Before Segovia gave his premier concert at 16, the guitar was only used for folk music and played by peasants, and was not considered an instrument of importance. He brought the guitar back to the concert stage almost by himself. Furthermore, he commissioned composers to write new music for the instrument (including Torroba), brought back the old repertory, and was one of the first guitarists (along with Agustin Barrios) to be recorded on vinyl.

In short, Segovia probably did more for the guitar than anybody else for any other instrument. Thank you, Maestro!

I gave 5* before I even listened--as much as anything, I give 5* for playing so masterfully with those short little pudgy fingers of his. Maybe there is hope for those not gifted with long fingers, (ever see how long someone like Jimi Hendrix fingers are).
