@GradyWhite2007 Defeats the purpose. This car is for people with money who don't want to drive a wack prius. I do like you thinking though, I love the G-37 coupe.
There's a few people saying this is by far the most badass electric vehicle. Although I think it comes out on top, I think those people should take a look at the Tesla Roadster to be sure. It's also California made for those American domestic buyers I know are out there.
What I really hate about electric cars nowadays is how they almost seem like they TRY to make it look dorky. If they made more cars like this, more old-fashioned car buyers would consider this.
by the time you pay this fucker off, it's gonna cost you 115,000 k, not 90.....hell no if I had that much money I would buy 2010 Audi r8 v10....and, i'd buy something for 15,000 for daily driver....
Allow me to answer your question, when you can afford a $95,000.00 car you want SOUND and SPEED. Something the Germans, and Italians have down pretty well.
This is the first car with a moustache. Also seems too quite on the track like a Prius. I'd rather buy a Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S or an Aston Martin Rapide. Cars like this should not have a moustache, have either a big loud amazingly powerful V8, V10, or V12 engine that runs on petrol, should not be made of recycled materials, and should either be Italian, British, or German. If America wants something like this, let Cadillac run with the concept, then put their Supercharged V8 in it.
The Fisker Karma and Sunset are the most stylish and innovative car designs to come out of America since the 1930's Dusenberg, Cord, and Auburn automobiles. It has world class handling and braking. The straight line performance is more than adequate for everyday street driving. It's not a drag racer or an autobahn dominator, but so what.
@SecularTechnology yeah the Charger can post those numbers but it'll drink gas all day. I think you missed the point.
The Karma offers a luxury GT style car in an electric package. It's not a crude 4 door grocery getter with a huge displacement V8. This is class, form an function done beautifully.
You want something just for it's speed, buy an Ariel Atom.
Attractive styling, exclusivity, performance and a substantial emission free range: where are all "premium" manufacturers? One man's vision vs the mega auto companies like BMW, Mercedes, Audi/VW/Porsche, Lexus, etc (Maybe Cadillac will get a Volt derivative?)
The Karma makes their line ups look very old and outdated I think.
@lawnkit22 Nah, the designer of the car is the same man that designed the Aston Martin DB-9, the Aston Matin V8 Vantage, the BMW Z8 and the initial designs of the Tesla Roadster. A quick look at those cars, and you'll see he has been dabling with these kinds of designs for a long time. :)
400 Hp and and 901 Lb.-Ft of torque and the 0-60 time is only fucking 5.8 seconds. a Dodge Charger Srt8 weighs more and has 400 Hp 420 Lb.-Ft, and has a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds and it's a lot less aerodynamic than this.
That aint a true 900 Lb-Ft aint true torque. And it sure as hell aint a true 400. Some people have said Electric cars produce torque similar to diesel. No fucking way.
Anyone who buys this Piece of shit just wasted there money.
The look is a blend of BMW grill and Aston Martin body styling. A nice blend indeed, BUT, I will give up the 4 mile charge for a sun roof. 0-60 @ 6 - 8 seconds is an eternity for a $90K car. All this tub does is massage the conscience of wealthy liberals. How come NONE of the reviews look in the trunk? Speakers for exhaust? Pauleeeeeeze.
tesla model s is around 50k, and gets 300miles per charge. Why would any sane person buy a fisker and get 50miles per charge and then a gasoline engine kicks in? Fisker is doomed to die before it is even born.
@hw2sot Because most people can manage 95% of their transportation needs within that 50 mile range. Remember you just plug it in when you get home...
For those rare longer drives the petrol engine range booster comes handy, and for extreme overland trips the Tesla has to stop for an overnight charge every 300 miles....
As long as you cant charge or replace your batteries on the go, Fiskers solution is perfect.
I saw this at the 2010 Washington DC Auto Show, it was gorgeous! I hate damn near every new electric car that's being put out nowadays, but this is the first one that appealed to me
@Zcow29 I have, but I've never actually seen one. The Maryland-Virginia-Washington DC area is home to quite a few Tesla's. I do like Tesla's engineering and style as well. I've talked to a few owners and they have nothing but good things to say about the car as well. I hope the S does as well as the Roadster did, if not better
"If i was in the market for a 95 k car why would i drive something from the past when i can drive the future" Umm,bcoz u don`t KNOW if this is the future.Ok,maybe some day we WILL run out of oil,but i seriously doubt electricity will take its place. So till then:GENTLEMEN;START UR ENGINES!! Ur big gasguzzling V8`s and V12s
1:15...lol, the KARMA badge has been stuck on all wonky! And to re-iteracte as PeetPeeeet questions, what's the MPG? My guess is pretty poor given it's huge weight. I guess it handles poorly to, but would love to be wrong.
@PeetPeeet According to MotorTrend's drive video, they said Fisker estimates about 250 miles on the gas engine after the 50 miles from the battery. The video should be to the right or watch?v=8m5RRJ3-Cr0
@PeetPeeet ... why would you even care? :-) Anyway it's a little over 26 mpg if you believe Fisker's numbers. That's not great mileage, admittedly, but (a) who cares, and (b) it's a lot better than a Jaguar XJ.
@silatube You're saying that people who buy hybrids don't care about fuel mileage...? I'm not sure that I follow you there, and the Jaguar XJ is irrelevant to my point. The whole justification for buying something like this is the supposed moral superiority it gives you over the less-eco-friendly non-hybrids that the rest of us drive, but if the mileage is crap then what's the point in buying an overpowered milk float when you can go buy something with pure piston power?
@PeetPeeet It's not an "overpowered milk float": milk floats are not sexy. And it's not intended as a gas-sipping hybrid either. It's a luxury saloon, competing with things like a BMW 7-series, Mercedes, or Jaguar. Its "edge" is the available 50 miles of electric-only, while still being a luxury vehicle that competes with these.
People who buy a Karma are simply not going to care about post-EV-range mileage. (Nor "stealth mode" km/kWh, as it's half what you'd get in a Leaf.)
This is Bee Real,I'm going to get this car in the near future.
