yes you're right. i'm having the same frustration. on the first cycle he plays DOWN UP DOWN DOWN UP DOWN, then after that he just uses alternate picking, UP DOWN UP DOWN...etc...
i'm sure somebody will correct me out there, but they are using a lot of minor or (aeolian) scale, which is also common in metal. it uses the same notes as a C major scale, but starts on an A. They also use a lot of the Phrygian mode, (3rd note of major scale) which gives them more of that "latin" sound when not playing their metal riffs. these guys are fucking phenoms. going to see their concert in 2 weeks!!!!!
Of course this are Metal techniques ! That's this guys background ! And of course it is brilliant ! What would be wrong with Metal heads ? Hey ! Dave Mustaine just crushed Moon Unit Zappa and George Clinton on Jeopardy ! Also, it is proven by science that most guys with the high IQ marks listen to Metal ! so how about that !
( you can play this on anywhere on the guitar it's the same thing). With the strokes "Down-Up-Down-Down" he means that the first note you stroke down, the second up and the third down after that you continue the down stroke and hit the fourth note and then up to the fifth note in order to play faster. Srry if you can't understand, my english sucks. Ask questions if I didn't make something clear.
no i got what the notes hes playing but whats the style of picking hes using i mean i got an idea on what it is . oh and i think i commented on the dude who says rodrigo is stoned
yes man i'll help ya! he does what he explains only for the first two triplets, when he starts with a down stroke.then as soon as he comes back at the strat, the stroke is up and from there on he just alternetes. i think the reason is he wants to start with a downstroke but then it is easier to alternate, so the pattern goes: up-down-u-d-u-d- etc.
Where are parts 1 and 2?

@MrFricknfrack936 Yeah they use phyrigian a lot, they are also mixing it with the common Spanish scale (a bit more chromatic)
