  • sloppy hips

  • Should be from a punch not from a position you " met here somehow" . + the block jeff gave was waaay wrong. He brought his arm across his body then blocked the other way. I right punch should be blocked with the left hand coming across his body, followed by the other hand which opens a left strait for jeff. This was how i was taught and its more direct and crosses the attacker up so he cant come back with another strike, But that me....

  • hey can you please post more videos about more basics in trapping? i now founded a group of martial arts with my friends, or at least i'm on it, so i want more techniques that can be practiced with them

  • Who's your instrucor?

  • Whatbif he counters the pak Sao

  • Excellent video sir. Clear instruction, detailed and on the spot!

  • yes, it applies to both.

    sifu

  • I'm curious about your thoughts on the lop sao. My Sifu tells me that Lop Sao is not pulling, but rather a redirection and controlling. But in practicing and in videos like this, it definitely looks and feels like pulling. What do you think about the concept? Is it a pulling, is it a redirection, or is it both?

  • it really depends on whether you want to practice a combative or a stylistically authentic lop sao. so, basically your Sifu is not wrong. generally in most classical wing chung forms it is a redirection. try practicing both in combat, and then let the proof be in the pudding, but my money is on the less stylistic version.

  • Thanks for the reply. I actually had a talk with my sifu about this yesterday and he told me basically the same thing. He said to try both and you'll know what works and doesn't work for you. He then said that Wing Chun is meant to be custom tailored to the individual and in fact, Bruce Lee even though he didn't think of himself as a Wing Chun man, really was one. I tried out both and you were right. The pulling lop sao is better.

  • Are you referring to jeet kune do or wing chun kung fu when you do lop sao, and pak sao techniques? Please let me know. Thank you ahead of time.

  • jeet

  • i put my uncle in a lap sao last night. he was trying to push me. i'm pretty pleased with this technique.

  • i think i'd rather pull his weight torward me. a good habit to get into.

  • LOL the planes was unexpected.

  • OH my god thank you so much for clearing the pak sao and the lop sao for me. Know the basics but now that I know what it is I can do it better now! Thanks!
