  • not just a magnificient vocal performer;but also a great personality.

  • she's good

  • Faye Wong is cool!!!! I love her!

  • @BobLeKatt everyone's entitled to their opinion even you. She's adorable, way cuter than your hero Robert Plant

  • shes the cran berries of the Asians :D

:/ Hong Kong's golden years imo.

  • Chungking express

    the movie simple

it sets a mood in the viewers like no other movies can

    indescribable

    the ending was great :D

(let the viewer decide on how the relationship will play out) [instead of letting the writer think for the viewers]

all and all we need more movies like Chungking Express

  • That coat makes me feel kinda funny, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class. Those long sleaves are impractical for anything other than tying her up.

  • @NeoVictorianX Long sleeves like that are part of traditional Chinese dance/theatre culture. Wong's here are obviously a modern take on it.

  • So much better than those Chinese love ballads, innumerable and banal, she too often sings. So much better than the Cranberries.

  • Amazing!

  • Nice song !!!

  • Faye... must be on something LOL but in all seriousness, I LOVE HER ENERGY

  • I could live without the heatre that seems to be a part of every HK concert, but Faye is on top form here - better than the original.

  • Original song is by Cranberries.

check out theirs as well! both are really nice

  • very nice. done ..

  • Nice Song...

  • Chinese Goddess of music, I'm serious her talent is limitless

  • Anybody knows Jing Cai , please help, that song rocks da world, heard on a plane from China to Dubai

  • hail and salute to the original song writer who make this song happen

  • Beautiful girl with a even more BEAUTIFUL VOICE :-)

  • She is so cute man, even before14 years she is still beautifull

    but it is still good

  • this cover is so much better!

    love it!!

  • he might be thinking of "Suzhou River" but no mermaids in CKXpress

  • Hi guys. I wonder, is this the only cantonese cover version of the Cranberries' "Dreams"? or, there's another one?

my little bro said, he liked the chinese version more than the Cranberries. something from his childhood memories. but he said he remembered in the chinese film, there was a mermaid character.

I've read Chungking Express's synopsis. it didn't mention any sort of mermaids.

So, I wonder what my little bro claimed is true or not (about another cantonese version in that mermaid film)

  • Yes, this is the only Cantonese version of Dreams by Faye Wong. And it only appeard in Chungking Express. I guess your brother might have mistaken another nice song called "Angel" (also by Faye Wong)as "Dreams". "Angel" appeared in a well-known Chinese movie roughly translated into "Mermaid Legend".

  • but i heard this song in another movie with lin qing xia a half mandarin half cantonese film

  • yes, Faye has another version of this song in Mandarin (Cantonese is mainly used in Hong Kong)

  • buena musica para el buen oido

en el cual ase llegar un mensaje de amor

  • i love this song

    i love this dong

    i love this song

    i love this song

    i love this song

    say no more

  • Hi,

If you don't mind, can I get the English translation of this song as well please & thanks.

My fiance and I would like to play this song in English/Cantonese/Madarin version.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Cheers!

  • ohmygod I've searched for this song for years.. finally found it!

    thanks!

  • I think the cover is better than the original

  • My wife recently passed away... this was her favorite song.... One she listened to while in the hospital... While, being Chinese she understood the words; I not being Chinese did not and never asked her for a translation.... Now its important that I know the words if they are different than the original English [Cranberry] version... I would appreciate a literal translation if anyone can send me same

  • this is the best of her time,I think

  • Nobody does this song better! I do not care who did the original. Vive la difference!

  • she can sing.

  • i wish she would come to germany! that would be cool ;)

  • aweesome

  • God only knows how much i love Faye Wong

  • I agree!!! Faye and Dolores should do this song live together!! that would be such an experience!!!

  • Don't like it as much as the cranberries version. This version seems to be sped up a bit which takes away from the epic feeling I get from the original version.

  • haha i like how you use the word epic to describe the feeling,i feel the same way its hard to describe but its epic lol

  • It would be nice if we can have both Dolores & Faye side by side on the same stage singing this song with both of them singing a verse each in Cantonese & English.

  • I've never heard the original so for me this is the original version.

First time I heard it was in the movie Chungking Express.

It gets better every time I hear it.

  • oh my god chunking express!! dam loved that movie. It sort of defined what being chinese was like in the early 90s. though i know not many liked it. i loved it

  • I am loving that woman!!!

  • what is up with the clothes and the hair?

  • faye was the only artist in asia that had a nice canto pop style. She had style that broke tradition and an attitude that just shut alot of gossipers up. loved that.

  • As much of a fan of Faye Wong that I am, I still prefer the original Cranberries version.

To my ears, the original is simpler, more open to interpretation, more raw, and more of a dream state/a state of realization and moment of epiphany versus the cover which focuses more about the contents of the dream itself rather than the dream state.

I do like this cover, but to me, the feel of the original phrase of "You have my heart so don't hurt me," seems to have gotten lost in all of the specifics.

  • OK people, stop saying she perfected it, i know it sounds good, but not as good as the original...

    Still good I guess

  • She's my goddess!! I love her since 1989 when i was in Standard 1.. She's perfect!!

  • I was yearning to her when I was a student.

  • que porqueria.

  • Escucha bien antes de criticar!

  • original style by cranberries but Faye perfected it

  • thats awesome

    !!!!

  • This is my favorite Faye song! It introduced me to Faye's wonderfull music after watching Chunking Express on DVD for the first time. What a great, great movie that is btw!

  • so cool~

  • I first saw this video on the ferry going from Hong Kong to Macau in 1997.

  • A ripoff from the Cranberries' Dreams; but I will remember Faye Wong for that MEga Wierd outfit. I purposeful pulled out my sleeves so that it would cover up my hands like Faye Wong while I was singing the original Cranberries version at a Karaoke get together yesterday!

  • I believe it's actually the other way around. The Cranberries came out with this song AFTER Faye. And I think Faye's version is MUCH better. =)

  • Agree. I lived in England at the time. Faye sang better!! Even surprised my western friends.

  • how on the earth did you come up with that idea? The Cranberries did the song after faye????@!@!!!

  • Cranberries came out first and Faye Wong perfected it.

lothlorien88: a rip off from the Cranberries? Are you familiar with the idea of song covers?

  • She's a bit crazy but i like that about womens haha :D

  • wierd outfit but I love this song specialy by Faye Wong shes got a great foice
