  • you should do the hammer house of horror theme tune

  • This is how every one wants to see how the "real" Jean Micheal Jarre plays the best YouTube laserharp in the best living room. Still sounds and looks cool!

  • will you make a tuto to show how to build it ??

  • Amazing, Every Wiz Kid wants to have this in his home! Cool Radias by the way! 5*

  • Hello, which is your controleur, I possede a cotroleur, but he(it) not this programe not as your, saddened I sui francais and I badly speaks English

  • THAT. WAS. AMAZING!!!!

  • One of the BEST covers of Jean MIchel Jarre Laser Harp I have ever seen on youtube! Congrats my friend!

  • vraiment tres bien realisé , le son vient du korg m3 ¿, il est tres BIEN !!

  • THIS IS LIKE DUBSTEP IF IT WAS CLASSICAL MUSIC

  • Very, very , very nicely done !!!:-)

  • way cool man i love it i wil build one too but why are you wearing the gloves for

    greating from the netherlands

  • wow, thats great..... respekt....

  • @DjLEATH3R No effect really, just the cameraman (my brother) zoomin in on my very very shiny sunglasses. :-)

  • @rfoshaug How much did you pay for lazer harp? I so want one >:/

  • Well folks we are now offically living in the future.

  • I will be putting a video of me playing the Laser harp i built on here soon... Its a project that a lot of people are taking up... I have PDF files and software to build and run a laser harp very soon... :D

  • Speechless.

  • Thats freeekin awesome.

  • OMG you are a genius. not just good playing but a fantastic remix. i can't stop listening to this.

  • I am in the middle of building a 2nd laser harp myself, got all the parts, sound patches and midi software.. They are great fun..

  • can i buy it???????????? XD to nice

  • Later that day he took over the world

  • You Sir, are a GENIUS!

    Congratulations.

  • If you ever market the laser harp I would most definately be interested in buying one.

    Magnificent!!!!

  • @elecsa01 You can find ready made Laser harp controller from Prolight. I'm saving money for this one, as I already have laser projector from Laserworld CS-300g

  • perfect!!!! biutiful.

  • Great

  • this is good he should play with jean micheal jarre

  • AMAZING, truly love it.......

  • Nothing like a hard day and relaxing to this music :)

  • Just great, 5th time watched! this year, what really like about your Jarre covers is your use of modern digital musical equipment to get THAT sound, vintage is good to.

    more PLEASE.

  • FANTASTIC WORK!!

  • dude that is the sickest thing i have ever scean and i mean that in a good way omfg

  • The link says PLAY

  • I do believe that is the most incredible video I have ever seen! nice!

  • Why isn't there any sound at the end when he puts his hands over the lasers?

  • @NinjaDuck1337 Thanks for your question. The laser harp is programmed in such a way that once it starts folding the beams together it stops sending sound on/sound off signals to the synth and enters a mode where it waits for the hand to be removed (or in this case moved down) as its cue to switch off the laser beam, letting me use my hands to control when the light goes out. :-)

  • @rfoshaug Awesome.

  • At 5:25 it sounds like a Federal Signal Thunderbolt winding down (air raid siren) somehow.

  • cette musique m'emporte, merci

  • J'adore, bravo ! trop fort :)

  • Great work, congratulations.

    Sotiris.

  • Amazing, the harp and the cover version, well done

  • Let me guess you are scandinavian, huh?

Well let me congradulate you, this is MUCH better than Jean- Michel Jarre´s version.

    All the best...

    / StephanieMorelli

  • Amazing !!!!

  • Vanvittig kult! :D

  • totally, totally awesome! Even better version than the origional

  • This is magic. No words...

  • *HEAD EXPLODES*

  • JMJ should be inspired by this version :)

    really

  • Impressive performance. Congratulations!

  • it seems as though Jean Michel Jarre somehow knew this was going to be played on a laser harp when he wrote it

  • Very, very cool. Watching it made a shitty day much better.

  • holy wow impressive bad ass omg niceeeeeeeeeeeee

  • A very impressive performance.

I have also made a laser harp, which sounds as if it is a very similar design to yours. Sorry, no videos yet, but I have set up a blog and a Google open source software project: for anyone who is interested in building their own laser harp. Sorry, can't post URL here but just search Google Code for laserharp, and BlogSpot for laser-harp and you should find them.

  • Hi... Will we see you in Spotify soon? That would be appreciated a lot!!! Both all your covers and genuine work should be there. Best regards Vidar

  • How can I make a harp like this. Please tell me ?

  • Magnifique ! Bravo ! Merci ! :)

  • Awesome! No more words ;-))

Can you talk about power of your green laser?

How many mW it is? 200? 300? 400? More?

  • @SavosRU Thank you!!! :o)

    The laser is 400 mW.

  • Great work :-)

  • okay, you kinda look like michael buble. lol.

  • Can I come around and watch you play? I'll bring a crate of beer.

  • Absolutely awesome. I am making my own harp - now that I have almost finished my RGB laser show. How many mW's is the 532 in your harp? looks great in the sunnies!

  • This is utterly fantastic - the like button isnt big enough..

  • This is so brilliant- I had to blog about it - and check out Rune's excellent Radias Heaven synth library - I went out and bought a Radias after hearing it.

  • Nice harp! well done.

  • @rfoshaug Aha! I missed that - I was thinking "I would need a big flashing metronome or something" :)

  • How do you keep the laser harp and the background track in time? There is very little tempo information in the backing track. (And I speak from experience on this one :-) )

  • @shobley Look at the laptop on the floor at 2:48.... :o)

  • @shobley Technically, a special MIDI control change is sent from the sequencer in the Korg M3 (which also does the backing track) to the computer to tell it to turn the "visual metronome" on (yellow or white - i use white for an extra "cue" the beat before some important notes are to be struck) and off depending on the value of the CC.

  • Awesome!

  • this is just too INCREDIBLE for words!!! My hat off to you sir!! Jean Michel Jarre beware!!

  • I have the laser hapr of Kromalaser and I would like to create this sound with ABSYNTH 4 ... I'm wondered if anyone can help me please

  • perfect remix :D

  • IMPRESIONANTE.

     ¡Increíble!

    Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

  • Flipping AWESOME! A home made laser harp! I want one. :(

  • Hi, amazing video.!!

It's possible to get the mp3 of the music except the laser harp sound?

I would like to play this song with my synth.

    Thanks in advance !

  • this is gr8 mate

  • Any second Iron Man is going to bust out through the wall and give you a record deal.

  • I don't suppose you're willing to share the patch from your M3 that you used for this? =)

  • bravo sir a beautiful piece of music and it has been done justice

  • bravo sir a beautiful piece of music and has been done justice

  • Hallo.Ich liebe dieses Video! Die Laserharfe ist schon was ganz besonderes

und das Stück von J.M.J. hast du echt super darauf umgesetzt! Ich kriege davon nicht genug! Richtig geil!!!

  • Better then the original!!!

  • Never heard of such a thing, but this is really fantastic.

  • I hear the rumors say that you will actually be a stand in for Jarre in Oslo next weekend at "festningen 2010". True? ;) Well, maybe not, but if you got this on record together with your other genuine work I will sure buy it. One for my self and some for gifts to my friends. It would be much appreciated to have all your work on high quality media instead of having it through limited bandwidth wires... Voyager, Dream-catcher, Fairytale are all professional sounded masterwerch!

  • really amazing. The drums give it new life. 10/10

  • Nice work!

  • cool glasses u are wearing :-) and now, close your eyes and listen.... perhaps u wouldn't matter thats not the master himself ;-) uhm perhaps mr jarre is unavailable or prevented in one of his legendary concerts you could be able to substitiute him....

  • it was a fucking awesome version of this one...

  • would you be willing to do a cover of Jean Michel's 2nd Rendezvous Laser Harp portion? That's my favorite.

  • GREATTTTT !!!! The execution of this piece of Jarre is really well well well done !

I would really have one ... the only one issue is: where to find it :(

  • What material is your gloves you used to play your laser harp made out of?

  • @Chicagoman2008 They are just normal workman's gloves that I got at the local hardware store. :-) The only thing I looked after was that they should be as white as possible to reflect laser light.

  • @Chicagoman2008 Look for the antistatic gloves you can get at Fry's or another electronic store - they work well.

  • and how much does that kinda stuff cost O_O

  • Release your album! I'd buy it at once.

  • WHY THE HELL IS THIS GUY ONLY IN HIS LIVING ROOM??? OR YOUTUBE??

SOMEONE SIGN HIM UP AND GET HIM ON STAGE WHERE HE BELONGS!!!

  • @kolakube123 Thank you. :o)

  • @kolakube123 - I agree. Brilliant cover. Perhaps one day Jean-Michel Jarre will get Rune to perform something on stage with him.

  • @HighFlyer999

Yes, imagine what they could achieve if they got together and formed a band!! wow!!

I only liked Jarres Oxygene. One of my all time favs but not keen on the rest. Rune breaths new life into Jarres music, extending it etc without running it.

When I look at all the dros out there like X factor and other terrible music, how is someone like Rune not on stage??

  • @kolakube123 you're wright!

Jean Michel! This guy should stay at the stage next to you! It could be a great duo...

  • 0-0 Please play at my wedding.

  • Try to record Jarre's Calypso 2.

  • congrats, beautiful demonstration of superb work :)

  • Amazing !!. Where could I get the "laser arp" sound with these treeble octaves?

  • What i can say???? PERFECT!!!!

  • i can imagine being off my bollox playing with that for hours totally tripping balls

  • hi just curious...is this laser dangerous? why do u wear gloves n dark glasses?some kind of powerful laser?

  • @behzadbhandari The danger is if I place my eye in one of the beams - that would cause permanent damage to my eyesight.

The sunglasses might help a little bit in such an accident, but they are mainly there because it looks cool with the reflections. :-p With or without the glasses, I really really do not want to have a beam hitting my eyes.

The gloves do help the detection a little bit. It mostly works fine playing without them though. ;-)

  • Man, how cool is that!!!! Brilliant interpretation at the end^^ Sounds great!

    I'm out of words^^

    BIG 5******

  • @JeMiJa1975 Thank you! :o)

  • This video left me speechless... Really damn awesome version with a touch of improvisaton on the original score :) Just one question... how in the Heck you made the laser harp ?? Gimme all the details ;) Just brilliant work, man.. utterly brilliant :D

  • @JMJarvinenStudio Thank you. :-)

I created the Laser Harp by combining an ILDA-compatible laser scanner, an USB->ILDA control box w/software interface, a mirror and a high-speed USB camera with my knowledge as a professional computer software developer and a homebuilt Laser Harp software running on my laptop. ;-)

Oh, and a fog machine. :o)

  • @rfoshaug

You made the laser harp yourself?? As well as these superb covers you are obviously a genius! Fantastic

  • Great video! By the way there is a laser harp for sale on the Ebay website, have a look!

  • could you sell us your harp ? really interessed :)

  • @sazemard there is a laser harp for sale on the ebay. have a look

  • Wow, man... Can you make another laser harp for me ? But without synth, i have a cheap keyboard and thats enough for me...

  • Hello,

Verry nice Harp you built. It's verry advanced and the version of Rendez-Vous III is perfect with the rithm inside.

Greetings Albert de Jonge - The Netherlands

  • i like this how do you know where to place your hand to make the same notes as jean michel jarre did when he did this

  • @oufc29 All notes that are used throughout the melody are assigned to a beam each (and this changes during certain points in the song visualized by a dark "wave" through the harp - this is done to avoid having as much as 25-30 beams at the same time). This is the same way it's done on Jarre's harp, except his visualization of changing beams is a bit different.

So during each part of the song, my beams are the same notes as on Jarre's harp, with the lowest on the left and highest to the right.

  • not bad good beat too

  • This is fantastic! You have the laser harp sound spot on! Would have been funny at the end of the video if your mum walked in with a tray of biscuits and a cup of tea! ;-)

  • One of my favorite song by Jarre, and you have played it very well :)

  • Great version!! *****

  • amazing

  • WOW. Einfach nur Geil.

  • You did it! Mega mega cool performance.

Once you got it all in one box as you planned, bring it to the market.

    I'll be your first buyer.

  • Co tu dużo mówić... Niesamowite! Brawo!

What can I say... Amazing! Bravo!

  • you're really fantastic !!! which is the synth that you pilote ? i think you're the best performer of JMJ music

    Piero from Italy

    sorry for my english

  • This is awesome! Just for the record, what did you spend making this laserharp. I mean it really doesn't look cheap.

  • I think that you are very good and have done a fantastic job playing this track 5/5 stars

  • Impressive to say the least. I admire your technical abilities, I really envy you.

  • wow man, thats trully fantastic made!

    Respect!

  • Excellent! Better than JMJ ;-) Could you give us a MP3 version?

  • WOW! Great. Thumbsup.

  • Excellent !!! Great !!! I like the visual, and your additional part to the music.

  • Good playing, nice "toy", congrats for reaching a dream, thats the way to go, keep going.

    Hernan ortiz

  • Amazing, fabulous, awesome. I am just a little envious of your technical and musical abilities. ;-)

This and JMJ Indoors 2010 EPK are the 2 GREATEST things on Youtube in my opinion. :-)

And this is one of JMJ's favourites. You must be very proud.

  • truly fantastic

  • whooow!!!! that is very impressive dude. It is time that Jarre hires you.

  • @synthetic24 Haha, I'm not sure people at his concert would be very pleased if some unknown dude played the Laser Harp instead of Jarre himself. ;-) Thanks for your nice words though!

  • WOW. thats the first word that comes to mind. Really loved the beats. Bring us more.

  • exellllllent

  • absoulutely fantastic

  • I have only one word: AWESOME :-)

  • Fantastic, your face impression shows you´re really in this thing!

  • I'm really impressed, if you believe it? Your musical arrangement is beautiful!

Do you know where can I buy a arpe laser, or how to build it?

I dream of having one. Thank you and congratulations, I've saved in my favorites list. I'm French.

    Soon I hope.

  • Another thought ... a 2 octave laser harp controller, use blue or red lasers for the "black notes". Could be a very sound commercial product. If you want any help getting it financed, manufactured, and marketed, then send me an email via Korg Forums? Best regards, Rob

  • Hi Rune, absolutely fantastic. Many congratulations on the electronics, the sound design and performance. I'm sure JMG would be very impressed if he sees it. Best regards from Rob Sherratt at Korg Forums and Karma Labs!

  • Very good !!! ))

    Greg

  • This extended part is nice :)

  • Rest of music could be better (some fals notes) but laser harp is GREAT! Congratulations! I You wish You can play to my cover RV3.

  • Simply awesome!

  • Awesome !!

  • Great great great !!!!!!! My god !! Where did you find Jarre's laser harp ?? I want it !!! Please tell me where you have found it !!!

  • That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Well done from Sharp at KORG Forum.

  • Thanks for your nice comments!! :-)

  • Loved it well done! Who would not want one of these instruments in their living room.

  • Amazing, as all your performances! I agree with silver21662 : J.M. should offer you a duo concert!

  • Outstanding performance! Are you using a 100mW laser or something more powerful?

  • @judasoporco Thanks. :-) The laser scanner is a relatively cheap Chinese 400 mW scanner I got on eBay.

  • @rfoshaug

You're using the gloves just for show, although they may have a good impact on detection.

Great idea to just put a bounce mirror in front of a regular projector, BTW. If you're in a small venue and are unable to make a good beam spread, move the projector farther away and use a bigger slot in the floor. Are you communicating with the projector through regular ILDA, or did you take the internals apart?

  • @Stoney3K The gloves can help a little bit with detection, but as you say, they are mostly because they look cool. That said, once the beams gather at the end, I do feel a little bit of heat without my gloves on.

The laser scanner is a standard ILDA-compatible scanner, controlled by an EasyLase USB->ILDA controller. No soldering was required, just lots and lots of programming on the laptop. :-)

  • i've been watching this over and over again since last night... really can't believe what I see :)
