How ironic for one of the greatest voices of the twentieth century to have someone with such a notoriously bad voice as Boccelli singing at his funeral.
Magnficently sung by Andre Bocelli. A beautiful piece of sacred music by Bruckner.. I am sure Pavarotti would have very proud of his young tenor friend.
@CatholicKnight428 'Sacrificing our stance on faith to accommodate those without faith is shameful.' Sacrificing and accommodate, interesting choice of words...
'without faith'? If you don't believe in a god or angels doesn't mean you don't have a faith. My faith is that I believe people all want to be respected and loved, and therefore the best thing to do is to make yourself and others happy by showing love and respect. My faith is also that we humans overvalue humanity, we're not important.
@svenboden1 You should add to your statement, "In My Opinion". For those of us who do believe in God and his angels it would be more appropriate. You do, however, have the right to express your opinion. We are very lucky that God watches over us......
@jajwood then you could also have added 'in my opinion' to lucky that God watches over us. He thinks there are no gods or angels, you think there is one. That's two opinions.
pobre se ve que sufre la perdida de su amigo casi su padre poveri sofforno dal suo amico quasi suo padre poor are sufferingby his friend almosty his fader
Wow, Andrea held it together, even though it really looked like his heart was breaking. Also, I'm surprised they allowed a video camera in there. I don't think canon (church) law allows it given the sacred nature of the service. It was wonderful that Pavarotti mentored Andrea.
To the Smonge, ah my comment was SIMPLY a statement of fact, he looks really sick, that's all, just an observation, NOT a criticism, I was worried when I saw that, but I see he since has performed and looks good, thank goodness. And YES as we ALL have had losses, finding my Mother dead on the floor!, My Father dieing in my arms, My Sister died of cancer and even my dog died.... Who hasn't had losses? I'm still depressed. Did you check out Bocelli in David Foster's production Lord's Prayer?
@checkorbet12 Well you probably wouldn't look too good either if one of your best friends / mentors / idols just passed away and you were asked to sing at his funeral without breaking down crying... He probably didn't get much sleep the night before or at least some time during the time from the announcement of death to the actual funeral. Have you ever lost anyone close to you? It tears you apart emotionally, and can have an effect on your health.
Goodbye Pavarotti...Thank you and may beautiful music follow you whenever you go somewhere outta this world...to the higher place of exsistance... RIP Pavarotti, The Voice
This is good work from the heart and soul of Andrea Bocelli,a master singer. What a lovely send off for Pavarotti and a great praise to our maker, Holy God.
As Pavarotti was the mentor of Bocelli for many years, it's particularly impressive to see Andrea contain himself. It's quite clear this was a hugely emotional commitment for him, but that's what defines a professional.
It's tempting to deride those who have so little appreciation for those who sing like gods. Those of us who have the great good fortune to weep at such unimaginable beauty are the fortunate. I pity those who cannot. BTW it is very likely a genetic toss of the dice---tone deafness, the inability to sing a harmony, even stage fright are thought to be genetic. So we know you can't help it...but please can't you keep it to yourselves? There's still a lot of you tube for you to love.
@IshtarLoveGoddest - Man there is not reason to insult those people who didn't like this, Nature didn't give them the possibility to understand such a beautiful things and this is already an insult.

Poor Andrea, it shows how much I wanted to Luciano, there are times when it seems that going to lie to mourn, she sings in tribute to his friend but it looks like it costs to do so now.
Pavarotti inspired the old and the young to new heights of appreciation for Opera - his legacy will continue on in the hearts of all that hear that MAGNIFICENT voice - tears will still be there for a thousand years past - the sound is pure heaven, the sound of Pavarotti.

@LH3301 Actually, he admitted that he was a"bandwagon" fan of all of the top Italian teams. He was a 'Milanista" at one time and a"Juventino" at other times.I heard him sing in the living room of an old family friend,a Physician, in `Jersey, back in 1976, when he was not yet famous in the USA.The Physician also was originally from Regione "Emilia" and Luciano loved to eat his authentic Northern Italian cuisine when visiting in the US.
@LH3301 That was the only time I saw him.And I didn`t even get an autograph! But at that time ,who knew he would become as famous as he eventually became!
I love this and would like it at my funeral (hopefully many years away, but who knows). Don't know why this clip should have resulted in such a big argument!
@DyerVaper absolutely right.... greatest tenor since Caruso, even pavarotti said that caruso was the best of all times, some thinks that nor pavarotti could reach caruso. What means 'l'ave verum corpus'? thanks
what a lovely tribute for a departed friend. if i were him i woudn't be able to open my mouth without crying. RIP great maestro

@LOMBARDISPACKERS1 Both Caruso and Pavarotti were both hand picked to sing to the Lord everyday.

Spero che you will post programme from Rai Uno, due e' tre, plus programs from all the Rai networks on You Tube. I was once fluent in l'Italiano, ma obviously not anymore. Spero che posso regain the ability to capire vostri programmi anchora by watching them and remembering what I once knew.

I am glad I have something common with my most favorite singer Pavarotti --- we are both fan of Juventus.
LH3301 11 months ago
@LH3301 Actually, he admitted that he was a"bandwagon" fan of all of the top Italian teams. He was a 'Milanista" at one time and a"Juventino" at other times.I heard him sing in the living room of an old family friend,a Physician, in `Jersey, back in 1976, when he was not yet famous in the USA.The Physician also was originally from Regione "Emilia" and Luciano loved to eat his authentic Northern Italian cuisine when visiting in the US.

@thebigfist Thanks (a little awkward, hehe) I am very jealous of your experience with Pavarotti. This is absolutely blatant showoff ( just joking ).
LH3301 10 months ago
@LH3301 That was the only time I saw him.And I didn`t even get an autograph! But at that time ,who knew he would become as famous as he eventually became!

I love this and would like it at my funeral (hopefully many years away, but who knows). Don't know why this clip should have resulted in such a big argument!

How could anyone "dislike" this? It's the funeral of the greatest tenor since Enrico Caruso- have some respect.

@DyerVaper .......I totally agree with you .....How on earht can anyone not like this? I do not understand it.....R.I.P......L. Pavarrotti
SkinnyBabe38 11 months ago
@DyerVaper absolutely right.... greatest tenor since Caruso, even pavarotti said that caruso was the best of all times, some thinks that nor pavarotti could reach caruso. What means 'l'ave verum corpus'? thanks
mauriciomille 9 months ago
@mauriciomille it means "Hail true body", referring to Christ's body in the eucharist (holy communion in the Catholic Church.)
