when a motor sucks in water, it dosnt mean the motor is pretty much screwed. i barried my yamaha 400 big bear above the handle bars. when we finnaly got it out. we pulled the heads, and jugs off, fliped the bike upside down, let all the water run out. and then set the whole quad infront of a salamander heater to dry all vapor out. put it back together and it ran prefectly fine.

i also own a 2003 honda 300ex. ive done the same to that bike to. still runs bran new.

careful dude you can get water into ur air box and soak ur filter with water. when u start it with water in the filter you suck water straight into your engine and seize it up or"hydrolock" it.

UM... if you get water IN your filter, more then likely it will be to late to "START" it again... And no, with a 400ex this is NOT true. The way the snorkel is ran it protects against this, as well as having an air box drain to avoid water being sucked in. Only way that water can be sucked in is if there is NO air box at all, or, NO lid at all...

that whole reply doesnt maek sense, if you get your filter wet, you can still start the bike, then it will suck water...

and air boxes and snorkels do not comletely stop water from getting in the air box, especially if you submerge the whole bike like the guy nearly did in the video.

yeah, ive done that. all the smoke was water burning off into steam, then the spark plug got wet and wont spark. once the heat dries it out its fine. as long as you dont hydrolock the engine youre fine
