I went and saw chicago back in the summer of 1977 at Pine Knob & in 1979 saw Terry Kath in 77 sure missed him in 79 till now. Sad event in jan 78 he will be missed. Nice thing on youtube is he will live in our hearts forever.
@TheGlitchBox1 Type in quotation marks "colour my world on piano" and you'll get a great version, where you can actually see what he's playing. You should be able to pick it up from that.
When the first few notes of that played in our gym, there was an auduble sigh from the girls and a smile on the faces of the guys. Every chick in the state of Missouri was coo-coo for this song. Even the ugly guys got squeezed on that dance.
Robert Lamm did a great score on the piano and at least does a decent job trying to cover Terry's voice but I totally agree with specialone8 NO ONE will ever match Terrys barritone voice imo....
Great version of an American classic, but no one, I repeat NO ONE will ever take the place or sound of Terry Kath. His voice to this day is haunting when listening to HIS "original" version of this incredible ballad.
Walter and Jimmy yes it is true this slice of "Bellet" of arpegios has made you famous and has given me a song at every wedding i play, thank you Terry your vocals are in my memories Robert has kept this song in his voice magnificent
long time ago...terry kath doin' the solo & robert lamm on piano...now, robert doing the vocals & bill champlin manning the piano...still the magic & beauty of the (James Pankow composition) song remain the same...CHICAGO lives in our hearts forever !!!
Drdalehenry and I married 37 years this month...this is our song! Love him so much and we are strong in our FAITH since early teenage years saved by the precious blood of Jesus Christ see the TRUTH in the HOLY BIBLE!
@hearditatthegrapevin thats good you are happy and 37 years strong, but i do have to agree with George Carlin's 11th commandment "thy shall keep thy religin to thyself"
hfs, this song is responsible for most of my high school action - forgot about it. post new orleans lady and you will have covered all action up to 22 years. awesome!
This was my favorite song of all time and still is. I learned to play the piano by ear on this song. Went to many Chicago concerts in the 70s and then to a Chicago concert in 1984 on the BYU campus and wondered why they didn't sing this song; and then found out that since Terry's death they supposedly never sang the song again in his honor; not sure if that is true or if they have sung it since on stage; I would hope they would; in his honor. What a great thing to remember.

No one can sing this song like Terry Kath. I have Heard both Robert Lamm and Bill Champlain sing it in concert and Robert's comes the closest to Terry's Version.
This is REAL music. If you could take away the lady gagas and justin beibers of the industry and replace them with band like this, the world would be a better place.
@jjp009 sometimes its better to write it in few verses because it speaks so much what is there in one's heart..savoring well short written words. I guess u r rt to ask for more though
@CrazyCor15 edwin Mc cain I'll be . Not exactly what I wanted but then again the whole thing wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to get married on a beach in Hawaii and instead of going west I ended up going east to Newfoundland where he's from because all of his family is there and they wouldn't come :( Everything that could go wrong went wrong and I mean EVERYTHING!!! If yu'd like the soridid deals message me and I'll give you a good laugh with all of the problems! NO one will forget our wedding
@kimmilil It was our wedding song, Kim - 35 years ago today. It has served us well and has come on the radio seldom but has come on at some extremely appropriate times :-) Rick and Linda
@kimmilil I'm on your side. But theres a plus side not having this song at your wedding... It's too short. If it were longer this song would have been perfect. PS.. how did you wedding go?
