well, NOW yer talking...but,...it is a BOILER....NOT a 'furnace'........a boiler boils water, a furnace heats air...., well, for at least the last coupla hunnerd yars er so..!
These will be completely outlawed in Connecticut very soon..... And I think they are already outlawed in 1 or 2 states with many others looking at legislation. People need to be aware of this.
The State of CT rejected a vote to make these units illegal. With the new clean burning technology as mandated by the US DEP, people should and will continue to enjoy the option of heating their homes with wood fuel.
@skyypilot Yes, this is certainly an ongoing discussion, not only in CT. Pro-Fab is committed to working with customers and legislators on wood furnace regulations, improving and testing our furnaces to meet new standards. Although there's no way to foresee exactly where things will go, you can be confident that Pro-Fab will remain at the forefront of clean burning technology and regulation and will work closely with local dealers and customers to ensure compliance and promote clean burning.
@woodfurnace thanks man, cool tech, by the way , up here in the woods of NH I guarantee they can out law what they want but the cant force me to do ANYTHING, like shut down MY ALTERNATIVE to be forced to oil, unless they like to stare down my barrel, ROCK N ROLL invent more please
I called Greenwood, being that they no longer sell these. I asked them what they thought of this boiler. They said the motors used to break often from smoke damage. but he said they made chanfes by adding a smoke curtan? and that should help any opinions on this? I would call greenwood they are totaly honest about this boiler as they no longer need to sell it.
High efficiency wood burning is the answer to many heating and energy requirements. Kudos to these guys for developing a 90% burner. Natural gas is a joke on people. Wood in renewable and is net zero carbon where natural gas just dumps carbon into the air. Fantastic design!
There have been continuous enhancements made to the firebrick, combustion air, and fan flow system making the new Pro Series 200 and 400 superior gasification units to the original Aspen. Orange Tag is the first phase of EPA emissions regulation. White Tag is the final phase, rated at 90% cleaner than traditional wood furnaces. The Pro Series have met both, but the White Tag is the stricter standard.
Are the GreenWood Aspen series the same as the Empyre Pro Series? I know that ProFab at one time made them for Greenwood. Also the Aspen 175 was EPA orange tag approved but these are white tag approved how are they different?

@woodfurnace We may be safe for the moment, but this is definitely NOT a dead issue in CT. I wish it was.
