Also, if you watch videos like the infamous "Single Ladies" jazz group (with seven-year-olds dressed and moving like little strippers), you'll see that dance competition can be such a scary place for a parent. People are very quick to defend young dancers who's moves and costumes are too racy by pointing out the amazing technique. This girl is proof that you can have mature technique but still ultimately dance with the innocence and purity of a child.

Sometimes little kids who's technique is this amazing have this really strange quality, like they're just robots repeating what older kids do.

Her technique is REAL, her maturity and her soul is so beyond that of an eight-year-old. I was both impressed and touched by this. Also, to those who say she should be more covered up, this is a perfectly suitable lyrical costume.

well yes, the choreography was lyrical not "ballet". You're right about that. I just don't like Amazing Grace as a dance piece. I didn't realize it was used for dance so often, but after searching youtube, I can see that it's used all the time.

actually think this is considered modern. I thought the same thing so i asked brian how it was possible that she could do 2 lyrical pieces in one year (amazing grace and fly) and he said that amazing grace was considered modern or contemperary. i believe he said that fly was the lyrical but i could have it backwards.

Brianna dances 2-3 hours a day during the school week and depending on the schedule multiple hours on the weekend. She loves modern, lyrical and jazz but loves to try new styles, she is having a blast this year with hip hop. Thanks for the great comments!!

WOW. Honestly, there are no words to describe the talent in this little girl. If I told my friends how extremely wonderful she is, they simply would not believe me without watching. That's just for anyone - but her being eight absolutely blows my mind. I'm sure she makes you very proud as her father, because I'm proud of her just as a fellow dancer.

P.S.

In re-watching the video, I only found two places that I have advice for: Please remind her to point her right toe on the front cabriole at 2:23, and again to point her right toe on the right sit roll at 2:36. If possible can you ask her to give me some tips on my arial? I can do it, but I am often low to the ground. Can she help me with some tips on how to get over faster and be higher off the ground? Thank you!
