The planet is going to take a hit. Our generation will have some say over how much of a hit it's going to take.
Permian style extinction takes a long time - however, we are applying a much stronger forcing than what we think happened then. We are taking the planet into unknown territory, and the wild events we've seen in the last year are tiny compared to what's in store.
@greenman3610 ugh. well at the very least I can keep hope alive. Through the videos I have watched of your, I have convinced my father (a republican christian creationist engineer) that climate change is real. He is now focusing on geothermal heating and cooling. Thanks!
Carbon tax is a disgusting crime against Humanity. CO2 whether man-made or otherwise doesn't drive global climate, it never has, it never will, the Sun does...
the most likely explanation is that increased particulate matter from industrialization, a period of active volcanic eruptions, and natural cycles, combined to slow warming down. 50 years ago, CO2 was less of a driver than it is now, and even more likely to be lost in the chaos of variability.
when the clean air act went into effect in the US, damping particulate emissions, which block the sun, warming took off.
@greenman3610 CO 2 is not a significant driver of climate, the Earth has had in it recent past periods warmer with less CO 2 in the air, and periods of dramatic cold with as much as 16 times as much CO 2 as we have now. Sorry I know it is a religion, but it's just not true.
This lie gets boring. When its hot its obvious global warming, when its dry, it is also global warming, when its cold it is also global warming, when it snows or rain it is global warming. OK alarmists, lets turn off all the coal power stations, lets also shut down all refineries and switch off all nuclear power stations and lets all go happily back to our caves - maybe it is not such a bad idea, seeing that the US can't pay back its debt.
Why not we just stop bombing poor people to feed our fossil fuel addiction, and use the technologies we have to free ourselves from domination by cartels and outlaw corporations?
@greenman3610 They are feverishly typing their coup de tat essays destroying all global warming hysteria, summarized as such "Blizzard? WHAT GLOBAL WARMING LOLZ HA HA HA" I can hardly wait for the new batch of mind numbing teenage level repartee once they are finished shoveling mom's driveway of course.
@bigdog1849 El Nina is over now we should start to cool. Any creditable climatologist will tell you that this winter will be biter cold and this coming summer average temp will be below normal. but I know it hard to grasp that climate change is natural.
@sensless1mc : I see you keep up with creditable climatologists, 94% of which believe man is causing climate change. So if this summer was 'below average,' what would that mean?
@anthonypellino how little they have done for the environment look at the investors the one making millions off of weak little punks like your self jackass! Why don't you go do the reading before you try to look smart.
@anthonypellino there has only be global warming since the industrial revolution? Then what the about the little ice age or the 50 year brought? The planets weather has never been the same it's has always been changing smart guy. Global warming was a scam to make money more scientist have openly came out against it then support it. It has all ways been that way but you Eco babies just cry louder. You want to do some reading? Read about the global green banks there profit in Europe and how litt
There is a reason why GW "scientist" will not debate anybody at all. Al gore has challenged real scientist to debates but gore ALWAYS cancels most be to busy getting hand jobs in his hotels. All GW science is editing the results to get the out come you want
uhm, your first mistake is thinking Al Gore is a scientist.
Your second mistake is thinking debates don't take place. Believe it or not, they don't take place on the internet, or on Fox news. They happen in the scientific literature - where 150 years of hashing this out have convinced all but a tiny minority of scientists it is correct.
Then, there is the occasional near fistfight, captured on video - google
@ripley747 they did get busted in those emails. It would not take millions of scientist there is not even a million scientist spewing the GW garbage. The scam comes from the top. If you watch these video and believe the BS the clown that makes these videos says then you are are to stupid and not worth my time to explain it to you.
At first GLOBAL WARMING was gonna melt all the ice and raise temp around the world. Then it started to get colder the ice stopped melting so the "scientist" said o yea that's a part of GLOBAL WARMING to.
All the scientist that agree on GW all got it wrong so they change there science to climate change what will they change it to next
Look at the people behind GW every person that push GW has billions to be made they don't give 2 shits about the planet only green they care about is in there pocket. Look at the European cape and trade owned by less than 7 people making billions off of selling nothing. It's a scam
@dieseldudee So wait. Climate scientists are making billions off saying there's GW? I must be in the wrong profession. They are all in on some worldwide conspiracy involving thousands or people? Watergate was only a small handful of people and they got caught. What makes you think the thousands of climatologists are even attempting a conspiracy that would be considerably more complex than watergate w/o whistleblowers? How does this make sense? (I apologize if you're being satirical).
@seeger66 it's funny the last 3 years have been colder than the 10 years before that. The planet goes through cycles the second ice age, 50 year droughts, 12 day rain storms all before modern man. The problem with you GW clowns you don't bother to learn history or the facts your just blinded by the dimming liberal light in a vain attempt to be cool or get laid. The ship has sailed the uss global warming is on her final voyage
No, you're the clown. Climate is measured in decades and ever since the industrial revolution where we humans started to live off of fossil fuels, the Earth has gotten warmer. The ocean, is where most of this warming has taken place. That is why most coral reefs around the world are being destroyed by what is known as 'bleaching' Maybe if you read a little bit you would understand why you are wrong.
@seeqer66 how do you debunk email sent between people. Your just a global warming tool. The guy that makes these video is just another global warming tool. If the science is settled why will no one debate it and why did al gore go into hiding after those emails came out. WATCH OUT THE SKY IS FALLING WHERE ALL GONNA DIE ONLY IF WE HAD LISTENED TO AL GORE
ITS ALL A PLAY FOR MONEY BOTTOM LINE YOU MORONS THAT BELIVE IT FEED INTO THE SYSTEM OF CONTROL
Wouldn't it be nice if the GW deniers were right? I'd love to put all this behind me and focus on something important. Ah well, facts are facts and conspiracy theorists will always ignore or twist them around.
@seeqer66 yes i agree the science is settled and the hoax exposed the only thing real about all this is greed and control topped off with a nice fat carbon tax
It's time to get these Oil Company Profit Based Denial Experts out of our Lives and get our only planet in the universe back on track before its to late if it's not already.
Tell the Government to Start Telling the Truth and Stop this Insanity before we go the way of the Dinosaurs for the profit of the Few.
@greenman3610 Hey I've seen in several of your videos, you use footage of El Nino and La Nina that are excellent (7:31, 7:38)!
I'm an Education student in college, and I help coach a High School marine science bowl team once a week. I was wondering where I could find access to those videos, because their PERFECT visuals for teaching Southern Oscillation.
If you could let me know that'd be great! Thanks alot!
Proven liars continue lying. That includes Rush Limbaugh, James Inhofe, and the rest of that crew. As a wise man once said, they have their reward (consequences). For the rest of us who think straight, we should stay the course until caring for people and planet is the top consideration.
If anyone from 1960 was brought to this time, regardless of what they might believe now, they would all of them think that global warming is true. the frog in boiling water all over again. I will get to the point when the north pole is gone and they say something like "It always goes away for a small period of time, just relax its all fine"
I presume you mean the CRU emails. They do not support your bogus claims. They were cherry-picked and quote-moned by liars with a vested interest, that is to undermine the science. These emails have been investigated repeatedly, you are WRONG!
@Uncle5cary Global average. It's summer here in up where you probably live but it's winter in the southern hemisphere. That's equator to poll, north and south. 16c / 61f is above average. (in fact, it's a record). :-)
@greenman: Did I hear you refer to Stephen Schneider as "the late Stephen Schneider? I'm so sorry if he passed. His lecture in this clip was fascinating and very informative. I know he talked about his illness and how he used probability modeling to come up with the best treatment protocols. He even wrote a book called "The Patient From Hell", where he discussed his methology with his oncologists. I want to get his latest book, Science As a Contact Sport, where he discusses the good fight.
The IPCC claim is that temperature has increased by 0.6 c, a 0.2 % increase. That is a slow pace of change, setting aside the fact that the error in the estimate is at least 10 times more.
Wow that woman is bare a s s nekid at 2:07. If I may, temperature recording didn't start until after WW2. 5 million years ago, northern Canada had a mild climate as proven by fossils of animals. The archeologists haven't found any coal plants associatied with the strata of 5 million years ago.
The obvious fact this poster has missed is that the evidence, recently uncovered in Canada, reinforces yet another time, that when CO2 is higher, even only a little bit higher than today, it produces a very different planet than the one life is currently adapted to.
if occur over 100,000 or one million years, as was usual in the past, we would adapt. But we are doing the change in a few hundred, and the record shows that that pace of change usually means a massive extinction.
Bottom line. You have ridiculous and vengeful right wing, "it's cooling" idiots. You have the ridiculous we are the world, "it's warming" idiots. How about "we don't know a fucking thing" reality based honest idiot?
NOAA, July 15, 2010: June & Year-to-Date Global Temperatures were WARMEST on record
* The combined global land and ocean average surface temperature for June 2010 was the warmest on record at 61.1°F (16.2°C), which is 1.22°F (0.68°C) above the 20th century average of 59.9°F (15.5°C).
* The global June land surface temperature was 1.93°F (1.07°C) above the 20th century average of 55.9 °F (13.3°C) — the warmest on record.
The cap n' trade tax is a scam that will destroy much of the economy
and it's based on the man-made climate change hoax.
31,000 Scientists say it's a hoax. The founder of the Weather channel says it's a hoax.
Science itself proves it's a hoax.
Don't believe the owners of carbon credits who want to keep the money they have invested in it or a government that will control your everymove because EVERYTHING MAKES CARBON.
I often wonder what the backlash against deniers is going to look like as the effects of climate change become more obvious. I am paying more for my insurance because I live in a flood zone. Wheat prices are rocketing because extreme weather has destroyed crops world-wide. Look at what has happened in France, Poland, China, Brazil, Tenerife, Tennessee, Arkansas and now Pakistan in the last 12 months alone. Will a backlash involve litigation for ignoring the recommendations of scientists?
Don't you imbeciles get tired of pasting this same information every time. That list of scientists ranged from high school teachers to engineers, but hardly any climatologists. Everything makes carbon NATURALLY, we've altered the natural amount of carbon. That isn't hard to understand . It's humorous to think that we can have so many fossil fuel dependent systems and not believe there is an effect.
"[The planet Pluto, which is warming up despite moving away from the sun], is a reminder that no matter where you are climate happens... There will be inevitably and likely imminent claims [by environmentalists] that mankind is also causing Plutonian global warming."
@co2isgoodal The typical maximum "summer" temperature where I live occurs in mid-August, about 2 months after the summer solstice. The composition of a planet determines its thermal inertia; that is, how rapidly it can respond to changing forcing.

Why do we have to argue about it? Working on fixing the problem can cause a boom economy. New energy means new products for all the energy companies. I don;t get why the corporations aren't all over global warming. They should love it.
i remember the ian stewart programme, he said the satelites in question were slowing down due to atomosphere resistance and so were getting closer to earth very gradually and all their readingsover a decade or more were wrong. when corrected they showed a warming trend. just correct me if im wrong but if CFCs could effect the ozone layers why couldnt climate change be man made, it seems obvious to me we are at fault
Isnt more CO2 better for plants? Prehaps you should do a video on that...I believe in global warming, but it makes sence to me that there would be an increased plan population.
@sulthus Most likely, after enough time for evolution to adapt species to a higher CO2 world, there would be more biomass. The trouble is, if you change the environment faster than species evolve, it tends to lead to a "short-term" reduction in biodiversity. Modern plants have evolved to "like" about 300 ppm CO2. Fauna that eat the flora have evolved to the modern flora.
@sulthus not if we keep deforestation up. That in return causes more carbon emission and less absorption. That said, there are a lot of plant species spreading like crazy due to warming, such as poison ivy spreading more than ever.
In Russia this summer, soil moisture is at a 500 year low, moscow is at 104 degrees F, millions of acres of wheat have been lost, and exports have been stopped on an emergency basis.
@sulthus All the plants on the Earth are adapted for the specific CO2 levels in which they evolved, which fluctuates natural from about 240ppm-290ppm, based on volcanic activity. Our activity has been every low for several decades now, so CO2 levels should be on the lower end of the range right now.
When our scientists test food crops in a greenhouses co2 levels on 260 in and and 384ppm in the other, the plants in the 384ppm greenhouse grow larger and faster, but contain reduced nutrition.= (
@sulthus : Greenhouses use pure CO2... the way we produce CO2 is with fossil fuels and this combustion is "dirty" enough (SOx, NOx, PCM pollutants) that it harms plants more than it benefits them.
On top of that:
- CO2 leads to ocean acidification which is really negative to most form of marine life
- the atmospheric warming from CO2 leads to extreme weather which you can imagine are hugely negative to plants, especially crops we need to survive!
We had a 107 degree index last week in my state. Record highs the whole month. The grass was burning my bare feet. We had the same thing happen in 2007. People shouldn't have to disect science to see what's happening. It's obvious. About every 3 to 4 years our Junes-Augusts get hotter. It's common sense.
Master your sound better. Unless your computer has a MONO speaker, your voice is only in the left speaker, and if you use headphones, that effect becomes incredibly unbearable to listen to.
I find the daily satellite data for July very interesting. The satellite data measured on channel 5 is considered the most reliable of the lower troposphere measurements, and sometime in July each year, the global average temperature from channel 5 hits its annual high for the year. But this year the channel has hit an all-time high: and not just once, but as of July 28, nineteen days have exceeded the highest temperature ever recorded on channel 5.
The last fourteen days average almost a tenth of degree hotter than the highest temperature previously recorded. The chances of getting 19 record highs in a single July in a random system are extraordinarily low; less than one chance in a thousand trillion, times one chance in a thousand trillion (less than 1 in 10^31 attempts would result in 19 record highs in 31 attempts, when the 930 days over 30 previous Julys failed to produce an equally high result. The troposphere is at an all-time high.
Inhofe, Lord Monckton, Limbaugh, Avery and Beck are perfect examples of Orwellian Double-Speak. Most of us in the South Pacific see evidence of warming more and more. How can these Oil Company mouthpieces sleep at night? Why have we let environmental vandals like BP, Shell, Chevron, et. al. get away with killing our planet? You'd have to be a moron to believe Corporate interests rather than science. It's like believing the world is flat.
Peter, if volcanic ash can help cool, shouldn't we advocate artificial aerosol distribution (which conspiracy theorists call "chem trails") as a means to cool the earth?
There is massive proof that globally, land-based glaciers have been melting for over 100 years and the trend is accelerating. Glaciers I walked on in the Sierra Nevada mountains and in Alaska in the 80's are GONE. This is true all over the world and there is ample photographic evidence to back it up.
From what I understand about the topic of global is that it doesn't really matter what the average global temp is, The problem is that places on earth that should be really cold are not. Glaciers are melting, were losing more and more of our ice caps. To me the biggest problem for future generations is going to be rising ocean levels. If ocean water levels were to rise only a couple of feat there are many parts of the world that would shrink drastically, like half of florida.
I have yet to meet a climate change denier (the type who thinks it's just a hoax to get more tax money) who is both scientifically literate and intellectually honest.
Of course it isn't. What I was referring to was partisanship getting in the way of finding out the truth scientifically. Is global warming really happening at a steady rate? Is it caused by human activity? Or is it a natural change? Or both? What can we do about it? Instead of intellectual honesty among the majority, all I see is division at a time when humanity can ill afford it.
The climate scientists are. Thanks to the internet you can bypass any kind of bias from journalists and get the information from the websites of the actual scientific organizations.
Here are some good places to start.
NASA
NOAA
Met Office
National Academy of Sciences
scientific journals like Nature, Science, Climatic Change, PNAS
a blog held by climate scientists called RealClimate...
Knowing what these people say, I can highly recommend the Climate Crock series as an introduction.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is crock. I love how you ONLY show data graphs from the last 100 years, but fail to show ANY long term proxy records over the last 900,000 years which clearly show this trend to be not special in the longer term. A rise of even 3 degrees C over a 100 year period is nothing, as proxy records show clearly that massive (over 10 degrees C) changes have occured within a matter of only a few years in the past.
@FurNation Clown. If you bothered to educate yourself you'd know that data beyond the last 150 years is speculative at best. MAN! There are too many friggen knuckle heads around. It's clowns like you that in 30 years time when the Earth is drastically changed due to man made causes will sit there and try to jump the bandwagon. 3 degrees over 100 years... Jesus... you seriously have not bothered to do any kind of research on the topic have you? That is a rhetorical question by the way.
@FurNation That's an indication of climate sensitivity GREATER than accounted for in current models you moron. The geological evidence of rapid climate changes shows that small inputs can trigger feedbacks with rapid effects. That should indicate that we should be more cautious about putting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Damn it! I'm wearing headphones, and most of the soudn for most of the video is going into my right ear, but whenever you start speaking it suddenly switches to the left, convincing me for a heartbeat that there's someone standing at my sholder talking about climate change, and it makes me jump every time :P
even if the "urbanization" denialists were true... if in fact more people are moving to cities, and cities are growing, and it is warmer in cities, that would still mean we are warming the planet right?
The direct heat we produce, however much it seems, is negligible. It escapes into space quickly. The energy the earth receives from the sun on a daily basis is millions of times greater than what we generate and how much of it is trapped by greenhouse gases such as CO2 is what makes the difference between having a freezing planet like Mars or a superheated one like Venus.
Greenman3610 has a good video on the Urban Heat Island effect:
For those of you who think that 16.2 and 14.2 degrees are pretty cold, it's a global average, so that includes the southern hemisphere, where it's winter in june.
Excellent explanation of the warming trend. Funny how after all the noise about the cold winter we had in some parts of the northern hemisphere, there has been virtual silence about the subsequent months.
Though I did slightly cringe when that guy talked about "the warmest spring planet earth has ever recorded"- the earth doesn't have a spring! Only the northern and southern hemispheres (or perhaps the temperate zones) do...
I actually cringed on the 'ever', as in billions of years. But maybe the 'earth recorded' should be interpreted as 'humans measured with thermometers'...
I also seem to remember something from Dr Ian Stewart's series on GW about the satellite data being misinterpreted because scientists had not taken into account the change in orbital distance since the initial launch of the satellite. Or something like that. Once this satellite data was corrected then the upward trend was apparent.
You are correct. I decided not to get into the details.
Spencer and Christy had not taken "orbital decay" into account, which gradually was shifting the readings. That, and some physical icing properties affecting weather balloons.
Heatwave, hell! Here in Oregon we had more rain in June than we have in many many years. Of course that doesn't mean anything at all for global trends, it was just a miserable year in this particular spot.
all this "debate" about global warming is nothing but a DISTRACTION about the real issue at hand. whats causing global warming? our consumption of fossil fuels and destruction of the worlds forests. but as long as the fuax debate continues we will keep on being distracted.
ive been asking for years, what do we have to loose by getting off fossil fuels? by developing renewable energy source
if you know your house has a leaky roof do you debate when to fix it until the roof falls in?
hmmm, weren't the deniers just recently using all of the snow storms and everything during the winter (or the winter before). Isn't pointing out how this has been one of the warmest summers on record similar to what they were doing in attempting to debunk the other side?
This really only applies to the start of the video though
The difference is, heavy precipitation, of all kinds, including snow, is consistent with increased moisture caused by AGW. In fact, this past winter, globally, was rather warm. The know-nothing right wing media, instead of spreading understanding, insisted on spreading ignorance.
Indeed, I just want to make sure we stick to higher standards than them, and was sharing how I was initially perceiving the juxtapositions near the beginning of the video.
The climate denier's motives couldn't be more transparent: you don't hear from climate deniers in Africa or other poorer areas, only from rich, western nations. Who wanna keep their wealth and lifestyle!
@RadarKat73080 I've actually had a discussion with one from africa. And he seemed to put forth the argument that it's the west trying to stop them from developing further and that it won't be as bad.
So they are out there. They just seem to be not as vocal or numerous.

@greenman3610 Temperatures went down in the 60s and 70s, how does that work with all the industrialization that went on.
yukoncornileus4 6 months ago
@yukoncornileus4
the most likely explanation is that increased particulate matter from industrialization, a period of active volcanic eruptions, and natural cycles, combined to slow warming down. 50 years ago, CO2 was less of a driver than it is now, and even more likely to be lost in the chaos of variability.
when the clean air act went into effect in the US, damping particulate emissions, which block the sun, warming took off.
greenman3610 6 months ago
@greenman3610
Climatologist Wally Broeker described this in 1975, and predicted the end of the cooling trend, the year before warming took off.
you can google it by entering
Are we on the brink of a pronounced global warming?
and see what he wrote. Amazingly prescient in retrospect.
greenman3610 6 months ago
@greenman3610 CO 2 is not a significant driver of climate, the Earth has had in it recent past periods warmer with less CO 2 in the air, and periods of dramatic cold with as much as 16 times as much CO 2 as we have now. Sorry I know it is a religion, but it's just not true.
yukoncornileus4 6 months ago
This lie gets boring. When its hot its obvious global warming, when its dry, it is also global warming, when its cold it is also global warming, when it snows or rain it is global warming. OK alarmists, lets turn off all the coal power stations, lets also shut down all refineries and switch off all nuclear power stations and lets all go happily back to our caves - maybe it is not such a bad idea, seeing that the US can't pay back its debt.

Isnt more CO2 better for plants? Prehaps you should do a video on that...I believe in global warming, but it makes sence to me that there would be an increased plan population.
sulthus 1 year ago
@sulthus Actually scientists have done studies of plant growth with increased CO2.
There was some extra growth in some species. But these plants had less nutrients and were not as healthy. & the growth didn't go that far.
Plus there are other factors that would increased temp would cause that would hurt plants. For instance, insect populations would also increase.
In the long run plant life would suffer.
You're right, Grenman should do a video on that if he hasn't already.
booley 1 year ago
@sulthus Most likely, after enough time for evolution to adapt species to a higher CO2 world, there would be more biomass. The trouble is, if you change the environment faster than species evolve, it tends to lead to a "short-term" reduction in biodiversity. Modern plants have evolved to "like" about 300 ppm CO2. Fauna that eat the flora have evolved to the modern flora.

CO2 is not the only variable with plants.
You need, for one thing, water.
In Russia this summer, soil moisture is at a 500 year low, moscow is at 104 degrees F, millions of acres of wheat have been lost, and exports have been stopped on an emergency basis.
More Co2 is not helping.
greenman3610 1 year ago 5
@sulthus All the plants on the Earth are adapted for the specific CO2 levels in which they evolved, which fluctuates natural from about 240ppm-290ppm, based on volcanic activity. Our activity has been every low for several decades now, so CO2 levels should be on the lower end of the range right now.
When our scientists test food crops in a greenhouses co2 levels on 260 in and and 384ppm in the other, the plants in the 384ppm greenhouse grow larger and faster, but contain reduced nutrition.= (
MasterPCTech 1 year ago
@sulthus : Greenhouses use pure CO2... the way we produce CO2 is with fossil fuels and this combustion is "dirty" enough (SOx, NOx, PCM pollutants) that it harms plants more than it benefits them.
On top of that:
- CO2 leads to ocean acidification which is really negative to most form of marine life
- the atmospheric warming from CO2 leads to extreme weather which you can imagine are hugely negative to plants, especially crops we need to survive!

I find the daily satellite data for July very interesting. The satellite data measured on channel 5 is considered the most reliable of the lower troposphere measurements, and sometime in July each year, the global average temperature from channel 5 hits its annual high for the year. But this year the channel has hit an all-time high: and not just once, but as of July 28, nineteen days have exceeded the highest temperature ever recorded on channel 5.
zinfan94 1 year ago
The last fourteen days average almost a tenth of degree hotter than the highest temperature previously recorded. The chances of getting 19 record highs in a single July in a random system are extraordinarily low; less than one chance in a thousand trillion, times one chance in a thousand trillion (less than 1 in 10^31 attempts would result in 19 record highs in 31 attempts, when the 930 days over 30 previous Julys failed to produce an equally high result. The troposphere is at an all-time high.

Pangolinx1 1 year ago
From what I understand about the topic of global is that it doesn't really matter what the average global temp is, The problem is that places on earth that should be really cold are not. Glaciers are melting, were losing more and more of our ice caps. To me the biggest problem for future generations is going to be rising ocean levels. If ocean water levels were to rise only a couple of feat there are many parts of the world that would shrink drastically, like half of florida.

Inhofe thinks its cooling because his blood is so cold

Craigipedia 1 year ago
@Craigipedia

For those of you who think that 16.2 and 14.2 degrees are pretty cold, it's a global average, so that includes the southern hemisphere, where it's winter in june.
amandarandom89 1 year ago
Excellent explanation of the warming trend. Funny how after all the noise about the cold winter we had in some parts of the northern hemisphere, there has been virtual silence about the subsequent months.
Though I did slightly cringe when that guy talked about "the warmest spring planet earth has ever recorded"- the earth doesn't have a spring! Only the northern and southern hemispheres (or perhaps the temperate zones) do...
plevyman 1 year ago
@plevyman
I actually cringed on the 'ever', as in billions of years. But maybe the 'earth recorded' should be interpreted as 'humans measured with thermometers'...

Everytime I try to watch this it stops at 0:09. I just watched part 2 and had no problem.

I also seem to remember something from Dr Ian Stewart's series on GW about the satellite data being misinterpreted because scientists had not taken into account the change in orbital distance since the initial launch of the satellite. Or something like that. Once this satellite data was corrected then the upward trend was apparent.
pilgrimpater 1 year ago 7
@pilgrimpater
You are correct. I decided not to get into the details.
Spencer and Christy had not taken "orbital decay" into account, which gradually was shifting the readings. That, and some physical icing properties affecting weather balloons.

@greenman3610 Ah yeah that was it. Ta for reminding me. You know what the memory in us old one's is like. Great channel by the way.

You have to wonder how bad it really has to get, before every one finally believes that this is happening.

LouisLeGros 1 year ago
@LouisLeGros
The difference is, heavy precipitation, of all kinds, including snow, is consistent with increased moisture caused by AGW. In fact, this past winter, globally, was rather warm. The know-nothing right wing media, instead of spreading understanding, insisted on spreading ignorance.

@greenman3610

RadarKat73080 1 year ago
@RadarKat73080 I would narrow it down further than that. Rich western nations on the right side of the political spectrum.
robhoneycutt 1 year ago
@RadarKat73080 I've actually had a discussion with one from africa. And he seemed to put forth the argument that it's the west trying to stop them from developing further and that it won't be as bad.
So they are out there. They just seem to be not as vocal or numerous.
