@Nvidia9700MGT Each Space Shuttle has a toilet that can be used by both men and women. Designed to be as much as possible like those on Earth, the units use flowing air instead of water to move waste through the system. Solid wastes are compressed and stored on-board, and then removed after landing. Waste water is vented to space, although future systems may recycle it and turn it into drinkable water. The air is filtered to remove odor and bacteria and then returned to the cabin.
10 minutes to hydrate, 20 minutes to warm... FUCK THAT lol i'll drink Tang and eat cold tuna in space. I'd rather spend those 20 minutes spinning in zero-g or playing with water or some shit.
@rab236 It's because of the limited visibility in the duct ahead, the sign is a (fun) way to tell the astronauts to slow down, so they don't hit each other coming around the corner.
When you got the to food warming suitcase, I started thinking "this must be what a pre-Industrial Age person would feel like if they were transported to the present time, and found out that we now eat by taking 'food' out of a cold cabinet and sticking it in a loud humming metal box"
they must give you guys more then just fox news. i mean thats what i'm getting from the audio, but never mind. i would love to join you guys and have that view of the world. have a good one
If the dried peaches are like the ones in the MRE's then eat them without hydrating them. Really tasty as your saliva hydrates them and they are crunchy. Just remembering from my days as a soldier in the Army.
all the crew are very nice people. I like very much Paolo Nespoli off course because i am Italiano but the others too are very good people, scott kelly the commander is very interesting when talks.
I would want to like bring some Ozarkas instead of drink water from my body :/ But I guess if it's clean it's fine...just not sure I could do it. I'm a wimp :P Although it's probably worth it to be in space!
lol at the asparagus XD
Is it like impossible to stain your clothes with food in space???
OH MY GOSH I WANT TO EAT M&MS IN SPACE!!! :D
Man living on the ISS looks like all kinds of awesome.
Question, do you all eat in diffrent places, the russians in Zvesta and the US in the labb or do you all meet at the same time and have a dinner like setup?
@dshaffer1200 It's probably not in 720P because (I'll bet) he edited and posted the video to YouTube himself through the ship's Internet connection. Those guys don't waste anything. Not even bandwidth.
I really enjoyed that very much. Thank you! I have always wondered about that and it is amazing. Good Job!
I wonder if the broadcast of the 'OBAMA' news segment was done on purpose?
I noticed that there were devices, oven and water dispenser on the walls, ceiling. I suppose it wouldn't matter where anything was as 'relatively speaking' it doesn't matter where up is. Do you have a sense of up / down, or being up side down?
Next year I'm askin' Santa for a "suitcase" 'cause I've been burning the crap out of food for 20 years tryin' to use an oven. I wonder if they come with an astronaut?
Got a question about laundry. If you take smelly socks and underwear, put them in a mesh laundry bag, and leave them in the vacuum of space for a few hours, will the smelly chemicals and bacteria evaporate or float away from the clothing?
@ReelNASA If an Astronaut or Kosmonaut has his/her birthday at the station......is then Alcohol send up with shuttle/progress or it is strictly prohibited'?
i love these videos aswell... keep them coming! If they have time they should bring up some psychedelic mushrooms or the like to have some fun. yeah, I know they aint up there for fun. but that would really be a neat experiment. hehe... and wow, they do have quite a nice menu. almost better than mine at the moment.
I ate one of those MRE meals once, and boy was that a challenge. Only the bread was edible. When the ISS inhabitants return to Earth I'm sure the first thing they'll do is go hit up a Golden Corral or something :)
Another great video. These are aspects of life up there that we don't commonly hear about, and feeding oneself is more involved than we would think. Funny about the asparagus just floating away. How often does our food escape and disappear down here? And then, too, we don't have the game of turning our dessert loose in the air and chasing it.
Thanks to Commander Kelly and the crew for sharing some of the adventure with us!
This guy is in space for 6 months, isolated, I think making these videos is a great way to interact with the "outside world", here is in fact the world.
