  • Since when is visiting places that produce energy efficient items an independence on foreign oil plan?

  • Hey, What if "foreign oil dependence" is actually part of a long-term strategy? Think about it. The U.S. is the third largest producer of oil in the world, we just use it here instead of exporting it. We also import more than half of what we use, why? Does anyone seriously doubt that we COULD produce enough for our needs? Could it be that we choose not to, for now? When the last middle eastern wells run dry, we will still have ours. they will have a bunch of devalued dollars. ;) think about it.

  • Changing light bulbs, installing wind turbines and solar panels have nothing to do with foreign oil. Electricity is generated domestically with natural gas and coal. Foreign oil is what you put in your automobile to drive to the mall. Oil is high do to demand and the US uses 25% of the worlds oil yet has only 4% of the worlds population. Cheap oil days are long gone and prices are high because we are so wasteful.

  • Amazing. Even the Party of the People, the Democrats, refuse to confront the real problem with high energy/oil costs: Oil Speculation.

Myth 1: There is an oil shortage. Not true. Oil production is surging.

Myth 2: The Arabs in OPEC are responsible for driving up the cost of oil. False. OPEC has proven to be an effective well managed cartel that continues to exceed expectations.

Myth 3: The Democrats give a damn. Obviosly, Obama made clear. They don't.

  • Obama didn't answer the question.

What is he doing differently than just talking about it and going on field trips? He keeps saying we need to do this, and we need to do that . . . But, the question is, what has HE done as the president of the United States?

  • @Vulcan750L

He opened economic businesses to solve all these questions and to work on them.

    Things dont change overnight...

Your question is, what has obama done?

Thats not the question you should ask.

You should ask, what disasters has he avoided?

Obama helped and even boosted the economic depression and made room for jobs and businesses.

If mccain was in that chair rather then barack the USA would now be in a economic depression.

  • @Armigo91

I'm not the one asking the question. I'm commenting that Obama did not answer the question asked of him.

"He opened economic businesses to solve all these questions and to work on them."

Sound like just more talk with nothing being done.

By the way, the question is about America's dependency on foreign oil and what has Obama done about it. It's not a question about the depression or unemployment. You seem to have a comprehension problem.

  • @Vulcan750L

Politicians never give definite answers. He would be a bad politician if he did.

  • @gamerbitch707 This is the reply I would expect from a kid who does not know how to reply after he was proven wrong..

  • Illegal for unions to throw companies into wage-spirals, and for every factory built in America, a corporation should get a certain amount of money deducted from its corporate income tax. Make the incentive. Capitalism is based on incentives; not on greed, as people like to think. And I'm not talking all-around tax cuts for the rich; that does nothing. If a company lays off 500 workers, and is making due with the 200 or so it has left, why would a tax cut make that company hire 500 people?

  • Legislation which would provide incentives for corporations to make a certain product, and for people to buy said product. This sort of action would also create jobs in America. Right now, there's a bigger incentive to outsource jobs than to keep things American. Obama and Congress should offer tax cuts to companies which stay in America, and cut down on unions, which are more or less defunct in modern American society. For instance, pass legislation which would make it (cont.)

  • Take action. And the same could be said of our problem with obesity. Buy less junk, more healthy food, and food corporations will follow suit. We can see that, through the growing interest in healthier eating habits, McDonald's and other fast food chains have begun to include salads in their menus, and are on the track to making healthier food. It's a very slow start, but a start nonetheless. This is the magic of capitalism. The only thing Obama could possibly do is to pass (cont.)

  • Fellow greenies, vote with your dollar. Cut oil out of your budget as much as you can. If your job or school is close enough, buy a bike instead of a gas-guzzler, or buy an electric car. Fluorescent lightbulbs. That sort of thing. Energy and oil companies will see where the money's going, and follow it. British Petroleum will be British Solar or something of the sort. It's time to stop waiting for politicians to do anything; all they do is talk and line their coffers. Cont...

  • We HAVE to use up the foreign oil before we use up our supplies. Look Long term... If we use up our oil first then we are at the mercy of foreign countries in the future.

  • who the fuck likes this video?! to solve our dependence on oil we need to worry about putting people to work on recycling shit, obama doesn't mention any thing that actually relates to the problem. what he meant was helps save the government money not the people. retard.

  • hey obama, IF YOU ARE SERIOS ABOUT GOING GREEN, THEN ILLEGALIZE OIL, PUT PEOPLE TO WORK ON SOLAR/GEOTHERMAL/WIND/WAVE/TIDAL/HEMP POWER. OBAMA SPEAKS BUT WILL NOT TAKE ACTION. HE IS A PUPPET, AN INSTRUMENT WITH BROKEN STRINGS AND WITH AN OUT OF TUNE SOUND.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi Um. If you haven't noticed, the republicans are making it hard for Obama to pass anything right now. Of course alternative energy is the best way, but making oil illegal would be impossible at this time. It's up to the individual consumer to make good choices when it comes to protecting the environment. So no, Obama is not a "puppet." Instead of blaming the president, you should probably look at your own impact on the environment first.

  • @idontbelieveyou26 umm if YOU havent noticed republicans and democrats are the exact same thing. i was kidding about making oil illegal. it is just an ironic statement because making oil illegal makes more sense than making pot illegal(since he is for prohibition). actually the consumer cannot make good choices because there are no options. hemp paper/plastic/oil is possible. geothermal energy can supply all our energy needs(same with wind/solar/wave/tidal).

  • @idontbelieveyou26 of course i have looked at my own impact..... but if obama legalized marijuana we could have no more plastic. hemp based plastic is cheaper and longer lasting and more environmentally friendly. obama speaks one second about the environment but he is a politician. having blind faith in a political system is called nationalism. it is the worst of religions.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi I didn't say anything about not legalizing marijuana. I agree with you, it could be used for a lot of things. Same with the other sources you mentioned. I'm just saying that blaming one man for all the world's problems isn't going to solve anything. And yes, the consumer does have choices. Eating meat, for example, takes three times as much fossil fuels to support as a vegetarian diet and is the number one cause of climate change. That's a pretty easy fix to a huge problem.

  • @idontbelieveyou26 i know mon, i am vegan myself. i am just talking about how obama is not good. i am not blaming him, i am saying he is not going to be changing anything, and i am trying to raise awareness to people about how there is more than left wing/right wing politics. i am pointing out his flaws.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi I know partisan politics sucks because everyone wants there party to be on top instead of the country. But I was just saying that pointing out Obama's flaws isn't going to change anything. But whatever, I hate comment arguments...

  • @idontbelieveyou26 ok so in ur opinion the ripple effect is bullshit, and you hate debating over the internet. i think the ripple effect is relative as r internet arguments are a way of learning and teaching.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi How is the ripple effect relevant to any of this? Well, I get how it's relevant, but I don't think it was never even mentioned. No, I don't think it's bullshit. And I just don't like these arguments because obviously me and you want the same thing and agree over most of the stuff we're "arguing" about, but the way we're going about expressing it is different. I just think it's kind of pointless to try and convince each other what we both already know... if that makes sense...

  • @idontbelieveyou26 lolol that comment made a lot of sense

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi Victory! :D

  • what a great job memorizing answers to generally asked questions.... uh mr. president what are you doing?

  • great question
