Just got my Yinlips YDPG-18 in today. Apparently they came out with a newer version, one that runs android 2.3.4. Problem is, recovery is no longer accessible in the method shown in the video. Suggestions?
@ThePinWiz If you have the newer version there is no need to get into recovery you already have 2.3.4. I don't know how to get into recovery on this one since I don't have one
@ThePinWiz That is up to you but others were able to use z4root to root the newer ones. If you are going to do it use the temporary root option to make sure it works first.
..Before you root you mention to put it in USB debug mode. Do you leave it in debug mode after you root it or is it OK to disable it again? I've noticed since I rooted it many apps crash that didn't before root. They usually do it right after launching. FPSE is one of them. I just reset to factory default hoping it helps correct the issue. Any insight here?
I found a work around for the crashing emulators after I rooted my G18. Just backed them up using Titanium backup free, then remove them from the G18, then restore them but just the app, not the backed up data. This worked for every single stock emulator that shipped with it. In the process now of updating some of them with newer versions now.
@eGax Yeah that works even easier is to install titanium backup then uninstall the emulators go into appinstaller then remove them again and then reinstall the new ones.. I didnt do a video of this method since people would need to pay for titanium backup or pirate it.
@railguy123 No mutitouch but most emulators and ports allow you to remap keys to hardware mappings take a look in quake 3's settings. I will try tomorrow when I get home from work
@GabrielCamoleze Touch screen is a pain. Its not bad after it is broken in but its not the best overall. Its ok for games that do not require multitouch(this screen is not multitouch) but I would not use it for browsing the web. If using the keyboard it is best to use a stylus. The buttons once broken in seem to work well. They are clicky at first but loosen up after a while.
I'm very aware that I'm behind the times, but I'm about to get my first Android device. The Superpad tablet. The problem that I'm having now is that I mostly want it for games. This just might make me change my mind as to what I want. Kinda' funny, though. A lot of times, Asian remakes tend to be done half-ass, but this looks like it was actually done very well! I'm surprised and in love! lol. Thank you for posting these demonstration videos. :)
@hotmle123 No, this device was made by the Chinese. The Chinese are always making clones of Japanese systems. This is the clone of the Vita, which doesn't look half as bad as the older clones. This clone actually looks pretty legit.

Hey, so the yinlips does NOT support multi press? I'm playing quake 3, and i can't shoot and run at the same time. Is there a way around this?

Hey, when I download Z4Root, my kaspersky says a linux exploit was found after I downloaded it. Will this harm anything?

How is the response of the Touchscreen and the D-pad buttons? Are they smooth or hard to press? Seems like an awesome device.
