  • It's a miracle those assholes on Fox Network, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, or Rush Limbaugh don't use this as their theme song.

  • Hello, everyone. Can someone answer me if this song has anything to do with Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor ? Thank you.

  • @Patriotis1 This song is from WWII. It's about the Axis powers: Japan, Germany, Italy.

  • @Patriotis1 This is actually more related to the fire bombing of Dresden and coastal Japan.

  • prince

  • great cover of this classic deep purple song!

  • @coolanddark this is not the cover....this is the ORIGINAL........you moron

  • @wphinz completely different songs w/same name (pretty common) the Deep Purple song is about "how we recorded our last album & what went wrong when we did" It's my favorite song about work; how troubles arise and you find a way to finish the job.

  • @coolanddark ..ha ha ha Just like Stairway to Heaven....ck it out!

  • i bet nobody posting coments here has ever heard this son when it came out

  • @vega92 Wrong,I was seven years old. Thank God we didn't have our present government back then. We would be speaking japanese or german today.

  • You're all getting ahead of yourselves, none of you are right. Your saying that one was the other and the other was another. No one country ever won a war by bullshiting themselves. English, American, we're all the same. We're all arrogant bastards that don't want to admit it. Either one of us want to disprove the other. You'd think with a place of knowledge like the internet, there'd be fewer ignorant people.

  • Right on Kyle Joseph Ummamum.

  • these are some pretty brutal lyrics

  • @kikzmyster Those were some pretty brutal people...I remember the Death March on Bataan.....

  • Deep Purple had a great inspiration

  • Köszönöm a feltöltést <:o)

  • wait a second, wheres the DUM DUM DAAA, DUM DUM DA DAAAA, DUM DUM DAAA .. DUMMM DUMMMMM!

  • "But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us" FDR

  • @Cellwrath I believe the proper word is thrash.

  • Anybody else think of Fallout 3?

  • DAMN! This is Patriotism!

  • @TimBuktu666 Ditto's ..!

  • @TimBuktu666

No, it's Jingoism, which is Patriotism that has gone full retard.

  • A mind that has expanded can never return to it's original size.

  • 1944 WTF -.-

  • deep purple?

  • @XrenanXmattos Deep purple Weren't born yet ..!

  • deep purple born 24 years later....

  • @carnut476 Well,Blackmore was about a year old when this was recorded, then about twentysix years later him and Purple recorded thier own version of smoke on the water.

  • You got Spurvs there jingle jangle jingle

  • Holy crap! My dad used to sing this when I was a kid. I never thought I would hear the original. My dad had a better melody, though. Probably because he couldn't remember the original.

  • This is history for the ears. And it sounds good............ and evil. It's just great!

  • I bet this was what our troops listened to on the way to beat the sh*t out of the Germans on D-Day

  • @overpwnage17 die on cancer :D

give a little respect to all these soldiers of any nation! this was a f*ching war 4 this poor world....

  • @Ogamer93 well i guess thats true, I respect all troops

  • The lyrics are more metal than those of the DP song, lmao!

  • what the hell is this...

  • @kawasakiking28 LOL!!! I couldn't believe it either!

  • ...this was also a 'pop' hit for Red... wonderful song and performance...!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • im 24 and i can clearly say .. im into the 1940's music !!! ; )

  • now look how i just made a statement and they go crazy like that =D

You are arrogant because u think your country is so awesome and you dont accept your mistakes or any criticism. And you have no idea about your own history. Umm yeah you have a overview like "1763 revolution bum win "1914 war bum win"1937 war bum win" you have no idea about the circumstances of those. You have no idea of the events which led to the war situtations and you just sing about foes of freedom and mankind. noobs =)

  • I don't think Zeke would like Perfume !

  • where's deep purple :)

  • when will you ignoramuses realize the difference between arrogance and nationalism?

  • thatnk you alan paladin

    thank you youtube

  • The arrogance of the USA knows no limits

  • @Lionis123 seriously? well hes singing about the time that the US had to go to war because your asshole country executed jews by the millions and was trying to take over the world.

doncha think hitler was a little bit arrogant, dumbfuck?

  • @AgentCarter

The United States only went to war because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, not because of Germany - "dumbfuck."

World War II started in 1939. The United States STAYED OUT of the war - officially - until 1941. It's ridiculous self-agrandizement for you to say that America went to war because Germany was trying to exterminate Jewish people when the Allied powers didn't know just how bad it was until they actually found the camps in 1944.

  • @funstuff2006 missing the point my friend

  • @Lionis123

Where are you from dip sh*t? I bet we saved your country at least once. Europe, check. Africa, check. South America, check. Asia, check. How bout you go crawl back in your hole and STFU. If it wasn't for the US you would all still be English, French or Spanish colonies. Think we didn't change that?

How bout you come get your people the fvck out of my country and we will let you fend for yourself? Sounds like a deal to me.

  • @ericpts10

    amen brother.

  • @ericpts10 How about all american troops go away from the places which are not USA territory??

  • @ericpts10

*snort* you are so goddamn full of yourself. You honestly believe that you "liberated" South America? You've gone to war with Mexico, and tried to invade Cuba, but other than that I don't know where you get off thinking you saved anyone from any colonial power. Are you the one's who told Portugal that they couldn't have brazil anymore? Did you tell Spain to get their hands off Chile? How about he British Virgin Islands, Barbados, St. Lucia?

  • @Lionis123 Oh, I see. German and anime. Funny how this song is about wwII and you cry. Nazi Bastard.

  • @ericpts10

No no. I´m not crying. I´m just laughing due the amusement guys like you give me XD

and i don´t really seee how you can be a Nazi at the age of 20 maybe you can explain it to me and fill my nescience Mr.Yankee =D

  • Youtube is awesome

  • Deep Purple :D

  • very heavy

  • This is an anthem for those fighting WW2, what kind of rubbish can you who comment come up with! This was a big hit for Bob Wills, Red Foley and others. Our enemies will be totally destroyed for starting the mess!.

  • Spongebob's music is all from this guy's influences isn't it?

  • @Ageish No,Spongebob is greatly influenced by Slayer and Cannibal Corpse.

  • @Ageish

I'd be more apt to say that Spongebob's music is influenced by "Hawaiian Swing" rather than "Western Swing" even though both kinds feature very similar steel guitar playing.

  • Seems like 26 nazis dislike this song :P

  • @FilmpjesInstuurder to FilmpjesInstuurder -That's for sure and certain. kind of reminds me of an old saying that "Honest Abe" used to say - you can not please all of the nazis all of the time

  • I'd like to be eating a nice homemade chicken fried steak with a tall iced tea on a hot June day in some nostalgic diner in the middle of some insignificant town in west Texas while listening to this.

  • @tmattz

I'm with you! West Texas is God's country. I like my chicken fried steak with a splash or two of tabsco sauce.

I used to hear this song during WWII. Bob Wills and Roy acuff also had version out.

    CowboyOld

  • Good song and the lyrics are better than Deep Purple's... but despite my love for good country music... musically, Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water" owns the shit out of this. This is just like many other country songs, while Deep Purple has **THE** riff.

This is for the lyrics (which are awesome) and the Deep Purple one is for the music.

DA DA DAH, DA DA DAH-NA! DA DA DAH, NA NAH!

  • @vanishy0urself

too bad these songs have nothing to do with each other

  • @popomczowzow it's just that in the earlier comments I've seen people hating on Deep Purple's version and praising this as an example of better MUSIC. Yes I know they have nothing to do with each other.

  • @vanishy0urself

    ohhh I see

they both sound good to me

  • @popomczowzow well, this one is good too, but Deep Purple's one is just awesome.

  • @popomczowzow what they have to do with each other is war cause men to smoke a water bong after veitnom ha ah! bad humer sorry.

  • lol

  • haha, sounds like heavy metal lyrics.

  • "The sun that is risin' will go down on that day"

This refers to crushing the Empire of Japan

  • @telefender1 well no kiddig captain obvious the whole song is about the axis power

  • @countrymusicgtavboy2

Sorry my friend, but not everyone is as historically intelligent as you. After all, this is a forum that one can hopefully learn from.

BTW, how are you doing with your authority problem?

  • @telefender1 well i guess you posted your comment for the dumbasses so i should not have repied

  • Don't write me anymore !

  • I have to guess that this is stealth parody.

  • Red Foley singing the gospel of American military might! Amen!! The older people in my family hated the nazis and japs till their dying days.

  • wtf?

  • This music is just as real as Deep Purple, Zeppelin, or anything for that matter.

  • Red was 34 Years old when he recorded this song.

  • my mamaw said they wouldnt play this on the radio case they thought it would cause a battle

  • Now this is a great music... why don't we have good music like this in 2010.... Thanks to YouTube for making this great music available to newer generations... this is fantastic... and real music rather than jungle music made by those who have acid destroyed brains. Cheers........This is going to be a Red Foley night :)

  • @echovarde yur gay

  • @cywen69 fAG

  • this video and song are so crap

  • @cywen69

why is this gay? this is real music

  • @cywen69

im not dealing with a un cultered dickhead so go to hell

  • @cywen69 You sad little brainwashed commie turd .

  • @carnut476 your the dumbass who listens to gay shit

  • @cywen69 this was recorded decades before deep purple but i agree that the rock song is waaay better

  • This song is brutal!!!!

  • Love it. We should never forget the conflicts that led to the writing of this song. A lot of lessons therein.

  • you could make a metal song out of this. it is talking about death...but its a little racist.

  • @envolopee How so? It wasn't intended as racism at all.

  • Great Song by Red Foley. I like the way that YouTube has placed all of my favorite Barney Songs next to this Great One. Especially > Barney - I Love You

Rest in Peace Red, & Thanks for sharing

  • Why are there a bunch of links to Barney the Dinosaur videos next to this song? Weird. . .

  • because of the tags

  • @bwmcmaste Good point. That is not racist at all. I know the Russians lost 26 million against the Germans in WW11. That is probably more than everyone else combined.

  • Pure Gold! Voice like rich coffee.

  • does anyone knows the guitar tabs / chords?

  • @lekkerstrom its in the key of f

  • good melody, good voice, horrible lyrycs!!!

The Statler brothers are good with lyrycs though

  • GÜZEL PARÇA

  • @WinterHaven You're stupid !

  • @WinterHaven You are right. The Japanese thought they were decendents from god, and far superior to any other people. The Germans thought that the "arian" race was the superior race. But only Americans are considered racist, pardon me - only white Americans.

  • HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I've always loved Red Foley, and I love this song, and all you pacifists can go suck on a shotgun barrel. Pacifism is nothing but acquiescence to fascism, as anyone with half a brain would understand. Also, to all you douchebags who took a wrong turn and ended up here just because you are Deep Purple fans: Deep Purple is kids' stuff compared to Foley. Real men will prefer the latter.

  • cool!

  • This guy does not know about the banana republic dictators from Canada Germany New York in Alabama and in San Francisco the syndicates are king, and some think it is the Chinese syndicates. For details on the ongoing American holocaust of today, Google search Mobile Audit Club. Why do they blame true Hebrews for this sh**

  • Red, your dream is dead. Smoke is on the water, for the army and navy are being used and abused. Google search Mobile Audit Club for details of the ongoing American Holocaust to present day. Investigative journalist and former FDIC bank examiner with details on more than I care to know. Take cover. Mobile Audit Club tells you why.

  • Deep purple Had not covered this song. Its only other with the same title

  • @MrEmiNese

Deep Purple didn't know this song existed with the same title.

  • @Drumguy1988... I hate war fightin for peace is like.. Well you know, for virginity .

  • i prefer the deep purple cover :P

  • @monteoner The Deep Purple song was about a fire in their hotel when they were in Switzerland. The water they speak of is Lake Geneva. As the hotel burned, there was "Smoke on the Water"

  • not what i was expecting... still a good song though :D

  • yiipedee wang dang doodle!

  • Oh, wow, this is awesome. It's like the original "boot up your ass" song.

  • @Quinibus

    AMEN.

  • lol not bad

  • hhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiii

    :-)

  • LOL!

    IT SOUNDS LIKE SPONGEBOB!!!

  • GET-R-DONEEEE BOYS

  • this is bad ass

  • @4124gunner ha i thought the same thing dats y i kliked on it lol

  • You're an idiot.. I really just can't be bothered to explain why, but if you ask me to, I will. Ok, Cream-Puff?

  • Well all the comments do not get to the heart of how we faced a multi-front war, and we did win and conquer. Every American was involved to some degree, it was a fight for survival. If not mistaken Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys has the solid hit on this. Thanks

  • oldie but goldie.

  • Red Foley is - "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone's Grandpa.

He has had a lot of hit recordings. One of them being - "Peace In The Valley". Years ago Red Foley was a household name. Just about everybody heard of Him and knew who He was.

    Rest In Peace Red

    .

  • What an amazing song!!!

  • I know! I found it and thought "I love this already!" It's got that slightly creepy yet charming style.

  • Form the Blue Grass state, Mr Red Foley.

  • Anyone and everyone that likes this great song is a friend of mine.

  • I am Greek, I dont understand excactly what the song says, but I love country music, so I like that song

  • amazed to read the comments on here about people who want peace and think this song is evil. Without the songs like this, our country would've never been able to unite to withstand the pressures put on it BY the war. Rationing, Women becoming sole providers for the first time, etc. Learn your history, I, personally am a child of the 60's and am all for peace.... until someone needs their ass kicked for picking on the little guy.

  • why would a song be the only thing maintaining this country's will to fight?

Oh that's right, I forgot. the US had it easy in world war II. It was much easier to motivate the Brits because they had everything to lose, while the US could sit all cozy knowing the war was on the other side of the world.

America has such a low pain tolerance it's hilarious.

  • well said

  • You forgot that enemy had exactly same kind of songs to unite them. So, they boost morale on both sides about as much.

And please don't write back that on OUR side it boosted more..

  • ww1 was first time women were in the workforce
