Awesome video! I personally use Django, as I can see that booze drinking guy there me. :) I guess the point of the video is that Django and RoR are very similar, besides the underlying language. I tried Ruby, but enjoyed programming in Python more. I preferred it syntax over the syntax of Ruby.

One annoying thing about Rails is that most of the people using it actually have very little understanding of the underlying language. Ruby isn't really used in the West, but there's still people who elect to use a framework in a language they don't know simply because it's in vogue.

I disagree. Fast CGI and Catalyst. A small script that honestly, its just crtl-c then crtl-v then, boom its all secure, wow big deal, same as any other language, you do have to do some manual securing. Even with RoR.Catalyst can go just as good with ajax, and building it into your web apps. Plus, web graphics? High Scale design? Perl has that covered with a wide variety of graphics modules and it can be hooked into silverlight with moonlight, a free server, Boo-Yaa.
