I'm going thru something similar: There's this guy, my friend who I have liked a lot for a while, who hugs me close, kisses me on the neck when he hugs me, plays in my hair, pinches my side, and literally smiles every time our eyes meet, and does a whole lot of other stuff. When I finally told him that I like him, he said he likes me very much as a friend. His actions say something different.........Ugh I hate being confused!

Man, you are picturing the subject perfectly...I had the same situation...my best friend was a girl. Cute and we had lots in common! I started to get these signals after we spent a weekend together in flat...I got totally crazy abt her. I waited and waited for various reasons...she went to Italy met an Italian...came back, I told her how I feel...we dated for a while like 2months just so she could leave me broken hearted for the Italian dude she was with for 3 days...if she only stayed away :/
