  • He looks like a mix between my boss and my girlfriends dad.

  • I had a lot of fun making this movie RealBabesGhost@twitter.com

  • Play*

  • I wish I could have seen him played...

  • Excellent voice, excellent actor, excellent charisma, OUT OF THIS WORLD ball player; thanks for wrcoe for this uploading.....red sox fan here saying that I like the Bambino, even if he had put the "so-called-curse" over my team.

  • Greatest Yankee ever

  • babe Ruth in the movies i didn't know ,yet i think i saw this movie

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam he waas faaaaaat but awesome dude

  • This year is "Officer Joe"Bolton's 100th birthday this coming September 8,2010.

  • Mr.Ruth doesn't really sing here..he's simply saying umpire

    calls to the music.

  • Ruth was not a bad actor.

He was so unathletic - looking. I don't know how he did what he did.

  • Interestingly, The Babe's description of his called shot is exactly what the recently uncovered film of the 32 Series shows, including using the left hand at waist level pointing out his shot.

  • @deepcosmiclove No, not really. A lot of people say that it coincides with the story that he was pointing at the Cubs dugout.

Charlie Root (the pitcher) met Ruth a few years later and said "you know, you didn't call that shot". The Babe said "I know, but this makes a better story". Root said "if you did, I would have thrown it right down your throat."

    It never happened!

  • @detoth67 Ruth had the story partially right though. He pointed at the dugout and his home run was geniunely dramatic.

  • @detoth67 Yeah, he called the shot alright, and where did you go to school? You seem dumb.

  • It makes you wish we had better technology when the Babe was around like we do today, so every game, show, movie or song he did was recorded beautifully the way it should have been

  • Babe Ruth ruled. It didn't matter if the called shot was true or not, it was just plain fun to listen to this!

  • The Babe was a natural on camera! And THAT'S where that audio track of him telling the story of the '32 Called Shot came from-AND the studio footage of him on the mike. Very good piece of history here. Good for TCM and good for WRCoe.

  • ruth was a good actor

  • @catpedia I was just thinking the same thing. He's so natural, he should have looked into making it in the movies after he retired from the ball game. I was expecting some cheesy horrible robot acting but he's really gifted I can't believe it. Makes me love The Babe even more.

  • it was a pip

  • This is fucking ridiculous

  • You are Slappy.

  • slappy? lol

  • how did yo u get this vid?

  • absolutely sick... babe ruth and zez confrey on the keys!!!! nice to actually see a video of him playing piano =)

  • In order his best 4 years were: 1921, 1920, 1923 and 1927

  • So light-hearted so kind Big sweet man

  • haha i love how legendary the "called shot" is he talks about at 2:25...

according to Floyd Herman, this was an exchange made between Charley Root and Babe Ruth on the set of the movie "The Pride Of The Yankees" in 1942...

Root: "You never pointed out to center field before you hit that ball off me, did you?"

Ruth: "I know I didn't, but it made a hell of a story, didn't it?"

  • is taht really him???????? if it is wow!!!

  • wow i never knew babe had a great voice. and he was an educated man. the media always made him out to be a brut.great post.

  • Babe Rush reminds me of comedian Jonathan Winters

  • u know the only thing i didnt like about the movie babe was it didnt mention the movies he was in but he was an amazing ball player

  • He dances really funny in this haha. He just sorta bounces and sways it just looks way funny haha!

  • There was a sister from my church who reminded me of Babe Ruth in drag.

  • I didn't imagine his voice to sound like that....dosen't look like he sounds at all.

  • I know, huh. Thats exactly what I thought when I first heard him!

  • Dear WRCoe, Joe Bolton began his broadcasting career

as a musical entertainer in NYC. He performed with another fellow as part of

"The Two Man Band"..until newsman Conrad Van

Vorhis suggested that he become an announcer. And he did.

  • The radio announcer in the tux with the big snile

    introducing The DeMarco Sisters is..?

    NYC Kids tv host/performer:"Officer Joe"Bolton..

    Believe It Or Else?!

  • Zez Confrey and Byron Gay were in the picture. David Mendoza conducted the music. Joe Bolton had many jobs in broadcasting including some early work in moving pictures. Kids remember Officer Joe very well if you grew up in New York or Phiadelphia.

  • Is that the great Officer Joe Bolton? Why is this piece of film not in his imdb credits? This whole film is awesome history!

  • Babe Ruth as Davey Crockett?!? LOL

  • Say, what's the big idea?!

  • what a dancer ...

  • F'Up song!!!

  • The Sultan of Swat is a decent actor!

  • hes chubby :)
