is lit. Basically a Luxeon saber is a complicated flashlight attached to a plastic stick.
What are these for? I mean... they would break if you used them for "duels" right? And doesnt one feel a little lame, swinging one of those around? xD lol
Luxeons were created for the purpose of dueling. There is no light in the blade itself which makes it perfect for beating up your buddies with them. And if you're insecure, then of course swinging one around would be embarrassing. Most people who are in the hobby however have moved past such trivial societal shortcomings so they can actually have some fun.
I used to fence, and it was fun. I tried Kendo (fighting with practise Katanas (shinai)), but it was too fast for me.. Rounds were over too quickly, because the swords were lightning quick. No real chance to parry. These look somewhat slower, so it DOES sound kinda cool, I am a SW fan after all =) Are the techniques serious though, and is this a real sport? Or is it just people meeting in basements.. lol Besides: im from Norway... Small country, probably not any jedis around here=(
Most people use them for decoration purposes. However I'm starting to see them used in stage plays and choreography competitions more and more as of late. Heck, just take a look around youtube here and you'll find some very impressive videos. I wouldn't consider it a sport. Not by a long shot. However, for entertainment purposes, they work wonderfully.
are you going to release this? because i hate how the toy sabers either make sound when you strike and have all but three sound effects or they have effects when you swing but are off cue and are shitty.
i got a set of blue pink/purpleish and a green and red plasticswords there are about 5 tubes so u can put it down and put it on ill make a vid with em later, if i can figure out how .. hehe
man i want onea those ;) im pritty dorky too ive been doing role playing school etc etc with just star wars, power rangers and ofcourseharry potter erm well im a great actor but i dont want my friends to find out cus then they'll think im a dork lols but i would love to b able to go to sw conventions etc etc and meet new ppl as dorky as me ^^
Seriously man. Once you are out of there, you'll never see 99% of them again. Act like a geek, be yourself. The people that stay friends with you after that are the only ones worth keeping. I learned that way too late.
im hopefuly going to try and make a custom version of K'Kruhk's lightsaber (he is a whipid jedi hu is good at not dying, he is in the the animated star wars series and fights grevious) anyway does anyone hav any tips on how to keep it cheap? nice vid by the way! the optimus thing was neat.
Good old Toys R Us. All the retail stores had them but TRU seems to be the only place that has them now as it's been over a year since they were released.
Just curious: what do you think of makototsai's LED-chain sabers? I really like what I see in the videos, but I don't know if they're real or not. His saber appears as bright as or even brighter than the Hyperblade, yet he claims his construction is far cheaper overall. Yet, makoto seems fairly reluctant to provide me with the name or contact details of his LED manufacturer.
So one more question: If I want the best possible 5mm LEDs for a chain-saber, where do you recommend I look?
Honestly I really don't know. I've never worked with a chain of LED like in a Hyperblade or ForceFX saber. Though I've never had any LED from Radioshack fail on me for other applications.
A very difficult-to-find guide I read concerning Luxeon sabers was to use a construction that paired a white luxeon with a colored film that had a hole in the middle that produced a VERY accurate "white core" effect. How exactly it did this, I don't know, but it looked really cool on paper. You don't suppose you could try and show me this sort of thing personally, do you?
It might very well provide an accurate coring effect. However, I've found the lenses really cut down on the level of brightness. I could potentially try what you're asking, however I don't have the funds at the moment.
If your subscriptions didn't involve both hyperdynelabs and thedisturbance I might actually take your comment to heart. But when I saw that, I automatically knew you were one of their personal shields. Especially when a Luxeon builder comments on a hyperblade in another video. Congrats on failing miserably.
take it however you want to take it...I suscribed to them because I am researching their info to possibly buy a saber...I also suscrive to Timsboots but it doesn't mean I am one of their personal shields...fact is you said "super bright" my response was a difference of opinion...sorry it wasn't sugar coated enough for you
Well if it's an consolation this was using a Custom Saber Shop blade. I've since switched to one of Ultra's blades which lights up quite a bit better.
In my opinion, that blade was super bright. Especially compared to the royal blue I made a year before hand with a Corbin blade.
Sorry for lashing out, but it seems hyper and anyone affiliated with him have a nasty habit of attacking Luxeon sabers and their builders. I had assumed you were one of them.
I've also shortened the blade by about 4 inches, further spreading the glow more evenly down the shaft. This one was almost 44 inches long, which I found was way oversized and just looked tacky. I'll have to put up another video here soon showcasing the changes I made.
In regards to hyperblades the only thing I really care about is that they are brighter than the MRs...which is true...and that they are louder than MRs...which is true.
There's only way to truly know which company makes the brightest blade and that's to have a third party do a fair and equal test.
As far as Luxeons go...they seem pretty damn bright. They also have the extra glow at the base of the blade which I think is cool.
apology accepted...after all we all like lightsabers
hey out of the art of wanting how much would it cost for one of those i am a SW fan and i also am an avid duelist in the art of sword and it would be neat to have one of our vid compilations with a couple of those either way i give props for the fact you can make that and weither i can get a couple of those or not right on man i like it
Overall, a completed one with a hilt from the custom saber shop would probably run you anywhere from $200 - $600 depending on how extravagant you want to get with the parts. The board itself is around $140 shipped so tack on everything else you need like the LED, and such.
hae bro h0w old are you? im 19 and think toys rule! star wars rule! geeks rule! haha, dont worry about the mocking dikwodz. there is n0 age limit too happyness. i too have a lightsaber. myn is created by master replicas.

Ah, glad you figured out that it was an "untamed" solder joint or wire. Covering ALL of those kinds of areas will eliminate the possibility of shorts... unless a joint simply breaks. And if THAT happens--well, you'll be certain of which wire it is once it's taken apart... :)
No questions are stupid, Muffin... let's see... as to shorts--look to cover all solder points with electrical tape or something to prevent wires from crossing.
As to an aux button--it looks like you have an extra button already? Maybe that's your kill switch... hmm, dunno. :)
