  • Ok and dont rip me off lol. And as far as the speedo? Will it mark correct or be off if i use a usdm tranny? By the way are you goin to the skidpad tonight?

  • @mav3rik5 i wont rip you off. lol but if its messed up ill charge like $50 more. and yea ill go if the weather is good. i usually see the darg racing and sometimes drifting. not much into drifting though

  • @bohdanko90 and did you adjust/alter the timing in your car when you installed it? or did you just drop it in?

  • @mav3rik5 did nothing with the timing. left it the way it was

  • @bohdanko90 Because throughout my research i see that people tend to advance the timing, so idk if i should.

  • @mav3rik5 dont do it. you can easily blow the motor like that.

  • Good job! i saw your car running this past saturday at countyline, it was running good. you killed that civic in some runs and I was wondering why your car kept turning off

  • @mav3rik5 It was the throttle cable

  • @mav3rik5 Haha, Thanks! The throttle cable got lose and kept popping off

  • @bohdanko90 Oh not a biggie, how much boost are you running on? and what turbo?

  • @mav3rik5 its on like 18psi running a holset xh40

  • @bohdanko90 Nice! and you daily drive this car with no problems? by the way who did the work and tuning? and what system is it tuned on?

  • @mav3rik5 Drive this thing every single day, its running on Microtech. Hasnt given me any problems for the past 9 months or more. I did all the work myself except tires and exhaust, and my buddy, the one that owns the black rx7 in my other videos tuned my car.

  • @bohdanko90 wow amazing work! the car is sleeper as f**k!! its perfect the way it is, no cosmetics. and where did you buy your motor?I was thinking of jdm of miami, but i hear a lot of their engines have rod knock. and is the swap a pain in the ass?how long did it take you to complete it? sorry for asking too many questions =), just trying to learn as much as possible before i do my swap.

  • @mav3rik5 lol, thanks! and dont worry about asking questions. i like helping people out with some advice.

I got my motor from "osaka jdm motors". The reason why i didnt get mine from JDM of miami is because #1 they want way too much for their motors and 2 they didnt seem like they cared very much when i talked to them and until this day they still dont. Osaka JDM Motors is awesome, i got my motor on ebay from them and it was almost like $800 less than JDM of miami, plus i got free shipping.

  • @mav3rik5 Plus i got free shipping. The swap is some what a pain in the ass, mainly because of the stock ecu and wiring. But if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. If you have common knowledge with cars, you should be fine to do most of the work. I can do the wiring harness for you for cheap if you want. all these places want like $450 for it. I think thats just way too much

  • @bohdanko90 yeah thanks! thats what i was actually worried about, the wiring and the electrical part is my biggest concern. As far as removing the engine and swapping in the new one i can do, but the tuning and electrical is the problem. and what tranny are you using? and rear end?

  • @mav3rik5 Im using the stock transmission, and the J30 LSD rear end. What swap are you planning on getting? Then i can tell you if it bolts up or not.

  • @bohdanko90 Im thinking of a black top sr and stock tranny.

  • @mav3rik5 cool dude, its should bolt right up without any major mods. And you can run a lot of boost depending on who tunes your car. You can blow your motor at 10psi or 20psi, just depends how good your tuner is. Stock fan clutch is the way to go, you will also need a fan shroud, because with out a fan shroud the fan cant grab the air from outside and just circulates the hot air in the engine bay. fuel lines and vacuum lines are super easy to adopt, and a walbro 255lph fuel pump is recommended.

  • @bohdanko90 and does your setup have powersteering? ac? by the way what year engine you got?

  • @mav3rik5 I did have power steering, but my steering rack leaks pretty bad so i just took it out. and no ac. The engine is like a 98 i think

  • @bohdanko90 and did you have to relocate the battery to the trunk? how did you wire it?

  • @mav3rik5 the battery had to be relocated to the trunk because of the intercooler piping. Its just grounded in the trunk and i got some thick ass battery cable at advance auto (they sell it by the foot) and ran it to the front

  • @bohdanko90 and does the car have any suspension mods? have you tried to slide it?

  • @mav3rik5 the car has no suspension mods other than the camber kit. running tokico oem replacement shocks and eibach springs.

Im not that much into drifting, but the car goes sidaways every time i floor it on the street.

  • @bohdanko90 and when you bought the engine did it come with ecu, harness, fuse box, and all the goodies? because i've been looking into some engines, and most of them come with a tranny. So i don't know if i should buy them with a tranny or just use mine. what do you think?

  • @mav3rik5 Mine came with the ecu and all that stuff. If you are gonna keep it stock with the stock turbo then keep your transmission. if not then get the one with the transmission

  • @bohdanko90 and did you have to make a custom turbo manifold for the holset? or did you just buy an aftermarket one? and im gona use a gt28

  • @mav3rik5 i bought the ebay one and modified it because it would hit the valve cover

  • @bohdanko90 and hows the ride quality with those shocks? is it stiff? and what other mods have you done to the car

  • @bohdanko90 one more thing, when i get the engine will it be necessary to tear it apart and clean it up and replace gaskets? or will it be fine the way the come? in other words should i trust the way they are internally and just work with them as they are or actually open it up and do some cleaning? what do you think? what did you do? thnx

  • @mav3rik5 to tell you the truth, i never opened up my engine at all. people say replace this, replace that (timing belt, water pump, gaskets.) I never did any of that. but that depends on the motor you get. I know osaka has great quality motors with low miles. You have to look at the engine you get and decide if you want to replace the gaskets and stuff. Mine was in great condition and i never even messed with any of that stuff.

  • @bohdanko90 and would it be better to get a front clip or just the engine itself? thnx

  • @mav3rik5 the engine by itself is better imo.

  • @mav3rik5 just go on their website. they might not have it listed on ebay

  • @bohdanko90 oh yeah i got it thanks. and by the way if you were to do my wiring what would you need just the ka and sr harness? and you can cover the rest?

  • @mav3rik5 you will need the KA harness the 240sx body harness and the sr harness.

  • @bohdanko90 oh ok and in the end it will just be plug and play right?

  • @mav3rik5 Thats right

  • @mav3rik5 Also depends on the conditions of your harness. if its damaged it will cost more

  • @bohdanko90 ok and how long would it take you to do it? because i want to have it ready so I can fire it up as soon as im done with it.

  • @mav3rik5 a few days, 5 at most. because im really busy these days

  • @bohdanko90 I think ill look into osaka motors and work out a price with them, i have a coupe btw. I daily drive it for now but by the end of the year i will be building it. did you have to do any mods as far as the swap? or does the engine just bolt on? and when you got your engine did you open it and give it a clean up? because i hear that since most of these engines just sit, gunk and carbon starts to accumulate over time.

  • @bohdanko90 one more thing lol, i assume you have stock internals. but is it safe to run it at 18 psi? because i hear anything after 14-15psi and the engine will go bye bye. and is it more efficient to use the stock fan clutch or have electricals? and is it hard to adapt the fuel lines and vacuum lines to the engine once you've completed the swap? thanks!
