rust in peace was megadeth's best selling album I believe and Marty's first with megadeth, however his last album with megadeth (i think cryptic writings or youthanasia??) wasn't as great in my opinion. Just what's unbelievable is the guy was rocking on stage with megadeth for 10 hard years while making AMAZING solo albums that you would never even guess he could possibly have time to do. The guy really loves what he does and for that he's my favorite of all time

ehhh megadeth will always be a serious band to me, but I just am not a huge fan of their new stuff I donno, this goes for most all the big four in my opinion Slayer is just so death metal (compare songs like tormentor to bloodline), anthrax's new album is cool but no one would really call it thrash, and we all know the story with metallica. Not saying any of the new stuff is bad it's just not the same. I want to hear a new wave of thrash but I don't know where to turn :(

Judging by the interviews Mustaine still does not realize how lucky he was to have Marty in Megadeth. His solos alone (for example in Tornado of souls or Ashes in your mouth) can turn otherwise mediocre songs into masterpieces. @diziamonddave the reason shawn is in the band is because about 5 shows into the 2004 reuinion tour,tour nick menzas druming apparently wasnt cutting it, so dave found shawn at the last second and thats how he became there drummer. shawn just has nothing original about his playing style, its all simple hihat snare beats with the occasional triplet foot pedal thrown in. he cant even play most of megadeths faster stuff without slowing it down or simplifying it.

Friedman is easily the top choice for the greatest Megadeth lead player EVER! I understand that Broderick is a beast and can play practicaly everything ever invented on guitar (lol), but the truth of the matter is that Marty WROTE the solos (like Tornado of Souls) that we watch Broderick masterfully copy. I mean, seriously Rust in Peace is possibly the greatest guitar album in history! And I love Countdown and Youthanasia (which is a very underrated album) as well.
