  • WOW, LDS and Southern Baptist. Your mom must have not had strong convictions to just convert.

  • and also, the ones who say they believe in god so they wont go to hell are idiots. belief is only half. james, jesus' brother, said " you say you believe? even the demons believe and tremble! faith without works is dead!" so belief is as good as saying if im a decent person ill get into heaven...which is also a load of crap.

  • i love the way you call him your god.(not being sarcastic at all). thats the way it should be...a relationship not a religion. one question though...in your prayer closet just you and god, did you listen to the voice of god?

  • It is a very effective and long established tactic to use fear to convert. And I don't think people who use the argument are ridiculous: believe so something bad doesn't happen to you. We're all, after all, self centered. People using this tactic and the fact that this tactic works is a testimony to the selfishness of humans.

  • dont worry bitch, we hate u 2

  • I like your perspective on relgious preaching quite a bit. I never was a very strong Christian growing up but I definetly had attended Church up until I was about 11. I'm quite agnostic now but I still give merit to Christianity for what it is, which is a strong set of morals and beliefs that can guide a person's reason for existance, etc. but its the approach in which many Christians try to use that gives them a bad name. The whole FEAR GOD thing just doesn't work with faith...

  • I can appreciate your perspective, since I too was strongly Christian. Losing my faith wasn't a pleasant experience for me but I had to question it because part of my doctrine/philosophy was that truth, _real_ truth, is important and I should seek it. I was expecting to find reasons to make my faith stronger but what I got instead was more and more uncertainty and doubt. It was rather depressing.

  • You are very inspirational. I was blown away by this video, you have a great sense of what being a good person is about, it seems to me. Thank you very much for your thoughts.

  • excellent observations, nothing at all that i could disagree with... and wow heh. we did a lot of the same things as christians.

  • ha, right on. that's so cool. i bet we'd have a lot to talk about. a lot in common in that aspect, ha. thanks for actually taking the time to watch this. :)

  • and now i'm listening to yer singing. i need to upload some of my songs again.. i deleted them cuz no one was viewing or commenting heh. i would love to do a duet with ya =P

  • i would love to check them out! i'd do a duet with you. can we do those over youtube somehow? ... hehe.

  • nah, but what i did with someone once was have them sing to something they were playing a guitar to, and send me the wmv or whatever, and i can take the vocals and sing over them... just that the levels are hard to keep synced heh. i just tried recording something with my webcam mic and it's got a wierd ass high buzzing sound.. so. blah.

  • ah, okay. aw well. something will be figured out soon, i'm sure, ha. there'll be duets all over the place. i'll be keeping my eye out for your music, for sure, though. i love sharing music...

  • i'm uploading one now. just a quick song. heh.

  • Not only are you cute, you're cute.

  • lol... thanks. :)

  • Great vid :)

  • thanks, brad. :)

  • i can't get the video to get pass 1 minute and 1 second. is anyone else having this problem? can anyone help me? i really want to watch the rest of the video. thanx

  • hey, are you still having problems viewing this video? let me know, and i'll see if i can help you out. if you're still interested in watching it, i mean. :)

  • preacher actually said this: "do you really want to roll the dice with your soul?" Fucking ignorant. i was a little seven yr.old kid i sensed somthing wrong with that argument. basically:"dont use your brain. dont think..thinking leads to questions..questions lead to doubt..doubt leads to searching for the truth and then this fucking illusion falls apart." and you know what? THEY ARE FUCKING RIGHT! hallaluia sister.

  • lol, this comment rocks my face off. i feel like i haven't seen this before. haha, right on.

  • very smart video. i agree 100%

  • you're back! :) fucking awesome.

  • Given your past, how did your world view change to transition from the religious beliefs? What events, thoughts or people were influences? I would really like to see you make a video about that. I can't wait.

  • Thanks Castaa... I'll get this up as soon as I can. Thanks for even being interested, ha. :)

  • You're really stuck on this "you gotta believe because you'll go to hell" thing. Sounds like the churches you've experienced were dead. Kinda like a shell of what they once were. I believe in a God of power that you can feel. But sadly, you don't find that in the churches any more.

  • That was absolutely Beautiful Ashley, or is it that every word that comes out of your mouth is beautiful. I couldn't have said it better myself and I commend you for your passion on this subject. I think you explained it very well. I myself am on a road exploring many paths. I remember watching lost and being very torn on Jack and Locke. Both on opposite sides of the spectrum.

  • i don't know why i didn't say anything when you first posted this comment. i felt undeserving of the compliment, for sure. i'm glad you got something out of watching this, though. radical mya.

  • I strongly dislike all religions including Christians(and Islam, Judeism, etc), but I'm not comfortable brushing all christians as a monolithic block because some are wakko or offensive, when others are rather respectful. I think some christians are more cultural christians(taking the good 'values' and leaving the worship and folklore out). On the other hand I also sometimes point to groups for simplicity.

  • Naw, when it comes to their character, that's something totally different. I actually met a pretty rad Christian this morning. He caught me reading "Atheism: A Short Introduction" and whipped out his Bible... and started to read Psalms. I called him out, and we talked about it a decent amount of time on the bus ride downtown. It was neat.

  • i feel the same way. But isnt religion or more accurately, the church, just a form of control via fear? Or am I just jaded by one too many sunday school lessons where they taught "thou shall not lie" as one of the ten commandments to avoid explaining adultry? lol

  • ... haha. I like that... the idea of Sunday school teachers trying to avoid the subject of adultry, ha... fucking silly.

  • "...than the atheists... are tearing you apart." That was too much; love the vid! Favorited.

  • You're the favorited one.

  • come to the dark side! don't be afraid, that's what they want. you found out it's about fear. don't worry, I know my share of christian songs. I still remember the christian version of Louie Louie - Pharaoh Pharaoh, oh baby let my people go. yeah yeah yeah

  • Haha, "Pharaoh, Pharaoh." I was a total advocate in teaching elementary school kids how to do motions to that song, haha. So funny you said that.

"You found out it's about fear." This sentence started a whole other video that I haven't posted yet. I actually want to do it over.
