How to reset the refillable cartridges for Epson RX680 printer

After hours of trying to reset my Epson Stylus Photo PX710W I found WIC Waste Ink Counter reset utility - I purchased the key and it set my counter back to Zero - The printer is now working again.

Next time I buy a printer it will not ne an Epson.

It worked for me the first time I tried this method on a remanufactured black ink I bought online for my Epson printer. Yesterday I tried it again with another cartridge, but this time it does not work.

Can someone please verify that this method works on a refilled cartridge, and weather the cartridge shown here is interchangeable with other Epson printer models, I just want to do some research on what printer is most DIY refill friendly. thank you.
