They assume she ran out, went to her dealer; whom was out, and got sucked into injecting the heroin because that's all there was. which started her on injecting instead of smoking ( different high) So if the tails are right.. she most likely got infected by sharing needles. I did an essay on her in University.
But then again, not that I think about it.. She may have caught it from having sex with men. When she was caught with drugs during a shoot she was fired and no one would hire her anymore. She moved to NJ and slept with random men to get money to buy the drug.. So really.. its hard to say.

Gia was a person who needed to be loved completely. People loved her for her looks, and it was not enough. It is much harder to get people help than you think. One comment was would she have made an impact if she wasn't beautiful? People make headlines for differen't reasons, and she was an outline to addiction and what it can do to you. Looks like she had it all, but she really didn't have anything. It is so sad. People who mock and make fun really are being cruel.

Heroin didn't give her 'love', but helped her to forget her troubles. Ironically if she'd managed to stay clean,she probably would have found love eventually, but not many people can live with an addict and sadly because of the addictive nature of the drug,whilst she was using it, it would always take priority over everything and everyone else.
Heroin is a 'jealous' companion.
Using it creates problems which you then need to escape from by using it again, it's an evil, vicious circle.

People say "what a tragedy" but in reality a drug addiction is so forceful and overpowering on the person that it can't b controlled. Gia wouldn't want to end up like she did, obviously, the drug just rules.

@castingtherunes - when people have to deal with drug addicts, they complain, they call them names. But once they die, all of the sudden they become romanticized. It is the same thing with Gia as with Billie Holiday. All of the sudden one reads these comments "poor soul in pain", "poor thing", etc. People are so ridiculous.

Gia was a person who needed to be loved completely. People loved her for her looks, and it was not enough. It is much harder to get people help than you think. One comment was would she have made an impact if she wasn't beautiful? People make headlines for differen't reasons, and she was an outline to addiction and what it can do to you. Looks like she had it all, but she really didn't have anything. It is so sad. People who mock and make fun really are being cruel.

Also, I don't know a single person who knew about her before the film was made. Yes, she was attractive but beyond that, she was an average person who had mental health issues, did drugs, and developed AIDS. Why was she attracted to such an empty industry and career like modeling if she didn't want attention?

I don't know why but this woman makes a huge impact on you, somehow, it is kinda scary what drugs can do to you. She looks very sad and lonely in this interview, she looks lost.

What you saw as melancholic I saw as BULLSHIT If she had really found a love for life like she said she did she would of stayed off drugs and lived a purposefull life. Instead she never truly allowed anyone to see her for her. She became whoever she needed to be within any given circumstance in order to get by which is the normal survival technique of a person who doesn't know themself. @tobeedetermined Some probably didn't even try, but I'm sure there are other people who did try to help and had no luck. Just because you try to help someone doesn't mean you can make someone want to be helped.
She seemed like a very emotionally sad person. I don't know enough of her story to make any large sweeping judgements about her, but it seems obvious just looking at her that she had a huge hole somewhere in her heart.
Just a sad, sad story, like the guy said.

They only needed her to do the shoot and even if they wanted to help...someone who needs help has to ask and agree with the help process - she had a drug addiction...it's a severe health issue.....and mentally she was too fragile to be that string & constructive...inside the lack of love for her was killing her someway already..

Honestly studying this woman she was borderline, narssicistic,sociopath or psychopath I'm gearing towards psychopath. Live fast and die young. She didnt give her life thought at all and probaly didnt care about anyone else either. She may have not been a psychopath and was just being a drug addict. Although spiritually I get something dark from her even I felt bad for her demise. She was a talent but like most psychopaths and/or drug addicts didnt care.

Heroin didn't give her 'love', but helped her to forget her troubles. Ironically if she'd managed to stay clean,she probably would have found love eventually, but not many people can live with an addict and sadly because of the addictive nature of the drug,whilst she was using it, it would always take priority over everything and everyone else.
Heroin is a 'jealous' companion.
Using it creates problems which you then need to escape from by using it again, it's an evil, vicious circle.

i mean no disrespect, because yes, it's very sad how she died, but many of us need to ask - what if she were NOT a beautiful woman? Would we be talking about her? Would we call her an angel? There are many many people that are dying in the exact same manner, but they are not a supermodel. How did it start? Why did she start with the drugs? Young and beautiful - so many models so so well - what was it that ruined her? I hate to think of how she died.Scavullo saw it. He makes sense.
