  • I know James Taylor created this song but the Isley Brother's cover will always be my favorite version of this song. Not being bias just being honest..

  • JT + EC= N (nice). Look for Isley Bros. cover on 3+3 album.

  • Thank-You Joyce and for always thinking of me…xo

  • It is just AWESOME! I get relaxed every time i listen to this tune.

  • @slunky08: Thank you for upoading this live !This is the very only Clapton's Live of that song.

  • Don't ever die my god !

  • I love a song that you can close your eyes and go to another world of bliss. Clapton does that for me. He removes me from this world...

  • Awesome voice for a guitarist !

  • It's been said many times before but it continues to be true. Musically speaking...CLAPTON IS GOD

  • Thanks for sharing this awesome song/video. The CD that this song is off of.. "Reptile" is packed full of gems.. I suggest picking it up. ;-)

  • I'd never let him be lonely. Not on any night

  • JAMES TAYLOR is the composer of this beautiful song. Not Eric Clapton or Isley Brothers

  • slow... love

  • I was lucky enough to have front row RAH seats for these shows...the man was just on fire and this was one of my favourites from the evening for sure! Great post.

  • Tearing that guitar up isn't he?

  • Great cover of a great cover of a great song. Clapton to Isleys to Taylor. Legends all.

  • @cyoteblues You could do this good huh? hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Yeah right....

  • @BucksOwin Don't know who you were talking too.....but NO ONE compares to E.C or J.T.....PERIOD! NO ARGUEMENT...............JUST A FACT! Benn a lover of these guys since the 60's, and have seen them both within the last 5 years in concert, and they JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER!

  • meh.

  • meh.

  • saw EC at the keyarena in seattle. Nothing will ever compare.

  • Thanks Mr. Clapton!

  • i love EC version but ya'll isley brother was the first

  • Remember it well - my 1st live EC concert!

Also attending the concerts on 9th and 10th

  • Mr. Clapton is awesome, but please keep in mind this is a James Taylor song, and for Mr. Clapton to perform it live is a high complement.

  • Incredible..I have lots of his stuff.. love this!!!!

  • i bumped into this song a year go, its a hidden treasure in youtube

  • this is AMAZING. Clapton puts his magic into an already good song. I know James Taylor is honored.

  • can't believe this video hasn't got more views. His version of this song is a true masterpiece !

  • like fine wine he gets better with age.

a lifetime of studying the blues has turned him into a true soul/blues singer.

unlike a couple of you souless demons who dislike this...

  • @kimo1371 He was born w/ the Blues

  • awesome!!

  • BEST VERSION!!!

  • una versión muy diferente pero pasable

  • This is a very different, and really, really terrific version of this song.

  • No use in arguing which version is better or best coz it's up to each personal's taste.

We can only say we LIKE this or that version more, but they are all great in their

own way. For me, even Clapton is one of my great heroes, i prefer the Isley Brothers' version.

  • Sick version of the Isley's rendition of the song which has so much more funk, soul, and feeling than the JT version- which isn't bad either.

  • Folks,

I've followed EC for many years ( 1973 and on! ) and this solo is one of the greatest solos I've seen him do...pure flowing lead guitar, just blowing your mind.

  • he plays it alot like the isley brothers did it

  • Eric Clapton is a great artist and he sings this song wonderful way.

But I prefer the original version by James Taylor!

The most important is that these are two fantastic artists!

  • I love Eric Clapton and this is a great rendition of the JT's song ... but ... compare his guitar solo in this song with the solos of two great (unfortunately dead) jazzmen like pianist player Don Grolnick (in many live versions with JT) or tenor sax player Michael Brecker (in the original song). Listen to the other versions and you will see that Clapton is a great singer and a great composer but not a god musician, as many people think.

  • @pinberttube How will I know EC is not a good musician by listening to other people's performaces?

  • Clapton is GOD.

  • Amazing clip, one of his finest guitarsolos..

  • A song of the great James Taylor.

  • PLAY CLAPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do it boy!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome!! しっとりしますね。

  • Classic, classic way of taking this and making it almost a completely different song.

  • Could anyone actually cover/tab this song? its just too damn beautiful not to learn how to play this... too bad im not good enough just yet. ERIC CLAPTON is GOD.

  • Anyone know where I can get an MP3 of this song?

  • @thedonace213 Well, it's on Clapton's Reptile album if you want the Clapton version, but the original is James Taylor. I don't know where you normally get your music from, but whatever source it is, it's bound to have one or the other, if not both.

  • Jmliger.Yes you are absolutly right.Goose Bumps

  • Man this gives me goose bumps.

  • True, of course Eric Clapton is great, c'mon, I know...but no one does these songs like the one and only JT..c'mon, the original ones are soooooooooooo great, that it is a tribute that Eric would pay respects to JT, as JT truly admires Eric. I did not get goose bumps on this one, but always do with James, though Wonderful Tonight gives me the bumps-that is how I rate a love song......

  • @onefoot7 dude, are u serious?...taylors version is sooo bland, it has noooo emotion, the guitar is soo boring....yer an idiot

  • @skeeptar no emotion? he had the emotion to CREATE the song, and he put plenty of soul into that motherfucker, have u listened to the sax solo? believe me, eric clapton wouldnt be emulating no emotionless bum. dont sell a master like JT short

  • @skeeptar Says the man who uses the word "yer". Both are amazing, in their own special way. Now be quiet and enjoy the music.

  • @RepublicOfUs u cant compare claptons emotion in this song with the orginal song.. the original song is soooooooooo boring omg

  • @RepublicOfUs I AGREE with YOU!!!

  • The Cooolest Dude Alive...

  • great solo

  • wonderful never get tired of it

  • Great version, and I love Clapton's singing and playing, but Mike Brecker's solo on the original is still the best...

  • great version!

  • incredible

  • Nice song! Great singing! Amazing guitar solo!

  • Wow. Amazing performance of a great song. Totally original take on it. Bravo Eric.

  • 10 seconds into the song i added it to my favorites

WOW INCREDIBLEwhat can i say further? jaw dropping!!

  • This was always the only JT tune I EVER liked...and not until I'd heard Rosemary Clooney do it on the "Atlantic Jazz" boxed set did I like it...but this performance is a revelation. And not because of his guitar-playing: Hey Clapton is Clapton, you expect the tone to sing, you expect the blues licks to be as good as five notes can be...it's his singing. I always thought he was a good singer... now I'll have to admit, at least once, he was GREAT. Michaels Bolton and MacDonald, slash wrists NOW.

  • The James Taylor version was so good that I thought it couldn't get any better until now. Funny thing is that I always liked Eric Clapton but wasn't the biggest fan. This song though,...WOW. This is so much more soulful. The absolute best version! The Lead guitar licks are in the best taste. Great stuff!

  • Great song by James Taylor.

But Eric sung and played it like the Isley Brothers. Great Job by all!!!

  • He is heart and soul. WOWSER!

  • eric you a so gifted great song

  • Great cover of a beautiful song. EC is so talented. Nadine

  • Great version thanks so much I didn't know EC covered it but he does it so well. Goes perfect w/you look wonderful tonight

  • Ninguna otra version se le acerca ni a los talones a la version de Michael Brecker con James Taylor

  • Wow. Awesome. A JT song done by Clapton. A bit of perfection!

  • He should duet this w/ James Tayor.

  • Wow..brilliant version of James Taylor's song. Clapton is a great vocalist and there is just an incredible solo coming up in this song. I mean, I have heard many different Clapton solos but what he does in this song is truly inspired and brilliant. Stay tuned!

  • Wow! Is there anything E.C. can't do? What a wonderful rendition of a wonderful song!!

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful

  • awesome version!

  • Big Up here! this version just makes melt!

    Ohho so sweet....

  • does anyone have a clearer recording of this song? its such a nice song and love what eric did with the song..

  • It's on "Reptile" - the commercial recording Eric released in 2001

  • but in this comercial there are pieces of the song or there is all the song?

  • Comment removed

  • everybody justly speaks about Clapton's guitar skills, but I think that besides these manifest abilities, Clapton is the best singer that I have ever heard

  • I love this performance in part because Eric looks like a geeky 1960's college kid -but really, he's 56 years old!

  • That's actually how his image has been since the early 90's ;)

  • yhh haha true and now 64 and jaw droppingly amazing

  • A Brilliant Solo!

  • Wow! He made that song his own. Beautiful version.

  • Oh shit...did you hear that at 39 seconds!! Soul.

  • Great!!!

    Thanx for posting.

  • Most soulful guitarist that has ever lived...

  • it's god in person

  • I wonder if Eric has any surviving relatives back in England who occasionally see him on TV winning a Grammy or an Obe or something like that, and manage to think to themselves, "Wow, we really were total dicks to that poor kid."

  • i can only hope so

  • I think Eric's trying to copy the Isley brothers version of this tune (orginally written by James Taylor). Not bad. You sould listen to the Isley Bros version and compare it to this. It's pretty close.

  • One of the greatest love-song of the last century, no doubt! And even though I'm deeply moved by James Taylor's own versions, this one by Mr. Eric Clapton and The Impressions, rocks it to heaven!!!

    Thank you for uploading it!

A big hug from Mexico City.

  • i cant believe how great eric is....

  • sublime...

  • Outstanding!!

  • He's the best

  • yeaaaah...

saw him in Milan for Reptile Tour..

    he is so smooth..

  • Fantastic post '08!! Thx!! 'clap'n hands'....

  • i love this song and this guy, he is just amazing and so sexy, =)

  • he IS the sex, ain't he, tango? ;p

  • love this song
