  • R.I.P Sven you always took the time to help others :(

  • @jake7x7 did he die....

  • @theblenderfender Yes he died in a house fire :(

  • in every vid u post the road is always wet........does it always rain(EVERYDAY)

  • You prolly have to transcode your footage first thats the problem I have with my dslr

  • I HAVE A PROBLEM! What video editing software did you use? and does this happen with all video editing softwares? Cheers.

  • Check out our new Go Pro/Contour editing software. It finds all of the highlights from your day's footage in minutes. Enjoy! highlight hunter.com

  • good video man, i also got some good footage snowmobiling with my neew contour, picture is unreal, check it out.

  • so how is it for snowboarding? if i dont buy the waterproof housing, will i still be fine? (i dont plan on getting snow all over it so i would imagine it would work fine?

  • @XBreakingNews I use the 720p version for skiing without any case, works fine even after a few gnarly crashes.

  • @Kulik0 nice! thanks! is there anyway to mount it on top of your helmet like the go pro? my friend has one and i like the way the video comes out...

  • what editing software do you use?

  • Where do you ride?

  • The predator part made me laugh

  • never knew the GoPro was a helmet camera only

  • The reason its jumpy in video exporting is because the transfer speed of the TF card is only class 4b you need a class 6 or higher for good data transferring rates.

  • @factsonlyplease1 funny, I've got class 10 cards....

  • @factsonlyplease1 The real reason it's jumpy is because this camera operates a CMOS shutter. The top of the sensor is scanned first then this follows to the bottom. On wobbly, vibrating shots, this translates to the CMOS chip and gives you the artefacts you see, also things like the wheel looking like it's made of jelly. The term for this is Rolling Shutter. You can cure it with iMove 11 if you have it or FCPX with built in plug-ins. Relevant user name! This is a fact...

  • how did you get that redbull fridge from

  • I am thinking of getting this for skiing and would like to know whether it will need the waterproof casing of not?

    Thanks

  • go pro or contour?

  • @thatpatrickdude0 ..foreal that sucks..so i shuldnt get it ?

  • i've got one of these, as Crana has said they are under a £160 now, well worth it, if you want to save money on mounts the box it comes in can be adapted, i did this to strap it to my trikes fork leg, i use windows movie maker to edit footage on a £500 pc world pc, and have had no problems, for what i paid for it i'm very happy with the quality etc

  • thanks so much (:

  • PLEASE ANSWER, SHOULD I GET THIS FOR DIRTBIKING?? im goin to mostly use it for recoding videos on my dirtbike,,is it a good camera for this??

  • @saulignacio1 sure, i know loads of people that use them for this. There is a waterproof cover you might like to get (sold on amazon, link in description)

  • @saulignacio1 one problem is that you might get that stupid wind noise and will not be able to hear the bike :(

  • @saulignacio1 i got some vids on a dh bike

  • @saulignacio1 Its a pretty good camera. But if you are going to record ANY audio outside then I would strongly suggest you get a windcutter for it.

  • Okay I have an important question I'm about to buy one, but is it water proof? PLEASE REPLY ASAP!!

  • @WillowTheWisp22 splashproof, but NOT submersible. If you check the link in the desc you can search for a waterproof housing ($30)

  • @svengalie now such camera is waterproof, but they all have underwater housings that you can use. The new contour ROAM though, is waster-resistant and that means that it is waterproof for up to one meter! And this is more than enough really, because most of the people don't actually want a waterproof camera, but one that can handle splashes!

  • We lost one of these during our rides. :/

  • my prob is my mac pro on putting a few video clips to make one. with the idvd?

  • anyone else here that "HI" creppy

  • since its a .mov you could use Imovie on a mac :/. Its the only editing software I have in my house. anyway unless your adding audio (like you) you can upload the video straight to youtube.

  • @Taxemicshadow i have a problem with my idvd on my mac you think can help me out?and i have the contour aswell.

  • @Mr671yigo I dont own a contour. I just know that it imports as a .mov and .mov is the primary video format for IMovie

  • im an idiot... how do you get the origional sticky mount off? I cant figure it out!!!

  • Contour or Go pro! which should i get?

  • @lickthezebra gopro hd hero i have it it's amazing

  • @lickthezebra both lol. I would get the contour. Way cheaper and you can buy mounts and software and stuff.

  • haha if i was to talk while i was riding i would wreck hard hahahaha

  • hey can you describe me the differences between the newest models (NAKED,HERO HD 2...)?

  • and the antics of the fumble after you see the girls it was REALLY funny!!! MOUNTS MOUNTS!!! FOr the Bike... HILARIOUS!!! Cheerio or however you say it!! LOL Cheers

  • Great review!! Lots to think of especialy from a professional editors POV. You are very right about the time it would take to encode... re-encode... and then again. Since I use Avid MC it really won't make that big of a deal because it loves MOV however if I wanted to use Premier Pro or Final cut pro.... that is whee the problem comes in. You have a great delivery on your reviews. Most time I scan through and go to the next one. But with the additions of the Predator Cut Away .....

  • gopro commercial for a contour video

  • Is the same as the Contour Roam that they now have?

  • @The6funny9man no, dont get the ROAM, its not much better and the lenses are irreplaceable. so if it gets scratched your screwed

  • hey which cam is better? gopro or contour?

  • Thanks for the video. Very informative!

  • fckin advertisment!

  • GoPro is sexy, but the contour camera looks like a flashlight..

  • im not kidding when i say you should buy a mac, and use final cut express, or the pro version, where i think you should buy the pro version og final cut!

You can go with the macbook, but i think its worth using the extra money to get a pro. I talk with experience! Pm if you got any questions.. Btw as you might know, mov is an 'apple based' format.

  • @Roemming So he can get locked an iMac for $1199-1999 with a sub-par processor (Intel i5), proprietary hardware and a monitor that's irreplaceable, a 'PC' that's non-expandable... or he can spend under a thousand bucks, get the modern processor, hardware specs of his choice and they're all replaceable components... I'm not anti-mac, but how can anyone look at what you spend vs what you get for a Mac and see the value? The Mac laptops are even worse in terms of value! I vote PC and Sony Vegas.

  • @gymkhanadog dude, are you serious..... Mov is a apple based format, mac is the only platform to run programs like final cut, wich have no problems what so ever, running that format. Plus, not buying an apple product just because of the price is wicked, you cant make a pc running like a mac, follow me here..

I spend 42000kr (Danish crowns) on my PC, love it!!! Its runs sony vegas with no problems, the newest games. But i also spend 12000kr on a macbook, wich runs perfectly.

  • @Roemming You are correct. .mov is based on a now (largely) abandoned Apple format (they've now moved to h.264 .m4p and .mp4). Keep in mind that not all of us were born with a silver spoon and can afford to look at a $2000 pricetag for an already-obsoleted piece of hardware and not care. I wold rather look at a $2000 price tag ensured that it was modern, up to date and expandable hardware.

Final Cut is not a requirement for editing .mov files. Thus, a mac is not a requirement.

  • @gymkhanadog Its not whats in the computer, BUT how the computer works with it self, how the software platform (Macintosh/windows) and the hardware work together, yeah, you can make a nice PC with the newest things on the marked, and put windows on it, but the mac is just running so perfect with what its doing, for video editting and stuff like that. hope you know what i mean :D because im stupid at english, and explaining things..

  • @Roemming Anyone can make a proprietary box with proprietary hardware, with locked in hardware and software vendors run well. A truly exceptional company can make that same software work well with any hardware or software.

I think we've moved beyond the scope of the conversation though. Mac and PC guys I doubt will ever agree to anything except to kindly agree to disagree. :)

My personal vote is that the money would be better spent on a modern PC than a "modern" Mac. Purely my Opinion.

  • @gymkhanadog heh :D yes, i think i can only agree with you, i guess its a matter of taste, i do have this friend who is really good at editting, but he's using an old acer, sony vega, working with HD videos :) He does it good :) But i do wanna say that im with both because i have both :D but i just realized that mac is good for one ting and pc other :D Again, a matter of taste, but lets leave it there :)

  • Don't you censor your own videos!

  • dude wat is up with the dirt mud road?

  • Don't know if this would help you with your HD editing, but for editing HD video, I do this: put HD video files in folder named "src_hd", re-code to something such as a 480p format in another folder named "src_low" (files must have same names!). When editing, rename "src_low" to "src" and edit (so your edit suite uses low rez material). When rendering final video, rename "src" to "src_low" and rename "src_hd" to "src".. and viola! The final render will use the HD material.

  • This guy must be the voice of Wheatly from Portal 2. He talks just like him too!......GREAT REVIEW

  • gopros better cuz it can be used for more things

  • dvd videosoft- 3gp video converter converts the videos to AVI pretty quick. It took 15sec. for a 45 sec. video to convert. Might be worth checking out

  • Mm do they have sticky mounts like the GoPro does? because i want use a helmet cam.. well.. on my helmet, for skateboarding.

  • great vid i might get one

  • So what camera do you use more, the contour or the gopro?

  • HE SAYS FLAVOR LOL

    i like tht

  • how much recording time is there?

  • that part at the end there about the video play back being poor could also beyour SD card, as the 1080p would require a class 2 sd card minimum a class 4 is safe to make sure eveerythign happends smooth. I'm not 100% about what was happening there but ive had that problem before and the problem was becasue i was trying to play the video directly off of the card instead of bringing it to my computer and plaing it. After transfering it to my computer it played fine.

  • @slunk0 I've had the same, thing, I've got a 16GB class 4, and there's no problems with footage. Only niggle i have with it is that it's a .mov file, and takes a while to convert it to a workable format for Windows Movie Maker. Once that's done, however, there's no problems with the framerate of my footage, even on the low quality of WMM preview.

  • Would you reccomend the GoPro Hero or the CountourHD for me? I dont care very much about how it looks like, but i need to edit the videoclip as easy as possible. I am going to use the helmetcam for skiing.

  • power button is also is a piss poor design

  • Can you use it underwater without a waterproof case reply plz.....

  • @12lorik No, you need the waterproof case.

  • My friend says the GoPro looks like a lunchbox loI. personally want one for Snowboarding. however this camera seems to have a much lower profile.

  • GOPRO FTW!!!

  • THIS GUY IS A LEJ!

  • Sven, this is now £138 on Amazon, cheaper than the Drift Stealth even, and the GoPro is still over £200... What would you recommend?

  • @Crana if your only concern is price then you've answered your own question. If you want to know what i recommend then i'll say the POV HD.

If you want to know the best of the three you mention then i'd probably steer towards the drift.

  • @svengalie yeah price is the main concern. The reason I was leaning towards the Contour is because you didn't seem too happy with the Drift, not to mention the Contour can use Nokia batteries and also the drift is apparently prone to breaking if you drop it. Some guy who reviewed it says he dropped it a few feet when he first bought it and the lens smashed.. and it ain't replaceable on the Stealth. Hmmmmmmm!

  • @svengalie i just bought one of these off ebay for £115 brand new and free p&p

  • Anyone requiring a new/ or spare battery for this Dont drop big money on an original battery get a Nokia BL-5C battery from ebay at about £3.00 and works perfectly as its basically the same.

  • @TheConspiracyHunter this person speaks the truth. Please thumb this comment up so folks see it. TY

  • @TheConspiracyHunter what about the contour GPS?

  • @TheConspiracyHunter okay, since the contour spare battery is compatible to ContourHD, ContourGPS and Contour+. I assume, therefore, the nokia battery also works for the above three models. However, I couldn't tell whether they have the same capacity. If someone would tell us, that would be great!

  • @strangetml The battery polarity is the same across all cameras so the CHEAP nokia battery will work. ive tried it on my HD and my brothers +. Hope this helps.

  • I feel awkward watching this video when there's a GoPro ad on the side, and that I own a HD Hero.

  • hha you sound like piers morgan

  • how much this one cost??

  • Thumbs up for little school girl giggles bye cyclists

  • hello svengalie im not sure which helcam i gonna buy cuz i kart alot and i wanna make a video of it can you help whic shud i choose gopro or countour hd? nice vid

  • the go-pro is much better

  • great vid. amongst the babble there was lots of informative stuff :-p

  • LOVE my ContourHD, It weighs nothing and mine has taken a direct hit from a paintball to the lens. No issues, still a perfect camera.

  • Good review but I might now go for the Gopro motorsports hero .

  • go pro gopro gopro gopro gopro if there is something a helmet cam looks like it should look like a gopro...

  • i love your helmet!!

  • where is the unboxing?????

  • Personally, I will go with the GoPro, not only does it have the best color but 60 fps at 720p is purely epic. Also, it is nearly indestructible and can mount to almost anything. My only complaint for the GoPro is it picks up a lot of wind noise, other than that; GoPro all the way.

  • THUMBS UP IF CONTOUR IS CRAP AND GOPRO IS THE BEST!!!

  • @koldstudios I have Gopro 960 but the thing is quite stupid looking when mounted on your head. Contour seems to better at that..

  • i was planning to buy this camera until i saw your review.

    1. is it worth it to own if i am not on a bike or anything involving helmets? if not, I was wondering what you use to record your audio ( because of the internal microphone issue)

2.the modification you mentioned to the contour, will it void a warranty?.

    3. i did not quite understand if you liked it or not. is it worth it overal to have it?

    thanks

  • he is corrrect though, the ContourHD does "look" like what a helmet cam should like look, the gp is just no. I do own the gopro though, lol

  • Ok, i have no fucking idea about theese, but will this camera have better results than an iphone 4 camera?

  • @TheDim360 iPhone.. really.. omg..

  • I just got a contour HD 1080p but kinda disappointed with it just because when it records it kinda jumps or skips during video and it's on the highest bit rate at 1080p. Anyone else with this problem or is it just my contour?

  • is that a giant redbull can?

  • Have you got the iPhone Bluetooth adaptor for this or have you heard of anyone elses experience using it? Thanks

  • Can i put this on my paintball mask????

  • so did you find a simpler way to make the video stop being so choppy?

  • dont hate on gopro

  • @MickyyisMick i own a gopro. I've also reviewed it, not sure how giving a genuine honest review is "hating" on something?

  • @svengalie preferring the contour over the gopro purely for cosmetic purposes is silly.

  • @MickyyisMick howso? If both units are equal in every measure then choosing one that arguably offers a little more versatility with the movable head and looks nicer makes absolute complete sense to me (and others judging by some comments on here)

  • @svengalie sorry i meant the contour will the contour hd camera's audio be able to capture reviews like me talking to the camera from about 5 ft away

  • @SROairsoft

I guess you would be using it for airsoft (guessing from your nick). When I used mine when I was playing and it was strapped to my head my voice was pretty clear, but it really didn't pick the words of other players farther than I guess 9 feet.

You can fiddle with the volume gain a little bit, but on the higher gain levels you get more background noise.

I have not had a GoPro, but have been interested in it.

IMHO if you want good sound you really need to mod it to have external mic

  • @antecboy

Or use other audio recording device. And sync video and audio feed later when editing.

This would be the simplest solution IMO.

  • @antecboy thanks, does the contour GPS have better audio

  • @SROairsoft Well I have not had any experience with that model, but google for reviews and see what they say about the audio.

  • @antecboy thanks will do

  • @svengalie I have been researching the Go Pro and Contour very extensively because I'm looking to buy one of them and I'm researching them thoroughly because I'm a kid on a tight budget. I have decided that I will be getting the Contour HD because it's in my price range at $150 but if I had the money I would be getting the Go Pro Naked because I can mount it on my forehead, it comes with a waterproof case, and it doesn't pick up all of the wind noise that the Contour does. Both are good though

  • @svengalie Obviously you would look less like a dork with a Contour on your helmet than a GoPro. Or that doesn't count? Also I would imagine that the wind resistance is better with the smaller frontal area of the Contour, so if you for some reason go very very fast on your bike and got your head in the airstream it would be easier and less noisy...

  • @MickyyisMick Dont troll on this mans videos you cunt

  • @chasefilming go back to living your useless life you rude individual.

  • @MickyyisMick Youe the one that started fighten man. Faggot

  • @chasefilming at no time did i use profanity you ignorant individual.

  • I have those goggles

  • pretty awesome review man saying all the negatives of it so then wat then the go pro how many times would have to edit it encode, reencode oh my goooodness screw that i think i would've gone crazy by now. also does it come with a editing program or u have to get that separate? but damn that all seems like hassle though would the go pro be better? regardless of u saying it just looks weird i get u bulky or something like that

  • @goose003 it's a software issue derp dont you read

  • 5:17 WEEEEEE

  • wrong side of the road dude

  • @acmadsen you do know hes in europe right?

  • I wouldnt use the GoPro if you gave me one for free. The ugliest piece of kit I've ever seen. Agree with you on this Contour HD. It may not have the same features, quality and angle as most other action cameras, but at least it looks the part and is very light and practical for the most part. The VIO POV HD is in a different league though.

  • @simon44 typical ungrateful people. it's all cosmetic.

  • @MickyyisMick Its not just cosmetic. If it was I might suck it up and buy it. The real issue is its terrible aerodynamics which for anyone going fast with it on their head will feel. It acts like an air brake and I'm sure it would also affect your fuel economy as a motorbike user.

  • ContourHD 1080 is a great small action camera to use, i use it for paintball

  • Is it waterproof? can I smash it off rocks and it will keep recording? No? Then the gopro hero hd is better.

  • What helmet is that? look awesome.

  • Where did you get the lights on your helmet from

  • "It looks a bit odd"

I believe "small toaster" are the words your looking for....the GoPro looks like you are wearing a small toaster on you head.

  • @weeeezzll HA your right I thought it looked like something, a toaster is pretty close.

  • Try removed the little sticker on the bottom. lmao

  • The footage is pretty cruddy compared to what the GoPro can do even on a dull day.

Some details such as resolution options, lens degree, frame rates, still options, battery life, max card size and video length would be informative in a review.

  • In Norway they ask for almost 700! US dollars for the model with GPS. For the standard model its 150 dollars cheaper.

  • @indian2003 - The cost of socialism... and supporting a parasitic royalty.

  • @KutWrite

I cant agree more. The royal family is sucking the money out of the people.

  • this camera needs 170deg lens

  • Nice thanks.. tried the Contour GPS?

  • To get rid of the lag when u are editing u need a Graphics card that support HD. Since this is a HD cam

  • you know what i just got today that camera, i wish those two lasers would stay on , period, great review mate, cheers Alex

  • Realy good video m8 kept me interested all the way through nice review thx

  • Did they fix the editing of the recorded videos?

  • this is awesome.

  • take that sticker off the bottom of the camera. thats where the Microphone is

  • I would like to use this for hiking, is there a way to mount this with a regular hat or do I need to have some kind of headband on to attach it to?

    Thanks

  • @snorider the pov hd comes with a baseball cap mount, or a headband, and the drift innovation HD a headband. This camera (at the time of reviewing) did not. But I'm sure you could rig something.

  • @snorider idk if you got a camera yet but the tachyon is a good camera to mount onto a baseball cap when your hiking

  • know for video playback u need to have NVIDIA - PureVideo HD compliant graphics processor do u have one? i have a Kodak HD cam and only works on compliant HD cards

  • 4:39 yeah bro girls can really take out our attention LOL

  • What is that round thing on the left of the cam ?

  • Woooouh Brad Sucks.. Dropping Out of School .. great vid ;)

  • ya, lets spend double the price in the uk when we can buy it for half that in america. such a smart idea isn't it

  • @the3palongboarders don't forget about import tax if you're thinking of doing that. Of course it's free if you go on holiday. Good luck, happy filming.

  • 320 Pounds????? I just bought my ContourHD for $275AUD, which equates to what 180 Pounds???
