I am not teally a dog pardon, but I think Salukis are The most brazilski digs, German shepherds are very good dogs, they are reliable and loyal. Also they are smart dogs.

If I was EVER to choose another dog than a Shepherd, (not likely) but IF it would have to be a Rottweiler. They don't shed as much as a GSD, they are pretty smart and do not require quite as much of you as a Shepherd does. They still need the exercise, but are not as fast as a Shepherd. I do like their mellow attitude. Both make very cute puppies, but...Nah, I'd get another Shepherd. They are just too much!

okay, german shepherds are way smarter than dobermans....i've had both, GSDs know what's happening around them at all times and are very alert and intune with their masters. dobermans are crazy and i wouldn't trust one, sorry but that's just my opinion. they suuuuuuuuuuck shepherds rule!!!

@lightbrigadeable Dobermans would easily make a top ten list for smartest dog breeds. I do agree german shepherds are smarter, but only slightly and in different ways. IMO, it would have to be a border collie or a poodle.

I have had 2 German Shepherds, one I still have. I have to vote for the
Border Collie. I have one of those too. Border Collies IMO are more
(on the average) interested in what their owner wants than any other
breed. German Shepherds are a better choice for most people.Once my
German Shepherd dies I want to get my first Doberman because I hope
she will be able to keep up the the BC and shed less.

@semperfi1000 I have a doberman, too, and they're very different from GSDs. I hope you enjoy her. Personally, they're one of my favorite breeds, if not my favorite.
