  • i fuckin love evanescence

  • Evanescence sucks.

    Big Time.

  • i should've took shop lol.

  • @Qaphsiel1 Us humans could us it to propel us in space (if we master the technology)

  • @DreamState01 i agree

  • i like new ideas, but all this will ever be use for is kill each other.

  • another example of the power of magnets and electricity

  • Stop talking about the music dipshits

  • the music fuc#ing sucks. WHY?!

  • my blood pressure suddenly got higher after this video, i winder why...

    *cough*ass music*cough*.

  • gay music

  • This guy doesn't have a clue as to how to properly assemble things. Hint: "Exploded view".

  • @carrionpvp survey says, BANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNT.

  • *tries to put nut on bolt by fitting it over the head.

    YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

  • and how do you know this....

  • god it is crazy how far ahed usa is in tech than the rest of the world

  • Comment removed

  • why would they shoot INTO space and not FROM space?

  • @ashtreylil1 Good point

  • Please for the love of god stop using this song for any more youtube videos. It's driving me insane.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome gun... the song sucks... and this rail gun is the shit

  • Railguns...are...so...bad...ass! I cant wait to see what the US does with this stuff and what final products will actually be like. so god damn interesting!

  • The problem the Military ran into was not the power to shoot an object into space. It was the object it self. They had to construct the frontal core out of carbon\carbon so it would not just burn up from the friction at Mach 10 speed.

  • this does not look like the gun in Transformers 2....

  • Higher VOltage a the Capacitor Bank would be nice...

  • Ah... Much better muted.

  • Cool solenoid ...

  • So the vent tank just sits there not hooked to anything? O.o

  • Why everyone on Youtube love Evanescence's Bring Me To Life?

  • @sjors00666 Yes. They can shoot the projectile out at speeds exceeding Mach 7. Gunpowder can't even come close to that.

  • Every other video this song plays...

  • Comment removed

  • Guys... It's not 2003 anymore... Do you really have to use this song?

  • Thumbs up if you hate this music

  • @MrPaulo1471 thumbs up if you hear withintemptation

  • @MrPaulo1471

The music I hear is "bring me to life" by evanescence which is a pretty kickass song.

  • @GODOFWAR1013 I agree

  • @MrPaulo1471 I wish I could give more thumbs up.

  • @sjors00666 Well, one that is under developement right now is extremely accurate, nearing pinpoint accuracy, is able to shoot accurately up to 4 miles so far, but they are trying to make it's range 200 miles, and it can blast through a 1/2" steel plate without even so much as denting the round, making it less accurate, causing it to sway to slow down or any negative effects.

It's a monster, but you be the judge.

  • LOL, i got here watching only my railgun music video by fripside xD

  • 'how to make the 400v charging circuit / module'

  • watch ' how to make a 400v charging circuit ' to learn how to make a circuit from scratch capable of charging photo flash capacitors, you need little electronics knowledge and you only need four components and a 1.5v battery.

  • What was used to create this animation?

  • @TheAgentkyle the ammo is very low tech mostly just solid steel or another metal that can be a

ffected strongly by a magnetic field.

  • @Jonl3wis The projectile doesn't need to be affected by a magnetic field. You are thinking of a coil gun which relies on the magnetic properties of the projectile. A rail gun relies on the magnetic fields produced by the current running down the rails and the current running through the projectile. The most important property is the conductivity.

  • people want a hand held version?? does no one know newtons laws of physics? even as a hand held model that thing would rip you in half if u used it. Remember for every force their is an equale and oppisite force.

  • @Jonl3wis ya....but what one could fit into a hand held version wouldnt be any more powerful than a regular gun. the bigger risk would be some sort of short, sending 100s of amps into the user. thats instant death.

  • @Jonl3wis well, yes and no. a) you could tone down the energy levels some, and b) a lighter projectile launched faster has less recoil for the same amount of force. something to think about.

  • @pinhead61187 first off the the energy levels have to maintain the same to allow the extreme magnetic field on the object to propell it at a resonable speed. Also if u reduce the mass but increase the speed will give u more energy and therefore more kick back. don't forget Ek=1/2m v^2

  • @Jonl3wis yeah, you're right. I'm just thinking out loud. to tell you the truth, i really sucked at math. i just try to absorb whatever knowledge i can find by reading, then go back to my crappy job renting party equipment at Taylor Rental. life didn't quite work out how i thought it would...

  • @Jonl3wis its reaction but force is close enough

  • one question, where did you buy those capacitors? or where can you buy? and what are the costs of these?

  • Oh cool. Let's just disclose how to do shit to the enemy.

  • Great for shooting meteors out of space. It's better than sending Ben Affleck into space....hey wait a minute....stop testing, abort!

  • *fucking my bad you should consider just dieing in that hole you dig

  • The "nerds" just fuck won lol

  • shit music

  • ijo puta pero k puta mierda¡¡¡

  • @Fallout3Sniper listen so far there is no such thing as fusion reactors there are but they consume more energy then you get out of it

  • bgm unrelated

  • A real military rail gun yusis i smal nucklyur reactor and can only fire 1 schot evry 30 sec els the barol gets to hot

  • Now make a powerful hand held rail gun.

  • music sucks fucking cock and doesnt go with the fucking video!!!

  • A real military rail gun uses enough electricity in each shot to power a small city for a few days ( that's a lot more than 12 thousand joules ) and the design is classified. Eventually they will have rail guns that can fire an artillery shell from the US, into space, and precisely hit a target. That'd have to be a lot bigger than even the ones they are planning to put on ships.

  • @Mjrpwnage7 lol, wikipedia kind of info =x

  • @Mjrpwnage7 this was not an attempt to make a homemad rail gun like the military one... =x

this was people building up things like hobby...

    what you can build?

  • @Mjrpwnage7 mhmm...

  • @Mjrpwnage7 star wars isnt that far away bro... xD

  • @Mjrpwnage7 Like the MAC from halo. :D

  • @Mjrpwnage7 Well, TBH that may or may not be true. Assuming the 30megajoule is input power and not output power (or there are no losses), it's actually only about 9kWH (which is how much my PC uses in 9 hours).

  • @Mjrpwnage7

it would have to be pretty fast though, right? i mean to hit something in space.

would this have an application in firing objects other than ... well, weapons into space?

  • @Mjrpwnage7 Actually.... they already do.... Iv seen (and felt 0.o) it fire.... it can fire a slug of depleted uranium the size of a Prius from the ground in florida all the way up into "space" not actually IN space but close enough that the gravity is so little that it flies the rest of the way into space by sheer speed anyways... so technicly.... a well timed shot could put something... on the moon for say.... but anything that can dodge (an alien or something) could easily just move away...

  • @Mjrpwnage7 This is not true. How many joules do you think are being consumed here? An average house uses about 1500KWh per month. That equals 50KWh per day or 50,000*24*3600 = 43.2 gigajoules. In reality the rail guns the navy is using are around 50 mega joules which is far less than one house uses in a day.

  • @Mjrpwnage7 Martians are doomed.

  • @Mjrpwnage7 i know the total joules of the gun at full charge, its close to 5.000.000 and its about 3 to 6 inches un diameter aluminum alloy projectile......why that alloy i dont know and "dont ask".............

  • @Mjrpwnage7

What? you were expecting him to make one of those things?

  • @Mjrpwnage7 seriously you should at least study the topic before you comment on it and as for what the military can currently do and do in the near future, well it would suprise just how far some things are. This coming from someone who has seen the military (navy) railgun fire in person.

  • @Mjrpwnage7 a little closer to 33 mega joules at the max....but i think theres one thing we can all agree on. those alien invaders are going to have a bad day when they come round

  • @Mjrpwnage7 With nuclear power they wont have no problem firing as many rounds they like

  • @Mjrpwnage7 you seem quite sure of urself.

  • @Mjrpwnage7 do you know how they power it... a 9 volt battery

  • I hope you know this isn't the actual rail gun. The real one is being buit in Area 51. I not shitting you thats a real place...

  • lol i once buily somthing like this. it was a bit to powerful. poor tree is missing half its trunk and somehow still stands.

  • Comment removed

  • Why can't we use this railgun on 007 Soundsystem?

  • @Bautonman LOL

  • ok now thats done...Flux capacitor.

  • It's like LEGOs!

  • eeeh railgun animation, this looks like, i dunno some parts just put together, I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THIS VIDEO!

  • from what i understand this video uses

    400v 3900uf capacitors 40x @ 12,480 Joules

    for probably over $4,200(mouser electronics)

    i found for mine

    400v 19000uf capacitors 16x @ 24,320 Joules

    for $3,800

i would have a lot lighter capacitor bank @ almost twice the power if i used 40 of them it would be @ 60,800 Joules

    but would cost about $10,000

  • @TheNinjutsu5 I did not exceed 100 dollars, mostly sponsorships.

  • @zanta24 ahh nice ...

i made plans to build one even started a 3d model for future use

total cost for my project will be a near $5,000

    sponsors would be nice lol

i also found out if you roll a piece of regular size copy paper from top to bottom without overlap and tape it, it is almost exactly the size of the capacitors described by the web site i found. the only difference in size is 2/16 an inch.

i made one just as a visualization for the size

  • @TheNinjutsu5

what are you claiming to be a stupid nerd?

  • @ilostmypassword and what are claiming to be someone who doesn't know shit? lol

You do know without the people you call "nerds" you wouldn't have a computer to look up your gay porn you mother fucking fagot.

  • @ilostmypassword oh i forgot you rather be an Amish than have all the technology around you created by "nerds" im pretty sure some retarded jocks didn't invent the computer you fucking human slave monkey.

  • @ilostmypassword so if you have anymore rude comments about me or a group of people that you call "nerds" than i would best suggest you unplug your computer, dig a hole in your yard and live there until you can invent something without half a brain.

do you want anymore insulting comments? or have i made my point?

  • @TheNinjutsu5 or 20 mjigawats

  • He has tested this gun with some rather spectacular results. Check out his web site...

  • You sir, are a badass. More blue capacitors = more joy, and this project has the most I've ever seen in one spot.

  • 0:22 lol! windows error!

  • @Tera2000Byte If your talking about the flickering, thats due to a very bad topology in the mesh.

  • @zanta24

You talk smart! I don't understand you!!! D:

  • what can you tell me about the magnetic augmentation? also what psi are you running your injector at? i was thinking of using around 2500 psi with an electronically controlled burst disk rated for 3000.

  • @mark357c oh never mind about your psi just read the full description.

  • Гауссовая пушка довольно не перспективное оружее, если конечно не найдут как КПД повысить

  • I guess we won't be seeing a real Portable Assault Rail Gun anytime soon

  • @sonicblade9 lol an arg

  • Yeah but it doesnt shoot.

  • what would happen if thet shoot chuck norris?

  • @darknaet the universe and everything else ends

  • @darknaet A roundhouse kick to the face.

  • ok can some one explain the purpose of a capacitor bank?? like why not use one capacitor, and in which way would you wire a capacitor bank

  • @ericdalgetty Cost

  • @zanta24 im asking like electrically whats the purpose of having 2 capacitors, not 1?

  • @ericdalgetty I imagine a series-parallel connection would increase capacitance & hold down the power-factor issues, as well as distribute a inject current quicker. The bleeder resistors add the safety factor to the mix. It doesn't take much time to charge a bank of capacitors enough to cause some damage. The bleeders keep static electricity & test equipment battery energy from applying a charge to the bank. I imagine the bleeders are taken out of the circuit when the actual "GUN" is charged.

  • song sucks, good video though

  • How fast can it shoot a projectile and how far? Also, how large should the projectile be?

  • Absolutely amazing-You obviously know what you are doing-unlike some on you tube. Great job on the animation-it looks great. Whats the song BTW?

  • Where are the projectiles fed into?

  • @coppicebrad There really is no easy way to feed in the projectile. Rightnow, i either

    1) Push it down the bore from the exit. This is bad as the projectile has to be fairly loose, so much more wasted energy.

    2) Take it apart and put the projectile in directly. This is better because i can get a tighter fit (the teflon has a slightly bigger bore), and the gun is open anyway to replace the rails.

  • @zanta24 A so wouldnt a spring loaded mechanism like a magazine work then?

  • Bleeder resistors will safely drain charge build up over time if any, or drain charge from an unfired shot.

  • bleeder resistors?

  • lol mybe you need to make one that plugs into walls instead of using like 30 "D" batteries. Unless you cant use AC.

  • @earthwrmjim this does plug into the wall. Those are capacitors(blue)

  • @zanta24 ohhhh...lol . that makes sense.

  • wich program did you use?

    and is downlaudeble for free?

  • please look at previous comments.

  • Comment removed

  • @zanta24 That's asinine of you. There are several pages of previous comments and we wouldn't even know specifically which words were used to ask the question and obviously we wouldn't know which words were used to answer it.

If it's a repeated question, why not include it in the description of the video? Or take the much shorter time required to directly answer his question instead of being a dick.

Btw, your rail gun fucking sucks. You obviously didn't design it with loading in mind.

  • @sharpnova2 lol, what are you talking about? Loading is obviously not a design consideration, and shouldn't. The thing would blow apart.

  • @zanta24 Wow. Wrong. Just goes to show you can be skilled enough to focus on one small area and pull it off, but still lack the intelligence to see the big picture.

And answer the kid's question about what software you used to make your video. Or put it in the description.

If not, you're obviously just a troll.

  • What purpose do the neod magnets serve at the end of the rails?

  • Magentic Augmentation, see my website

  • home made railgun? o_O

  • This is awesome-er.

  • Nice animation..What is the tool you used for animation?

  • Blender 3D, completley free and open source :)

  • What is the song name? Also I hope you have good life insurance, haha.

  • @wowcolors look further in the comments or the in-video ads (from audio swap) :)

  • wath is the injector used for?

  • nice vid, but I think the music broke my ears

  • @MacSick next time, turn off your speakers :)

  • @zanta24 haha yeah, i was playing space cowboy instead of fucking evanescence that doesnt even go with the video

  • song name?

  • dreamscape

  • Just wondering, whats do you expect the cold fire time and warm fire time to be?

  • What do you mean by cold fire time and warm fire time?

  • Time to full charge to discharge from

    ...unplugged (cold) ?

    ...previous fire (warm) ?

  • Its pretty awesome. I can't wait to see the finished product.

  • It would have to be alot and have legal reassurance...

  • would you sell it
